Chapter 284: Aural City's Final Battle (7) - Village Chief is Awesome!
Chapter 284: Aural City's Final Battle (7) - Village Chief is Awesome!
After Aileen left with Bahamut, Elyse's expression turned grave.
The Star Boundary Cat and the Dragon Emperor had neutralized each other, putting their side at a significant disadvantage once more. Moreover, she had no more cards to play!
In other words, she couldn't turn this disadvantage around!
The rebel forces' powerful warriors also caught on.
Without needing the urging of the two Dukes, these 200-strong warriors immediately sprang into action, pressing forward against the Imperial forces' strongholds.
Kael, the Beastman High Priest, pulled out a war drum, beating out a "boom boom boom" rhythm, and loudly chanted in the Beastman language, which humans couldn't understand. A thin layer of red mist, conveyed through the war drum, enveloped each friendly high-ranking warrior, granting them additional power, intelligence, and speed attributes;
Thorne, the Beastman Sword Saint, unleashed his Shadow Clone skill, splitting into three after a brief flicker, and launched a three-pronged attack on Royal Mage Sharran. One true form and two clones supported each other, making it momentarily impossible to distinguish reality from illusion;
Prince Gavin IV of Demacia swung his arm, planting a Demacian Military Banner at the center of the troops, providing all friendly units with buffs to attack speed, strength, and movement speed;
Ragnar, the Storm God, who had once made a deal with Su Yu, burst forth in an instant. His ultimate skill, Lightning Whip, covered half the sky, as massive, forked lightning bolts indiscriminately pounded the Imperial camp.
……
Facing this overwhelming onslaught, the Imperial forces' strongholds hit an all-time low in morale.
Just as they teetered on the brink of despair, each of their ears picked up Star Boundary Cat Aileen's telepathic message:
"Everyone, hold on! I'll take care of this giant lizard and then come to your aid. Don't worry, this lizard isn't my match; I'll defeat it soon, and all you need to do is hold on! You must hold on!"
Aileen's message pulled the Imperial forces' strongholds back from the edge of despair, rekindling a glimmer of hope.
Although everyone knew Aileen was unlikely to defeat the Dragon Emperor quickly, since she said so, there was still a chance for victory!
Elyse also addressed her strongholds: "Everyone, you must persevere! After winning this battle, the rewards from our ancestors will be substantial! Sharran, Roland, Andrew, this might be your only chance to ascend to the Seventh Rank's peak! You must hold on."
The trio nodded in unison, aware that, given their level, receiving guidance from the Guardian Deities was the only way to advance further.
A resolute glint flashed in their eyes as they replied in unison: "Everything is for the Empire! We're willing to fight for the Empire!"
"We're willing to fight for the Empire!" The other Imperial strongholds echoed, their battle spirit rekindled.
……
Just then, the rebel forces' high-ranking warriors rapidly closed in, and the Imperial strongholds bravely counterattacked, sparking another fierce aerial battle.
This battle, however, would be even more brutal than the last.
Seventh-Rank strongholds fared relatively well, with injuries but no fatalities. Fifth- and Sixth-Rank strongholds, though, fell like "dropped dumplings" from the sky, with a stronghold dying every few seconds.
Due to the Imperial forces' weaker state, the death toll among their strongholds was slightly higher.
The scene shifted back to Su Yu.
By this time, Su Yu had logged back in, rejoining the battle from the respawn point at the rear.
He, too, received Star Boundary Cat Aileen's telepathic message.
However, he also shared the skepticism about Aileen's ability to defeat Bahamut, the Dragon Emperor, in a short time.
The battles of peak seventh-stage powerhouses are often measured in days, with fights lasting ten to fifteen days being quite common.
Even if the Starcat Aileen could defeat Bahamut, how many of the empire's strong warriors would remain after such a grueling battle? By then, it's likely that all the fifth and sixth-stage warriors would be dead, leaving only a few seventh-stage survivors!
Moreover, if Aileen can't defeat Bahamut or gets stuck in a stalemate, both the princess and Tina would die in this battle!
Su Yu absolutely cannot accept that!
Some might ask: what can Su Yu, a pseudo-sixth-stage warrior who was forcibly elevated, do?
Ironically, Su Yu does have the ability to turn the tide of the battle!
He quickly rummages through his inventory, pulling out a scroll from the very bottom—the Mass Summoning Scroll.
Mass Summoning Scroll (Consumable)
Remaining Uses: 1
Usage: Shout "The Village Chief is Handsome!" at the scroll.
Effect: Summons the Village Chief, Jenny, and Woodcutter Beru to your side for one hour.
Note: Jenny's combat desire decreases by 50% when she encounters attractive male humans; Village Chief and Woodcutter Beru occasionally bicker, reducing their combat effectiveness by 30%. (Scroll expires in 346 days.)
This scroll was a hidden reward Su Yu received after some negotiations during the 50th quest of the Princess' storyline. Later, Alyzet, being too busy, never mentioned the Village Chief again, and Su Yu forgot to tell her about it.
Now, the only hope Su Yu has is the Village Chief. He hopes the old man can turn the tide!
"Village Chief is Handsome!" Su Yu raises the scroll high and shouts.
As soon as Su Yu finishes speaking, a deep blue, wave-like light emanates from the scroll. A massive summoning circle appears beneath Su Yu, and three figures gradually materialize within it.
At the same time, in thousands of beginner villages, new players are queuing up at the village square to turn in their quests.
Suddenly, the Village Chief vanishes in a flash of white light, leaving no trace.
The new players are stunned.
"Hey, where's the Village Chief? Why did he suddenly disappear?" one player asks anxiously.
"I don't know, I've never heard of this happening before," another player scratches his head.
"Is it a bug?"
"It can't be a bug. The government's official website said this game was created from a broken world by the Singer civilization, so there are no bugs."
"Should we wait a bit longer?"
"We have no choice but to wait."
The arrival of the Village Chief and his companions immediately draws the attention of all the powerful warriors present, causing a brief pause in their intense battle.
Everyone turns to look at the Village Chief.
When he sees the Village Chief, Anzu Seifer's eyes narrow. "The Village Chief of Sunny Breeze Village? Why are you here?"
Like Alyzet, Anzu Seifer only knows of the Village Chief as a reclusive powerhouse and has no idea of his true identity, let alone that he would appear here.
Alyzet, however, is overjoyed!
Through her senses, she realizes that not only is the Village Chief a seventh-stage powerhouse, but the two figures beside him are as well!
Having three additional seventh-stage powerhouses on their side is like a much-needed lifeline!
