Chapter 289: Divination with Dumbledore
Chapter 289: Divination with Dumbledore
On the second weekend, it was time for the Quidditch Tryouts to recruit new members.
However, this year was slightly different from previous years. Not only did Hufflepuff not require new players, but the other three houses also had no need for additional team members.
Among the four teams, only Malfoy was a new face; the rest were familiar faces from last year.
Kyle only watched the Quidditch pitch for five minutes before leaving.
It was too boring; he would rather discuss Runes with Riddle than waste his time here.
Of course, Kyle also fulfilled Riddle's previous request, but not for a fairy or a Bludger... Instead, he brought something else.
"Sorry, Tom, I was caught by Hagrid when I went to the Forbidden Forest. He's the gamekeeper and wouldn't let me go, but I found this."
Kyle placed an earwig on the diary.
As food for the Bludger... This creature could still be considered somewhat related to magical creatures.
Riddle didn't seem to mind whether it was an earwig or a Bludger; instead, he asked with interest:
[Is it Rubeus Hagrid?]
"I think that's his name. Do you know him?"
[In fact, we were classmates, but he was expelled for a serious mistake.]
[Do you want to know what happened? I can take you to see.]
"No!"
Kyle immediately wrote on the diary:
"I'm only interested in studying right now. Let's continue discussing Runes."
[What I mean is, Rubeus Hagrid's expulsion was also related to another matter, a legend circulating in Hogwarts about Slytherin's secret chamber...]
"What secret chamber? A greenhouse? That's none of my concern. Only studying can bring me happiness."
Before Riddle's words could fade, Kyle wrote in the blank space below:
"By the way, I still have some questions about the symbol representing 'light'. Is there another different order to the Runes that form it...?"
Kyle wrote a long passage, only stopping when there was no more space left.
Riddle was a bit stunned; this was the first time he had encountered someone who didn't follow the usual pattern.
This was a Hogwarts legend... and he had no interest in it at all?
To avoid raising suspicions, Riddle had to abandon his original plan and stopped mentioning anything related to the secret chamber. Instead, he turned to answer Kyle's questions.
Riddle and Kyle chatted for a long time, and by 6:00 pm, Kyle headed to the West Tower to attend Professor Flitwick's Charms Club.
There were more people here than in Professor McGonagall's class, around twenty, but Kyle didn't recognize any of them.
The content of the club focused more on practical applications, similar to dueling.
It was equally fascinating.
...
It had to be said that since joining the professors' clubs, Kyle had become busier than ever.
Especially after entering October.
The weekly Quidditch training sessions had also begun.
To accommodate Kyle's schedule, Harry specifically adjusted the training days to those when Kyle didn't have club meetings.
This meant that Kyle had plans for every evening, either going to the eighth floor, the West Tower, or the Quidditch pitch, and he could only return to the common room before curfew.
On top of that, there were the heavy assignments, keeping Kyle so busy that he wanted to apply for time conversion again.
There was no choice; Professor McGonagall only allowed him to skip classes but still required him to complete the assignments... This was to monitor his learning progress.
In order to squeeze out more time, Kyle set his sights on Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Although Defense Against the Dark Arts is a compulsory class and cannot be skipped, it's still possible to do other things during the lesson.
Professor Lo Hart stood at the podium, reciting passages from his own book, while Kyle sat in the back row, continuously writing on a piece of parchment with a quill.
From a distance, it appeared as if he was taking notes.
However, upon closer inspection, the content on the parchment had nothing to do with what Lo Hart was saying.
"The tea leaves formed the shape of an eagle, indicating that he has a mortal enemy, and the wooden stick beneath the eagle's claws suggests he will be attacked..."
Conna read the words on the parchment and whispered, "So, you have a mortal enemy too?"
"Oh, no, it's not mine," Kyle said casually. "I asked the house-elves in the kitchen to send a cup of tea to Professor Dumbledore, and he drank it."
"Are you making a prophecy for Professor Dumbledore?" Conna asked subconsciously.
Perhaps her voice was too loud, as it caught Lo Hart's attention.
"Miss Prince, do you have any questions about this passage?" he asked.

"Sorry, Professor, it's me," Kyle said, standing up first with the book "Wandering with Werewolves" in his hand.
"I've never quite understood the principle behind the Human Form Restoration Spell you mentioned earlier.
Is it a Transfiguration Spell? Or is it a special spell like Universal Counter-Spell that can dispel magical effects?"
"Both, my child," Lo Hart replied with a slight pause. "Although it's simple for me, the Human Form Restoration Spell is actually quite complex, involving a wide range of knowledge that you may not comprehend..."
Kyle looked at Lo Hart and smiled, "If it's you, there must be a way to make it understandable for us."
"Of course, I can," Lo Hart assured him.
"But it would take several classes, and I believe your Headmaster Dumbledore wouldn't approve of me doing that."
Lo Hart blinked, "But I'm glad you noticed that, Hufflepuff, five points..."
"Let's continue with the lesson, this is what you should be focusing on."
Kyle sat back down.
Dealing with Professor Lo Hart was quite simple, as long as you found the right approach.
"Thank you..." Conna whispered, "But weren't you reading a Divination book just now? How did it become 'Wandering with Werewolves'?"
"No change, it's always been Divination," Kyle said.
He spread the book in his hand, "I just swapped the covers of the books."
"I should have known," Conna muttered softly, then continued, "So, you were helping Professor Dumbledore with Divination?"
"It's quite accurate, isn't it?" Kyle smiled. "Everyone knows that Professor Dumbledore has a mortal enemy, and this prediction matches perfectly."
"What about the wooden stick representing the attack? Could anyone dare to attack Professor Dumbledore?"
"That's hard to say," Kyle stroked his chin thoughtfully. "It might be Fox... Haven't you noticed that Professor Dumbledore's beard is getting shorter? That's its doing.
In a way, this could also be considered an attack."
Conna frowned, skeptical of Kyle's words, but for the moment, she couldn't find any arguments to refute him.
