Chapter 287: Discovered
Chapter 287: Discovered
Lu Jiaxin called Su Hexuan's office again, but no one answered. She then tried his home number, and a servant informed her that he had not returned yet. Lu Jiaxin left no message and instead called Nie Zhan, but he didn't pick up either. Unfazed, she successfully reached Su Heming, and the two engaged in a conversation.
Su Heming, aware of her mountain climbing endeavors over the past half-month, teased, "You must have turned into a charcoal stick climbing in this scorching weather!"
Lu Jiaxin laughed, "Yes, I've turned into a tanned girl. But it's fine, I'll just stay indoors for a while, and my fair skin will return. How about you? Still busy?"
Su Heming expressed that things had eased up recently. "My brother poached an ex-deputy factory manager from a television factory. This guy is incredibly capable. Now he's in charge of production and safety at the appliance factory, so I only need to focus on sales."
Lu Jiaxin admired the other party's bold move, regardless of the reason for leaving their leadership position to join a private enterprise. "Such a talented individual deserves your full appreciation and utilization."
Su Heming affirmed, "Of course. We're offering an annual salary of 30,000 yuan, plus a year-end bonus. If he performs well, I'll even hand over my manager position to him in the future."
"By the way, my brother has raised over 30 million yuan, but it's not enough to buy your shares. Jiaxin, with the company doing so well, you should keep a portion for yourself."
Lu Jiaxin smiled, "I'm not selling. I'll keep 20% to 30% for myself. However, I'll transfer these shares under Xue Maoming's name instead of holding them directly."
Su Heming was puzzled, "Why transfer them to Xue Maoming? Even if you plan to establish your own brand in the future, it won't conflict with holding shares in Chery."
Lu Jiaxin didn't elaborate, only saying, "You'll understand later."
She wasn't the type to just take money and do nothing. While she wouldn't involve herself in Chery's internal affairs, she would guide Su Hexuan on the company's future development direction. A company with the right strategic vision would thrive, whereas one that made the wrong choices would soon be eliminated by the market.
Hearing her response, Su Heming didn't press further. Instead, he steered the conversation toward personal matters, "There's a girl pursuing me, and she's incredibly beautiful. I'm quite smitten."
"So, you're saying it's a no-go?" Lu Jiaxin asked.
Su Heming nodded, "Yes, she's looking to get married. I don't plan to settle down anytime soon, so I don't want to lead her on."
Lu Jiaxin couldn't exactly call him a playboy since he had been clear about his intentions from the start, and she respected that. "You'd better calm down and focus on your work!"
"Who are you to talk?" he retorted. "What are your plans for the future?"
Lu Jiaxin smiled, "No concrete plans. I'll enjoy these two months, then buckle down for classes when school starts. After that, I'll establish my own company."
Su Heming felt they were completely out of sync, "Who's asking about that? Geez. What about you and Nie Zhan? How's that going?"
Lu Jiaxin had no intention of sharing the details of her love life. "That's private, and I refuse to answer."
Su Heming grumbled, dissatisfied, "I shared my emotional business with you, and now you're keeping secrets. That's so petty!"
"You didn't have to tell me," Lu Jiaxin pointed out. "You did it of your own accord."
Su Heming thought this girl had a tight lip, but he couldn't deny that Nie Zhan was indeed outstanding and hardly someone one could find fault with. Changing the subject, he said, "I know a friend in the antique business. I recall your fondness for calligraphy and porcelain."
"So, does this person have something good?" Lu Jiaxin inquired.
Su Heming nodded, "Yes, they have a few exquisite pieces.
Su Heming mentioned, "Among them is a Yuhuchun vase, very exquisite, I think you'll like it."
"How much is it?"
"He's asking for 50,000 yuan, and I know he bought that vase for just 1,000 yuan, so I haggled and offered 30,000. He bargained down to 10,000 in foreign currency, and I agreed." Su Heming said, "If you don't want it, I'll keep it for myself."
"What's this? Have you been making a lot of money lately?"
This guy earns 3,000 yuan a month, which is considered a high salary in the inland region. Given his lack of financial restraint, Su Hexuan takes care of the bonus and invests it without involving Su Heming. There's no other way; money disappears quickly once it's in his hands.
Su Heming said, "Recently, I did a small business deal with a friend and made over 20,000 yuan. I just need to advance my salary, and I'll be fine. Jiaxin, I assure you that the items are genuine. Do you want them?"
Lu Jiaxin said, "I want not only the Yuhuchun vase but also the other exquisite pieces, as long as they are authenticated by experts."
Antiques were affordable in the mainland at the time, and it would be foolish not to buy them. They could sell the valuable or research-worthy pieces and keep the rest for themselves or sell them to acquaintances for a profit.
Su Heming said, "That guy wants foreign currency, but I don't have enough. I can pay a deposit on your behalf. By the way, when are you coming back? He can't wait too long."
"It's fine," Lu Jiaxin replied. "I can get the money from your brother."
Su Heming thought this was a good idea and joked, "You can ask him for any amount, but when I ask him for money, he scolds me. Hey, he's more generous with you, his little sister-in-law!"
Lu Jiaxin laughed and scolded him, "Su Heming, what do you mean by that? Who's a dog in this situation?"
Whenever Lu Jiaxin had time, Su Heming would keep her on the phone, and this time was no exception. They chatted for over an hour before finally hanging up.
After taking a sip of water, Lu Jiaxin commented, "This guy, doesn't his throat hurt from talking so much every day?"
Whenever she talked too much, her throat would feel like it was on fire and hurt terribly.
Qian Xiaoxiao thought that Su Heming must be used to talking so much by now. However, she personally didn't like people who talked too much: "I don't know why so many girls like him."
"He's handsome, generous, and a smooth talker. It would be hard for him not to be popular," Lu Jiaxin replied.
Qian Xiaoxiao felt that men who were too flashy were unreliable, but since it didn't concern her, she didn't say anything further.
At eight o'clock in the evening, Lu Jiaxin called Su Hexuan and learned something from him. Twelve days ago, He Zhuliang had found out about Gu Xiuxiu's illness and immediately brought her and Gu Haifan back to the old mansion.
Lu Jiaxin's expression changed as she asked, "Why didn't you inform me of something so important?"
She had been sightseeing on Mount Hua and couldn't be reached by phone, but they could have sent her a message through someone. Had she received the news, she would have immediately returned to Hong Kong City.
Su Hexuan explained, "I originally wanted to ask Lao Sun to send someone to Mount Hua, but Nie Zhan said that it might be dangerous for you to return at this juncture."
"The 2 million yuan and the Causeway Bay shop that Ms. Gu gave you, you didn't take them for yourself but donated them instead. If you hadn't shown up, all of that would have gone to He Zhuliang. You've caused him a huge loss. At this point, he might think that you're back to fight him for the property, and he may try to harm you."
He felt that Nie Zhan's words made sense. Besides, Lu Jiaxin had never intended to take Ms. Gu's money, so it was better for her not to return. Once He Zhuliang had dealt with Ms. Gu's property, it would be safer for her to come back.
