Chapter 284: Wizardry
Chapter 284: Wizardry
Despite his words, Karl still took out the Blasphemy Elixir and drank it down.
Even if it was the blood of a Demon Lord, he wasn't afraid; instead, he could transform it into Essence to increase his own strength.
But unfortunately.
The Demon Lord substance in the Blasphemy Elixir did not contain Essence.
Karl swallowed it, not to rely on the elixir to change himself, but to use the Triple Disciple Technique to refine it.
The Triple Disciple Technique was adept at the way of change, and it could completely evolve an advanced state by borrowing the things within the elixir.
In terms of rank.
The complete version of the Triple Disciple Technique was at least Fifth Tier, possibly even higher than the Demon Lord 'Pale Wing'.
"Hmm!"
With a muffled grunt, Karl's eyes widened.
His pupils silently turned pitch-black, like a passage to hell, and even his hair became silver-white, and his facial features and physique underwent a certain degree of change.
Bewitching!
Handsome!
...
The battle aura that permeated his body was more like strands of pale white ribbons, exuding a breath that devoured all life.
Behind him, a pair of wings faintly appeared.
Pale Wing!
Moving his limbs, Karl muttered softly:
"Like this, I should be able to deceive the upper echelons of the Holy Sanctuary, right?"
Steeling himself, his gaze turned to his data panel.
Name: Karl
Constitution: 49.6
Mental Power: 50.3
Essence: 416
Level: Holy Knight, Third Circle Warlock
Abyss Bloodline Fusion: 85%
The data panel showed an Essence of over 400, giving Karl a sense of security in his heart.
Even with a ratio of twenty to one, such a large amount of Essence could still allow Mental Power to break through the seventy-thousand mark.
In other words, a Mid-Third Circle Warlock!
However, he wasn't in a hurry to increase his cultivation at the moment.
Firstly,
Cultivation always became more difficult the further one progressed, so it was more efficient to save it for later stages.
Secondly,
Since advancing to the Third Circle Warlock, the fusion of the Great Squid's Bloodline had been rapidly increasing, and his constitution was also strengthening. It wasn't advisable to interrupt this progress by using Essence to boost cultivation.
"Let's wait until the bloodline fusion reaches 100%, and my constitution exceeds fifty, becoming a Forbidden Knight, before we discuss it further."
The Royal City.
The snowstorm yesterday blanketed the entire city in thick winter attire.
Wheel tracks pressed into the snow-covered road, and on either side of the street, residents were clearing the snow from their doorways.
"Huff..."
Bastian waved the reins to stop the carriage, and he brought out a stool and cloak to attend to Karl as he alighted.
Stepping down from the carriage, Karl looked towards the manor ahead.
Unlike his estate in the suburbs, this area was close to the core of the Royal City, where land was as precious as gold.
To build such a luxurious manor here, one could imagine the owner's influence and wealth.
"Earl Conne."
A middle-aged priest approached:
"You're here."
"Hmm." Karl nodded, following the priest into the manor, and asked:
"When did Earl Jeff's condition start?"
"Half a year ago." Swinburne was the priest on this street, and also a subordinate of Remille.
He spoke:
"Half a year ago, Earl Jeff went out, and upon his return, he became listless, and his mental state deteriorated."
"I cast a Holy Spell on him, and invited a physician, but the effect wasn't noticeable.
"Some days ago, Bishop Louis came, saying you might have a way."
"Hmm." Karl nodded, the priest's curious gaze, even the Holy Spell and top physician couldn't cure.
But Bishop Louis's words, he didn't question.
"Creak... Creak..."
Treading on the thick snow, their footsteps made a rhythmic sound as they followed the manor servant's guidance to a warm room.
In the center of the warm room lay a soft bed, where an elderly man with white hair rested, his breath faint.
Karl's eyes narrowed:
"Earl Jeff?"
"Yes." The priest sighed:
"That's Earl Jeff. The earl is only thirty this year, but he looks like a sixty or seventy-year-old."
