Chapter 289: Third Team's Incident
Chapter 289: Third Team's Incident
After dinner, the six of them discussed taking turns keeping watch for the night and then went to sleep.
Li Qian's watch duty was scheduled for the last shift, from four to six in the morning.
With nothing else to do for the time being, Li Qian decided to take a rest in the tent.
They were inside a dimensional plane, unable to connect to the network, so he couldn't use his VR glasses to read.
Most importantly, within the dimensional plane, one must conserve energy and stay alert, as battles could occur at any moment.
The night passed without incident, and as dawn approached, Li Qian woke up promptly when the alarm went off.
When he stepped out of the tent, he saw Amy Liya daydreaming by the campfire.
Since he was the last watch shift, and it was almost dawn when he finished, Li Qian decided to pack up the tent.
"What are you thinking about?" Li Qian approached Amy and greeted her.
"Nothing much, just random thoughts," Amy replied casually.
Li Qian reminded her, "There's still some time; you can go back and catch some more sleep."
"Mhm," Amy nodded and prepared to return to the tent.
Li Qian walked over to the campfire and noticed the small folding chair on the ground, which made him smile.
He wondered which clever person had brought it, reminding him of his past train rides on the green-skinned train.
After a brief smile, Li Qian sat down on the folding chair without hesitation.
He took out a bottle of mineral water, toothpaste, and a toothbrush from his spatial necklace and calmly began to brush his teeth.
Since it was almost dawn, he decided to take it as an early morning routine.
After brushing his teeth, he took out a piece of bread and leisurely began to eat.
"You seem pretty relaxed," said Al Du, appearing from somewhere and teasing him.
Li Qian smiled and looked at Al Du, offering him some bread, "You're up early, have a bite."
"It tastes good," Al Du took the bread, tore off a piece, and chewed as he spoke.
"It's not bad. After spending so much time in dimensional planes, I've gotten used to it."
Li Qian was curious and asked, "What habit?"
"When it's safe, sleep more, and when it's dangerous, stay vigilant at all times," Al Du explained.
Li Qian sensed that he was intentionally sharing his experience, and a hint of gratitude flashed in his eyes.
"Logically, protecting us newcomers in the beginner zone should be safe, right?" Li Qian continued.
"Haha..." Al Du laughed heartily, "You're quite self-aware, and the Moonshadow Forest is indeed the beginner zone."
"However, dimensional planes are different from online games. They are always full of surprises and randomness. The so-called beginner zone is only relatively safe, not a place to rest easy."
Li Qian listened to these words, and although he still didn't fully understand, he nodded slightly.
The two of them chatted while having breakfast, discussing various matters related to the dimensional plane.
Through the conversation with Al Du, Li Qian gained a deeper understanding of the dimensional plane.
After chatting for about half an hour, just as Li Qian was about to get up and look for firewood, his temporary communication watch suddenly lit up.
"Beep, beep, beep..." The screen of the communication watch lit up with a red light, followed by a piercing alarm.
Al Du immediately rushed over, his figure as swift as lightning. When he saw the content on Li Qian's temporary communication watch, his expression changed abruptly.
"Third Team has encountered danger." After a glance at Li Qian's emergency communication watch, Senior Du immediately spoke up with a solemn voice.
"No, I have to go and help. I'll leave this to you." Senior Du was also decisive, making a swift decision upon seeing the distress signal on the emergency communication watch.
"Mhm." Li Qian nodded, not saying much more.
From the situation displayed on the emergency communication watch just now, it seemed like the circumstances were quite dire.
Li Qian was well aware of his true combat strength, which was average at best.
The fact that even the team leader had to send a distress signal meant that his presence would not significantly improve the situation.
There was also another crucial point—among this group of six freshmen, his combat strength was one of the top two.
With Senior Du gone, he had to shoulder the responsibility of protecting them.
"What happened?" Every freshman had an emergency communication watch, so the others naturally heard the sharp alarm and rushed out of their tents one after another. Ding Ganmao was the first to speak up.
Their gazes all fell upon Li Qian, as it was his turn to be on night watch, and he should have more information.
Seeing the confusion on everyone's faces, Li Qian immediately explained, "The third group encountered a dangerous situation and sent out a distress signal."
Without pausing, he continued, "Senior Du has already rushed to their aid."
"What? Something happened to Fei Fei's side? No, I have to go and help." Upon hearing Li Qian's explanation, Amy Liya's face immediately turned anxious.
"Yao Yan is also in the third group. I wonder if she's in danger too..." Wu Mingming also showed concern.
Seeing everyone's agitated state, as if they couldn't wait to rush over, Li Qian calmly advised, "My personal suggestion is that it's best if we stay here."
"Senior Du has already gone to help. They won't be in trouble..."
Wu Mingming shook his head repeatedly, "What if something happens? What if there's an issue?"
It was evident that he and "Yao Yan" had a good relationship, perhaps even as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Li Qian could understand his feelings, but at this moment, anxiety was of no use.
"What if something happens..." His expression was a bit helpless as he looked at Wu Mingming, "If something happens, what can we do if we go there?"
These words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Wu Mingming's head, chilling his enthusiasm.
Although Li Qian's words were a bit cruel, they were the truth. The situation was severe enough for a team leader to send a distress signal, and their presence there would be of no use.
They might even become a burden to the senior students.
"Then what should we do?" After hearing Li Qian's words, Wu Mingming was stunned for a moment before showing a look of confusion and helplessness.
"It's simple, just wait!" This time, the one who spoke up was Ding Ganmao.
It was clear that he agreed with Li Qian's plan.
"Just waiting like this isn't a solution. We can secretly observe from the outskirts. If we can help, we'll lend a hand, and if not, we'll retreat!" Wang Zonghan expressed his opinion.
