Chapter 283: Strange Actions
Chapter 283: Strange Actions
Even if Sherlock hadn't reacted in time, the Killing Curse wouldn't have hit him.
This was the first thought that came to mind after Sherlock blocked the attacker's spell.
This didn't mean that the Black-robed Wizard didn't intend to kill him. Rather, something was clearly wrong with Sherlock's body. The hand holding the wand was trembling uncontrollably, making it impossible to aim accurately from such a distance.
Once Sherlock identified the Black-robed Wizard's position, he had no intention of communicating with him. The Killing Curse alone was enough to reveal the attacker's intentions. Sherlock simply waved his wand lightly.
No spell incantation was heard, but an invisible blade materialized in the air, crossing the ten or so meters in an instant and striking the Black-robed Wizard the moment it formed!
A sudden blue light illuminated the area, forming a protective, eggshell-like arc around the cloaked figure.
The invisible magical blade and the powerful Armor Charm clashed, but the Black-robed Wizard didn't stop advancing. Each step seemed laborious as he continued moving toward Sherlock.
Sherlock sensed something was off. Fluffy had run away at the start of the battle, and only Xiao Fei remained, circling overhead.
If not for their binding contract, Xiao Fei would have fled faster than Fluffy, caring little for Sherlock's fate.
Sherlock didn't want to prolong the confrontation, fearing unexpected complications. According to the time he sent his Patronus to notify Dumbledore, Dumbledore and his team should have already arrived in the Forbidden Forest by now. Yet, he hadn't heard a sound.
Sherlock scattered a handful of wands around himself, floating in the air. As he controlled these wands to aim at the Black-robed Wizard, the Dark Lord, who had remained silent throughout, suddenly released a small glass bottle!
The glass bottle, seemingly under the influence of an Accio spell, flew up from the Black-robed Wizard and shot directly toward Sherlock!
Sherlock's brow furrowed. He didn't move, but from a distance of about seven or eight meters, he used Control Magic to cast a simple Standard Disenchantment, attempting to remove the magic from the bottle.
His counter-curse succeeded, but the moment the magic was dispelled, the bottle exploded!
"Bang!"
The sharp sound of shattering glass echoed, and a dark green shadow emerged from the bottle, hurtling toward Sherlock with incredible speed!
The green shadow moved much faster than the glass bottle, crossing the short distance in the blink of an eye and lunging at Sherlock's face!
However, just as it approached within a meter of Sherlock, a pale blue light shield suddenly illuminated around him.
In every practical Dark Magic Defense class, Sherlock emphasized the importance of casting an Armor Charm before engaging in battle. He, of course, adhered to this practice himself.
Only then did Sherlock fully see the true form of the green shadow that had emerged from the exploded bottle.
This appeared to be a strange snake, slender and entirely green, about the size of an earthworm, but it moved with astonishing speed.
Just as the Armor Charm deflected the snake, which seemed to be preparing to ambush, the snake suddenly opened its mouth wide, and its entire body exploded!
The explosion of this strange snake was not very powerful, less threatening than the glass bottle. The splattered blood didn't even trigger the Armor Charm's protective reaction, landing on Sherlock's robe and staining a large area.
Some of the sticky liquid also landed on his face, and Sherlock's first reaction was to suspect that the snake's blood was toxic.
Although his nose did detect a faint, slightly fishy smell, there was no foul odor, and the skin that came into contact with the liquid didn't feel any discomfort.
He didn't take any chances and immediately used the scouring charm on his entire body, cleaning off all the debris from the snake's explosion. However, the faint, fishy smell lingered.
Sherlock's frown deepened. Even though he hadn't suffered any real harm yet, the series of tactics used by the opponent still made him feel uneasy.
At that moment, from deep within the Forbidden Forest, not too far from Sherlock, several deafening roars echoed through the air!
...
Harry didn't wait until midnight to visit Hagrid as they had agreed during the day.
Because he had another appointment with Sirius Black later in the night, he decided to come to Hagrid's hut forty minutes earlier.
At 11:20 PM, he knocked on Hagrid's door.
Hagrid looked especially different today. He had a flower pinned in his buttonhole, and his hair was clearly styled, though it seemed he had given up on using oil. There were still traces of combing visible in his hair.
Hagrid didn't seem to mind Harry's early arrival. He just mysteriously told Harry to put on his Invisibility Cloak and instructed him to follow closely behind. Without waiting for any questions, Hagrid led him to the Beauxbatons students' residence, the palace-like carriage.
Under the Invisibility Cloak, Harry watched in amazement as Hagrid invited Madame Maxime for a night outing.
If he hadn't known Hagrid well enough to trust that he wouldn't play a prank on him, Harry would have turned around and left.
"Trust me, it's definitely worth seeing!"
Hagrid loudly replied to Madame Maxime's question, ensuring Harry that he was not being misled.
Out of trust in Hagrid, Harry had no choice but to follow the two of them into the Forbidden Forest, feeling like a third wheel.
Enduring their flirtatious conversation, Harry didn't know how long he had been walking. It was only when he realized he hadn't seen Hogwarts Castle or the Black Lake for the past half hour that a sound, capable of tearing his eardrums, caught his attention.
Hagrid and Madame Maxime had stopped in front of a patch of grass, and Harry carefully moved forward to join them.
In that moment, he saw a sky filled with flames and the colossal creatures separated by fences!
Dragons!