"Hmm." Karl stepped forward, glancing casually:
"You cast a permanent Holy Spell on him?"
Holy Spells were indeed miraculous, but their duration was usually short, and only by paying a great price could one make a Holy Spell permanent.
The Loom of the Fates bestowed upon Carl was an incredibly rare and powerful Tier 5 or even Tier 6 constant divine spell.
The same was true for the divine spell on Geoff, the Earl, though it was of a much lower tier—a Tier 1 Life Blessing. Despite this, it was still an extremely rare occurrence.
"Yes."
The priest responded softly, "As the Duke requested."
Duke?
Carl understood.
Geoff, the Earl, had a good father, one of the four current Dukes of the kingdom, and he carried the bloodline of the gods.
However, unlike the Dukes from other worlds, the Dukes of this world were accustomed to a life of luxury. Aside from the Dukes of the Kingdom of Cologne, few Dukes from other nations possessed Tier 3 Forbidden Knights.
It was common knowledge that Dukes were born as legendary beings, and with a little effort, they could become Tier 2 beings.
"His body is weak, and his spirit is frail."
After a brief examination, Carl nodded, "I understand the situation now."
"Then..." the priest began, "How does the Earl intend to treat this?"
"The patient's condition is quite peculiar. I need to return and give it some thought. I can't give you an answer right now." Carl said, "I'll come back in a few days once I've figured it out."
"But..." the priest hesitated, "Alright then!"
...
On the way back, Carl sat in the carriage, his eyes half-closed, and a slight smile on his lips.
"Wizardry..."
Only wizardry could torment an Earl under the protection of a divine spell.
It was fortunate that Geoff, the Earl, had the strength of a Great Knight and was protected by the divine spell cast by the priest; otherwise, he would have died years ago.
There must be an ulterior motive for casting a curse on an Earl with a ducal background.
"Hmm..."
Suddenly, Bastien halted the carriage and shouted at the person blocking their path:
"What are you doing?"
"The road is slippery after the snowfall. You appeared out of nowhere. What if I couldn't stop in time and hit you?"
"Alright." Carl said from within the carriage, "Let them in."
"Huh?" Bastien was taken aback as the person blocking their way leaped onto the carriage and slid into the cabin with agile movements.
"Count Connie."
The person who entered removed their hat, revealing delicate and beautiful features. It was a charming lady. "My name is Yula, Geoff's sister. I've heard of you before, but this is our first meeting."
"Lady Yula." Carl looked at her, seemingly unperturbed by her sudden visit. After a brief assessment, he said, "I didn't expect you to be a legendary knight."
"For people like us, becoming legendary isn't that difficult." Yula's face showed a hint of strangeness, "Even with a diluted bloodline."
"It's more unusual for someone like my brother, who hasn't shown much growth from birth to adulthood."
Carl nodded.
Yula also carried the bloodline of a Duke, and although she wasn't born a legendary being, she wasn't far off. With a little effort, she could reach the legendary tier.
Their bloodline didn't have the limitations of breaking through tiers.
"Does Miss Yula want to inquire about Earl Geoff's condition?"
"Yes."
Yula nodded, her eyes showing a hint of strangeness. "I didn't expect there to be a formal wizard living in the royal city. Someone wants to meet you."
"Who?" Carl asked, "The one who cursed Earl Geoff?"
He shook his head slightly, "I'm a white wizard, and I abide by the agreement between the gods and wizards. I won't harm anyone on this continent, but someone has clearly broken the rules."
"Count Connie." Yula frowned, "Perhaps..."
"Is this someone doing it on purpose? You went to my brother's manor, and no one received you? Even if you cure him, what reward can you expect?"
"Hmm..." Carl considered, "So, you want to take Geoff's bloodline for yourself?"
Yula neither confirmed nor denied, saying, "Count Connie, there's a wizard's guild in the royal city. Are you interested in becoming the vice president?"
