Chapter 282: Lord Night's Strength
Chapter 282: Lord Night's Strength
After handing Alice to Delta and giving instructions not to kill him, Alpha and Beta slowly approached the battlefield where Ye Cheng was fighting the demons.
Watching Ye Cheng battle the demons, Beta couldn't help but ask, "With Lord Night's strength, dealing with Diabrosects of this level should be a simple matter, right? Why waste so much time and put on such an intense fight?"
Alpha and Beta were well aware of Ye Cheng's capabilities.
If there was anyone in this world who could be compared to Lord Shadow, the almost invincible figure in their minds, it would undoubtedly be Lord Night.
Previously, when Lord Shadow and Lord Night had their friendly sparring match, the Seven Shadows were fortunate enough to be among the spectators.
The chosen location for their battle was a desolate mountain range in the northern part of the kingdom.
After that battle, the hundreds of towering mountains in that area, along with several continuous mountain ranges, completely vanished from the map, starting from that very day! Beta now believed that even with just five percent of Lord Night's strength, he could instantly annihilate the demon before him. Yet, Lord Night seemed to be deliberately choosing a more time-consuming approach.
"Lord Night must be trying his best to save the girl who has transformed into this state."
Just as she had predicted, Alpha voiced her thoughts. As the leader of the Seven Shadows, Alpha was undoubtedly the strongest among those beneath Lord Shadow, and her ability to perceive and control mana was truly exceptional.
By sensing the mana attached to Ye Cheng's sword, she had an idea of his intentions.
"Even in this state of corruption, with the blood of a heroic descendant flowing through her, can she still be saved?"
Beta's face showed surprise as she asked this question upon hearing Alpha's words.
In the past, only Lord Shadow and Lord Night had the ability to save those who had gone berserk due to demon possession.
However, during their subsequent training, the Seven Shadows also acquired this skill, which eventually led to the establishment of the Shadow Courtyard.
While they could save some of those possessed by demons, it wasn't possible to save them all, as it depended on the stage of their frenzy.
Just like the demon before them, the Seven Shadows were helpless to do anything but grant a quick release from their suffering.
"We couldn't possibly do it, but for Lord Night, it should be no problem.
Without unleashing his true strength, if he were to get serious, this demon would be instantly annihilated by Lord Night.
Moreover, I can sense that the mana on Lord Night's sword is incredibly gentle, as if he's trying to regulate the frenzied Diabrosect factor within her."
With Alpha's explanation, the others from the Shadow Courtyard now looked at Ye Cheng in the midst of battle with even greater respect and admiration.
For the members of the Shadow Courtyard, Lord Shadow and Lord Night were like true gods they worshipped, and they had even granted them a second life.
Compared to Lord Shadow, who was known for his proud personality and always remained calm and wise in his actions, Lord Night possessed a gentler and more compassionate character. Whether it was towards the Seven Shadows or the ordinary Numbered, Lord Night was consistently amiable and polite.
Just like the scene they were witnessing now, this demon, who had already fallen into depravity, could have been easily dealt with by Lord Night with a single strike of his sword.
In order to save her, Lord Night was willing to spend more time and effort to try and rescue the girl.
It should be known that from a positional standpoint, she is currently an enemy.
The dazzling slashes continued to bloom in the darkness, and each of Yecheng's strikes, while seemingly harming the girl, were actually helping her, just as Alpha had said.
Using Mana to mimic the "Return Path," Yecheng pierced the girl's body with his longsword while also using his own Mana to suppress and regulate the rampaging Mana within her.
During the years of her captivity, who knows how many experiments those heartless bastards conducted on her body.
Simply suppressing the rampaging Mana within her wouldn't do; it would also lead to the end of her life.
So, while helping the girl suppress her Mana, Yecheng also eliminated some of the dross within her, preserving the Diabros power and giving her some of his own Mana to extend her life, ensuring she wouldn't die from this rampage.
Suppress, regulate, bestow, extract the essence, remove the dross, and suppress his strength to avoid dealing a fatal blow—this entire process was, to be honest, not easy, even for Yecheng.
The reason Yecheng went to such lengths was simply because of a glance from the girl when Jeno Gulifi first brought him to the secret base.
Those eyes, how to describe them... Despite her consciousness being shattered and her sanity nearly lost, her desire for life remained strong and clear.
Yecheng also felt partly responsible for the girl's current state, as he had initially held back, waiting to see if he could lure out bigger fish.
If he hadn't planned to draw out other targets and had directly confronted Jeno Gulifi, perhaps the girl wouldn't have ended up like this.
So, perhaps a part of his actions now was also to atone for his guilt towards her.
After over ten minutes, when Yecheng's final strike pierced the Demon's chest, a powerful white light erupted like a sun in the night, blinding everyone present.
When Alpha and the others recovered, they saw a blonde girl, now unconscious, in Yecheng's arms.
She was in a peaceful slumber, her naked body covered by Yecheng's jacket.
"Following the usual practice, leave her to you, 'Shadow Courtyard,' for training. Once this is over, leave quickly and ensure no one finds out about my involvement with you."
Alpha was surprised as she took the unconscious girl from Yecheng. She hadn't expected him to actually save the girl who had fallen and become a Demon.
And despite being an ordinary human, after such a Mana rampage, her life miraculously continued.
Alpha could even sense the astonishing amount of Mana within the girl, not as powerful as the "Seven Shadows," but far surpassing a typical "Numbered" individual.
"Lord Night, did you bestow power upon her?"
"I had no choice. She's probably been with the Diabros for several years, and the Diabros factor within her is intense. It's hard for her to suppress it with her own Mana, so I had to give her some of my Mana as well."
