Chapter 289: The Knight's Spirit
Chapter 289: The Knight's Spirit
"He actually broke through?"
The giant was equally surprised by Karl's sudden advancement, but he quickly regained his composure.
Even among Second Rank beings, there were varying degrees of strength.
The giant had been Second Rank for a long time and had cultivated the Dragon Descendant's technique, making his abilities and skills far superior to an ordinary Second Rank.
Moreover, Karl had just advanced, and he should not have even grasped the fundamentals of the Second Rank. How could he possibly compare?
Azure Dragon's Claw!
The giant's ten fingers curled inward, and his arms shot forward, effortlessly piercing through the myriad of sword shadows.
"Ding, ding...clang, clang..."
The clashing sounds were incessant.
The two figures clashed in mid-air, and among the onlookers, only Lord Lenz, a First Rank, could barely make out the fight.
"Hmm?"
The giant's figure flickered, and his brows furrowed.
"What formidable swordsmanship!"
The giant's claw technique, enhanced by his position as a superior vassal and the blessings of the Lord God, had reached a level of mastery. Still, he couldn't gain the upper hand against Karl.
The broadsword in Karl's hand seemed to have a life of its own, accurately predicting the giant's next move.
Each strike was fierce, often catching the giant off guard, and the power behind them was equally terrifying, not at all like someone who had just advanced to the Second Rank.
"Clang!"
Claw and sword collided.
Both figures staggered, then clashed again with even greater ferocity.
Lord Lenz's eyes flickered as he watched, and seeing Karl gradually stabilize the situation, his heart sank.
When the giant had killed the Hell Hound earlier, he had been injured, and it was hard for him to maintain this intense standoff.
"Go!"
The giant turned to the two Blasphemy Beasts at his side:
"Help the Dragon Tyrant's Retinue kill Connie!"
"Roar!"
The Blasphemy Beasts let out low growls and transformed into two shadows, rushing forward at a speed that matched the Second Rank.
"Stop!"
"No!"
"..."
Upon seeing this, Riqier and Jier unconsciously shouted, only to meet Lord Lenz's icy gaze.
"What are you doing?"
Lord Lenz's eyes widened:
"How dare you attack me?"
He struggled to lift his hand and struck forward.
"Boom!"
Hum stumbled back, and the giant's events, and the wounds on his body reopened, causing his face to pale.
"Together!"
Nikko shouted and charged forward:
"I've had enough of the Cathedral's environment!"
Whether it was Hum or Nikko, they were both taciturn by nature, but they were also decisive.
On the other hand, Riqier and Jier were talkative but indecisive in crucial moments.
The two of them rushed to Lord Lenz, and although they were only Great Knights, they were more than a match for the injured Lord Lenz.
"Ah!"
"You...damn you!"
Lord Lenz roared, glancing at the other battle, a sinister smile appearing on his face:
"After I finish off Connie, I'll crush every bone in your bodies, one by one."
"Let others see the consequences of offending me!"
His words were directed at Riqier and Jier, and Karl's situation across the battlefield was indeed dire.
Struggling against the giant was already challenging, and with two Blasphemy Beasts that feared neither death nor pain, the situation became even more precarious.
"You beasts!"
Karl clashed swords with the giant and roared:
"Have you forgotten why you became like this? Forsaking your faith will never bring you salvation!"
"Help me kill the Demon Lord's vassal, and you might have a chance to receive the Lord's blessings!"
"Haha..." Lord Lenz couldn't help but burst into laughter:
"Connie, your mind is indeed abnormal. Blasphemy Beasts lack human intelligence. How could they possibly understand what you're saying?"
"Huh?"
Before he could finish his sentence, his eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the blasphemy beast in the arena.
The two beasts, after being scolded by Karl, froze for a moment, then slowly turned their gaze towards the giant.
With a roar, they pounced forward.
"How is this possible?"
Lord Lenz roared,
"Blasphemy beasts only obey the commands of the Holy Sanctuary priests!"
"Hmph!" Karl snorted coldly,
"Only with pure faith and adherence to the path of the Holy Knight can one receive the protection of the gods. There's nothing that can't be achieved."
Of course, he wouldn't reveal that he had evolved the Blasphemy Bloodline through the Triple Disciple Technique, thus gaining control over the beasts.
As a higher-ranked member of the Blasphemy Bloodline, he possessed dominance over the lower-ranked ones.
Everything,
was due to his 'pure faith'.
"Nonsense!"
Lord Lenz raged,
"It's impossible!"
His anger did nothing to change the current situation.
A chilling aura emerged, and a sword beam swiftly slashed across the giant's throat.
Fear Aura!
Essence +6
"Thud!"
The giant's body fell heavily, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Lord Lenz!"
Sir Karl strode forward, holding his broadsword, his face filled with determination.
"What do you have to say now?"
Lord Lenz's face twitched, and he gritted his teeth, roaring,
"After consuming the Blasphemy Elixir, you'll eventually turn into a blasphemy beast. Even if you still have your sanity for now, one day you'll become a monster!"
"You're beyond redemption!" Sir Karl's voice turned stern.
"If you apologize and repent, I can still give you a chance. But it seems you're still harboring evil thoughts."
"In that case, I have no choice but to kill you!"
What?
Apologize and live?
Lord Lenz was taken aback, opening his mouth to speak, but before he could, a flash of sword light passed before his eyes, and his head soared into the air, detached from his body.
Only one thought lingered in his mind.
Why didn't you tell me I could live?
"Hmm!"
After killing Lord Lenz, Sir Karl's face turned pale. He clutched his chest, staggered back, and quickly sat down to meditate.
"Sir Hum!"
"How are you?"
Dame Nikko and the other three rushed over.
"I'm fine," Sir Karl forced a smile and waved his hand,
"Breaking through during battle is a good thing, but the Blasphemy Elixir is also distorting my consciousness. Moreover, I was injured when I killed the Demon Lord's servant. I need some time to recuperate."
"Don't worry!"
He smiled at them, seemingly indifferent to life and death,
"You should quickly gather the fruits from the Golden Fruit Tree and let more people consume them to become Legends, rather than turning into mindless monsters."
"What about you, then?"
Unconsciously, Dame Nikko had begun addressing Sir Karl with respect, which the others found normal.
With such courage, righteousness, and consideration for others, how could one not admire him?
"I need to rest for a while."
Sir Karl paused, then said,
"Once I've recovered, I'll turn the situation around at the Holy Sanctuary and restore order to this chaos!"
'In Lord Lenz's memory, the Second Elder was suspected to be a Third Circle expert and had connections with the Dragon Tyrant's upper-ranked retinue.'
'Now that the other world can accommodate a Third Circle beginner, I'm not afraid, but I don't have full confidence, especially when acting on the enemy's home turf.'
'I should first gain control of the Flame Gateway and secure an escape route before taking action.'
'But mastering the Third Circle Sorcery won't be quick; it might take two or three years. In the meantime, I can use Sir Hum and the others to infiltrate the Holy Sanctuary.'
Sir Karl snapped out of his thoughts and lifted the curtain to look outside.
He had returned to the main world and was now riding towards the Wizard's Guild to attend their latest gathering.
This time,
the guild's president would make an appearance.
Sir Karl was curious about the mysterious president of the Wizard's Guild.
Official Wizard!
In the Eastern Kingdom, known as the Warlock Desert for its inability to access the Astral Plane, such individuals were rare.
"Whoa!"
Bastian waved the reins,
"Count, we've arrived."
"Hmm."
Sir Karl alighted from the carriage,
"Find a place to rest and wait for me."
"Yes, sir."
