Chapter 287: The Professors' Clubs
Chapter 287: The Professors' Clubs
Just as the bell was about to ring, Kyle rushed into the classroom, and Professor McGonagall merely glanced at him without saying a word.
The third-year Transfiguration class had already begun learning animal transformations, and Professor McGonagall asked them to transform a button into a beetle, which was the opposite of what they had learned in the second year.
Although both were beetles and buttons, the difficulty levels were not even comparable.
By the end of the class, only Kyle had successfully completed the task, and Professor McGonagall, seeing the beetle scurrying around on the desk, awarded Hufflepuff fifteen points.
As for the others, Conna had transformed a beetle, but it moved stiffly and couldn't fly, barely qualifying as a half-finished product.
Most students could only manage to change the button into the shape of a beetle.
After class, the students began to leave the classroom, but Kyle was stopped by Professor McGonagall.
"Stay for a moment, I have something to discuss with you," she said.
"Yes, Professor," Kyle nodded and remained in place.
Once everyone had left, Professor McGonagall smiled and asked, "Are you interested in joining my Transfiguration Club?"
"Transfiguration Club?" Kyle asked.
"It's a club I personally founded," Professor McGonagall explained. "Twice a week, I teach more advanced content than what we cover in class. Of course, these topics are not related to exams and can only be considered a form of advanced classes."
"So, are you interested?"
"Of course," Kyle nodded without hesitation. "I'd be delighted to join."
Professor McGonagall was one of the most powerful Transfiguration masters in the wizarding world. If her Transfiguration Club were held outside of Hogwarts, it would be highly sought after, and people would eagerly compete with piles of Galleons to join.
Kyle had no reason to refuse.
"Then, the time is every Wednesday and Friday evening at seven o'clock," Professor McGonagall said.
Wednesday... wasn't that today?
"Where do I need to go? Is it the Transfiguration classroom?" Kyle asked.
"No," Professor McGonagall smiled. "It's on the eighth floor of the castle, near the right corridor, behind a painting of two goats."
"I'll be there on time."
...
After bidding farewell to Professor McGonagall, Kyle left the Transfiguration classroom.
Conna was waiting for him at the door.
"What did Professor McGonagall want with you?" she asked.
"Nothing much," Kyle said casually. "She just invited me to join her Transfiguration Club."
After saying this, Kyle turned his head slightly, expecting to see a surprised expression on Conna's face.
"Oh... so it's a club," Conna said without turning around. "I joined Professor Snape's Potions Club at the beginning of the school year. Why did you only join now?"
"Huh?" Kyle asked, surprised. "Professor Snape has a club too?"
"Of course," Conna replied. "Every professor can hold their own club and invite students from the third year and above."
"When we reach the sixth year, these members can directly enter the professor's advanced class," Conna explained. "Didn't you know that?"
Kyle shook his head; he genuinely didn't know.
"Professor Snape told me," Conna turned around. "I thought you were invited by the professor at the beginning of the school year, just like me. I didn't expect you to join so much later."
"Hehe... maybe the professor was busy," Kyle chuckled awkwardly, quickly changing the subject.
"By the way, what's the next class?"
"Charms," Conna replied.
...
It seemed like the professors had coordinated their plans, as after the Charms class, Professor Flitwick also invited Kyle to join his club.
"Of course I'm willing..." Kyle hesitated, then asked, "I also promised Professor McGonagall that I'd join her Transfiguration Club. Is that okay?"
"Of course it is," Professor Flitwick said with a smile. "In fact, many exceptional students do this. Like Bill Weasley... I think you know him, right?"
"Yes, I do," Kyle nodded. "The eldest of the Weasley family, working as a curse-breaker at Gringotts."
"That's right, him. He joined three clubs back in his school days - Charms, Transfiguration, and Potions..."
Professor Flitwick winked, "I think you can do it too."
"Not necessarily..." Kyle thought to himself.
There was almost no chance that Professor Snape would invite him... If he did, Kyle would have to consider if there was some hidden plot.
Upon learning that he could join two clubs simultaneously, Kyle readily accepted Professor Flitwick's invitation.
The location was an empty classroom in the West Tower, and the meetings were scheduled for Mondays and Saturdays.

Having joined two clubs in a row, Kyle could imagine that his days ahead would be busy, but it was worth it... After all, not everyone gets such an opportunity.
Time flew by, and before he knew it, it was already 6:50 pm.
Kyle stood in the corridor on the eighth floor, feeling a bit lost as he looked at the portraits.
He had already searched once, but he couldn't find a painting with two goats.
There was one with a single goat, though...
Kyle approached the end of the corridor, carefully examining the goat that was grazing inside and the old wizard tending to it.
Just as he got closer, the old wizard in the painting grumbled, "Hey, kid, don't get too close. It's all itchy and scratchy, and you'll dirty the frame!"
"Sorry..."
Kyle took a step back and asked, "Do you have another goat here?"
"Unless you can paint me another one..." The old wizard glanced at him.
"But do you want a Hippogriff?"
He pointed to a painting on the opposite wall, where a knight was leading a Hippogriff, muttering provocative words.
Kyle didn't mind, but the old wizard frowned in disgust, "Too noisy... Can you make him shut up?"
Kyle's heart stirred, and he transformed a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean into a thick velvet curtain, hanging it over the knight's portrait.
The sound instantly became much softer.
"Not bad Transfiguration," the old wizard said. "But I do only have one goat here."
"No, that's not right..." Kyle smiled, "That goat kept looking around, obviously searching for something... If I'm not mistaken, your Animagus form is a goat, Mr. Dikangrous."
"Do you know me?" The old wizard raised an eyebrow.
"I'm guessing."
"You're mentioned in 'A Guide to Basic Transfiguration.' The most famous Transfiguration master of the 18th century, who once turned a fire-breathing dragon into a goat and maintained the transformation for a whole hour."
"That's all in the past... Not worth mentioning."
The old wizard waved his hand and stepped out of the frame, "I've already transformed three times today... Minerva sure knows how to cause trouble."
When he returned, he had transformed into a goat.
At the same time, the top and bottom ends of the frame began to extend, growing larger. The protruding golden patterns on the sides intertwined, gradually forming a handle-like object.
