Chapter 292: Making a Will
Chapter 292: Making a Will
Lu Jiaxin arrived at the law firm to sign a series of documents, the first being a share sale contract, followed by a share donation agreement, and finally, a will.
Xue Mao accompanied her, and the second contract was quickly signed. The process of making a will was a bit more complicated, but fortunately, Lu Jiaxin only had stocks and cash under her name, making her asset structure relatively simple, and there was no need to verify her assets further.
Before coming, Xue Mao had no idea that she intended to make a will, and he asked with concern, "Sister Jiaxin, has something happened?"
Seeing her transfer the Qirui shares to him and now making a will, it seemed like something was amiss. The more he thought about it, the more anxious he became.
Lu Jiaxin smiled and said, "Nothing's wrong. Transferring the Qirui shares to you is because it's not appropriate for me to be a shareholder. As for the will, it's common for the wealthy in Hong Kong to have one. I'm just following the trend as a precaution."
Yan Yihua thought to himself that while it was common for the wealthy in Hong Kong to make wills, he had never met a seventeen-year-old as prudent as Lu Jiaxin.
"Really?"
Lu Jiaxin smiled and said, "Of course. I've experienced death once, and now I cherish my life even more. You shouldn't overthink things."
Xue Mao felt that he might have been worrying too much.
After signing the share donation agreement and finalizing the will, everything seemed to be in order. Xue Mao had no interest in staying in Hong Kong, so he bid Lu Jiaxin farewell and headed back to work.
Seeing his eagerness to leave, Lu Jiaxin didn't hold him back. Being able to pursue one's passions was a form of happiness, and it was even better that Xue Mao was dedicated to his craft.
She called for a taxi to send him to the port, and then she took her luggage and headed to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, another five-star luxury hotel and a landmark in Central.
Since she was already spending money to stay in a hotel, the cost difference was negligible, so she might as well experience different services and cuisines by alternating her accommodations.
Upon arriving at the lobby of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, she noticed a distinct difference from the Peninsula. The interior was designed in an English style, with vibrant oil paintings adorning the walls and interesting decorations such as a grill.
Lu Jiaxin booked two rooms, one for herself and one for a male companion. The Mandarin Hotel was renowned for its exceptional service, and guests often felt right at home.
As soon as she entered her room, Lu Jiaxin asked the staff who had brought up her luggage, "When is dinner served? I'm feeling a bit hungry."
The staff checked the time and informed her that dinner would be served in half an hour, but they could provide some fruits and desserts in the meantime.
"I'll have both."
"Please wait a moment, Miss. I'll inform the dining department right away."
Ten minutes later, a waiter arrived with a selection of sweets and a glass of water. Lu Jiaxin picked up a lychee with a toothpick and popped it into her mouth. It was sweet and delicious.
Qian Xiao Xiao ate a strawberry and nodded in approval. "Sister Jiaxin, I'll bring some over to Brother Feng and the others!"
Lu Jiaxin found her suggestion amusing. "No need. They probably have some already."
"How would they? Brother Feng wouldn't spend money on sweets and fruits."
"I told them I was hungry, so they must be too. The hotel will definitely send some to them," Lu Jiaxin explained with a smile.
Having accompanied Lu Jiaxin on many outings, Qian Xiao Xiao had also learned that excellent service was commensurate with the price. Looking at the sweets and fruits, she asked, "Sister Jiaxin, these must be quite expensive, right?"
Lu Jiaxin hadn't stayed at this hotel before, so she wasn't sure. "Well, I'm not staying here every day. Once I confirm that Auntie and Haifan are safe, I'll be off to Venice."
She intended to make the most of her holiday before the company's opening, after which she would be busy. Traveling abroad required advance planning. She had considered abandoning the idea of starting a company and instead focusing on investing, relying on her memories from her previous life to ensure a comfortable financial situation. However, that thought quickly passed, and she decided to fulfill her dream of building her brand before becoming a lazy bum!
Qian Xiao Xiao felt dejected, as she had no idea when her passport would be ready.
Lu Jiaxin actually knew that Qian Xiao Xiao's passport was almost ready, but she didn't tell her and instead teased her, "Take this time to study English. Otherwise, when you get abroad, you won't understand a word of English, and you won't know how to handle things."
Qian Xiao Xiao nodded in agreement.
After a brief rest, Lu Jiaxin called Nie Zhan, "I'm back in Hong Kong and currently at the Mandarin Hotel."
Nie Zhan asked anxiously, "Why are you back in Hong Kong? Didn't we agree that you'd return at the end of the month?"
"You said Haifan denied taking Auntie's things, and I couldn't get through to him on the phone, so I came back because I was worried," Lu Jiaxin explained.
"Don't go anywhere from the hotel. I'll come to find you soon," Nie Zhan said.
"If you're busy, it's fine. The security at the Mandarin Hotel is good. Xiao Xiao is with me in one room, and Wen Feng and Zong Jinghua are in the room next door. Nothing will happen," Lu Jiaxin reassured him.
Nie Zhan had an appointment with a client, and the client happened to be on their way, so he couldn't leave at that moment. "Then I'll come to find you at 12:30."
"At noon, I have to discuss the Qirui matter with Su Heyuan. Come by after you're done with your business. Don't worry, I won't leave the hotel," Lu Jiaxin said.
"Okay," Nie Zhan agreed.
At noon, Su Heyuan didn't show up as he was having a pleasant conversation with a legislator over lunch, and he sent a bodyguard to inform Lu Jiaxin.
The fruits and sweets didn't satisfy her hunger, so after hanging up the phone, Lu Jiaxin prepared to go for lunch. As she was waiting for the elevator, the doors opened to reveal several familiar faces.
Nie Zhan's heart skipped a beat, and he asked, "Where are you going?"
"To the restaurant to eat. Do you want to join? Have you eaten yet?" Lu Jiaxin asked. After speaking, she noticed the unusual expression on Nie Zhan's face and added, "Are you afraid that something has happened to the Hes again?"
"No," Nie Zhan replied.
"Really?"
"Really, I'm not lying to you," he assured her.
Lu Jiaxin didn't press the issue further, and the two of them headed to the restaurant. As she was unfamiliar with the place, she randomly ordered a few dishes, but to her surprise, they all tasted delicious.
They sat in a corner where they could chat undisturbed. After Lu Jiaxin finished eating, Nie Zhan said, "Next time, let me know before you come back. No sudden appearances."
Realizing she was at fault, Lu Jiaxin quickly changed the subject, "When you saw me, you didn't seem surprised at all. Su Heyuan said I've become a dark-skinned girl."
Nie Zhan knew that women were sensitive about their appearance, and while she could call herself ugly, a man must never do so, or else face the consequences. "I think you look great."
"Which is better, fair skin or tanned skin?" Lu Jiaxin asked.
Nie Zhan didn't shy away from the question, "The way you are now is good. You look relaxed, unlike before when you always seemed tense. I was worried you'd collapse from exhaustion one day."
"That's because of the upcoming college entrance examinations. I had to focus and prepare for them. If I spent all my time playing like I am now, I wouldn't get into any university," Lu Jiaxin explained.
Nie Zhan felt that given her circumstances, she didn't need to worry about the exams. However, he didn't dwell on the topic, "Let's head back to the room."
"Okay," Lu Jiaxin agreed.
