Chapter 291: Mountain Dragon Soul (Clickbait, Enter with Caution)
"It's just Fairy Tail causing a ruckus again."
This brief statement quickly spread from person to person, reaching everyone who had taken shelter nearby.
After hearing this, people grumbled a few complaints before heading home.
They were used to it.
Before the development of 'Kildas Mode' in Magnolia, such incidents were even more frequent, and each time there was an unfortunate fellow who had to rebuild their house.
This time, with no casualties, it was considered a blessing, like a disaster drill.
Among the crowd, there were also mages from Fairy Tail.
Upon seeing the Guild Master's towering figure and hearing his apology, they returned home and went to sleep without any worries.
At most, they would complain a little more:
"Damn, they're even sticking together late at night, dating on the Guild Master's shoulder is too much!"
"Sorry, Guild Master, for causing you trouble."
"No, it's I who should thank you," Makarov said with relief, "It's fortunate that you suggested going to such a distant place."
Mila smiled, "If we had listened to the Guild Master and found a random place outside the city, it would have caused even more trouble."
"Alright, I'm heading back. Tomorrow, I need to apologize to the Mayor, and as for Rod..."
Mila raised a hand, "I'll take him back."
"Mhm, rest well," Makarov nodded and left with his hands behind his back.
Mila extended her arms towards Rod, "Do you want me to carry you back?"
Rod thought for a moment, "How about I try piggybacking instead?"
"Sure~" Mila found it amusing. She squatted slightly, supporting Rod's legs with both hands, allowing him to rest on her back. With a gentle push, she lifted him up.
It wasn't heavy for her anyway, whether she carried or piggybacked him made no difference.
However, she soon realized the difference.
"Don't let your hands drop!"
"Oh."
After walking a few steps, Mila asked, "That dragon, do you plan to receive it too?"
"It doesn't need to be received," Rod said, "Or rather, it doesn't need to be received like other wild monsters."
"What do you mean?"
"Hmm... It gave me something called the Mountain Dragon Soul. With that, I can directly use its power... In other words, it's equivalent to having already completed the initial reception."
Mila was delighted, "That's amazing!"
"But judging from today's summoning, the consumption will be terrifying too. I'll show you tomorrow; it might be really cool."
"Then I'll look forward to it," Mila said with a smile.
As she spoke, she turned her face slightly to the side, and Rod seized the moment to kiss her cheek.
"Hmph," Mila's hmph carried no anger; she gently tilted her head and bumped it against his head.
Rod laughed and hugged her tightly.
After walking a little further, Mila released him, her face slightly flushed.
"Ahem," Rod felt a little embarrassed, "How about I walk by myself?"
"No need, I have a better way."
"Huh?"
"Soul of Satan!"
"Hey, hey, hey..." A natural reaction, but not a capital offense!
However, Mila didn't punch him but directly carried Rod on her shoulder, wings spread, and flew back in less than a minute.
She didn't even bother with the door, directly breaking through the window on the second floor.
Glass shards scattered on the ground, and Mila shook off the glass debris from her body, then tossed Rod onto the bed.
Rod gazed at the pitch-black ceiling, his emotions mixed, feeling like a captive wife taken by bandits to their mountain stronghold.
The room's lights were turned on, and Mila had returned to her usual self. Seeing her 'masterpiece' born out of anger, she felt a bit embarrassed.
"Are you hurt?"
"Archmages are also prone to injuries when their Mana is depleted."
Rod pointed to his chest and then tapped his lips. "I got hurt here, and this is how I got better."
"I'm sorry, but you..."
Mila blushed and leaned down, gently tapping him.
Just as she was about to get up, Rod reached out and pulled her into an embrace.
"Ah..." Mila fell into Rod's arms, and her body was flipped, switching positions with him.
Rod looked at Mila, seemingly startled, and gently caressed her cheek. He waited for her to close her eyes and then leaned down, pressing his lips against hers.
Mila wrapped her arms around Rod's neck, and the two of them were lost in the moment for a while.
Rod's hands began to wander.
Mila's face grew increasingly flushed and alluring, and her breathing quickened.
Just as Rod's hand rested on her waistband, she grabbed his wrist.
"No!" Mila flipped over and pinned Rod's shoulders down. "You... you need to rest properly!"
"I'm not tired!"
"You are tired!"
Mila got off the bed and tried to escape... but she couldn't open the door.
The door was locked from the outside; she had exited through the window earlier.
Breaking another door would be too much, so Mila quietly crept back inside.
Rod sat by the bed, looking slightly troubled. He had to figure out if she was angry, embarrassed, or genuinely concerned about his well-being.
Mila also felt uncomfortable. She couldn't stay, and if she left abruptly, he might think she was angry. He might get mad too. Perhaps she should say something...
"Um..."
The two locked eyes, and Rod stepped forward, grabbing her hand. "I was too hasty. Are you feeling better?"
"I'm not mad, that's not what I meant. Today... tomorrow... no! Next time... I mean, later... Ah, never mind!" Mila's words were incoherent, and her face grew redder. How could she bring herself to say such things? "Anyway, I'm leaving. See you tomorrow!"
It was as if she had said everything and nothing at the same time.
Rod smiled and helped her straighten her clothes and hair, which had become disheveled. "See you tomorrow."
Mila fled, jumping out the window with a graceful movement. "I'll find someone to fix your window tomorrow!"
"Saying that as you're leaving, you sound like a thief in the night..."
Rod flopped onto the bed. So, she's leaving after the deed is done?
...
Elfman, who had been training at home, suddenly sensed a powerful Mana approaching.
He opened the door and saw Mila with the Soul of Satan, looking puzzled. "Sister? Is there an enemy?"
After a pause, he asked, "Why is your face so red?"
Mila resisted the urge to touch her face.
She glanced Elfman up and down and laughed when she noticed his sweaty appearance. "Are you training? Good timing. It's been a while since I last trained with you."
"Sis... sister?" Elfman tried to close the door.
Mila grabbed Elfman's wrist and threw him into the yard. "Come on, use the Beast King Soul."
...
The next morning, Rod and Mila went about their usual routine, handling the Guild's daily tasks.
Mila asked hesitantly, "Are you feeling better?"
Rod nodded. "Yes, my Mana has fully recovered."
Mila's hand trembled, and the pen she was holding threatened to snap. "Why didn't you come over for breakfast this morning?"
"Oh, maybe I was a bit tired and woke up late."
Rod stammered. He couldn't possibly tell her that he had taken a shower and washed his clothes that morning, causing the delay.
