Chapter 281: The Imaginative Shadow Courtyard Girl
Chapter 281: The Imaginative Shadow Courtyard Girl
The two methods Alice mentioned earlier to defeat the monster before them were indeed easily achievable for Yecheng, but he had no intention of choosing either approach at this moment.
Alice and her party were unaware of the full story; they only perceived the monster before them as a threat to the capital city.
However, Yecheng was well aware of the truth. The seemingly hideous monster was, in reality, a pitiful existence.
The Possessed Demon were descendants of heroes, cursed to experience mana rampage, but the so-called "Diabros' Sons" were even more unfortunate.
Many of them should not have been burdened with such a curse, but due to being kidnapped, they became victims of Diabros' greed, turning into experimental subjects and transforming into all sorts of bizarre beings.
When Yecheng first encountered the monster, he immediately sensed something familiar. Despite the monster's drastic transformation, he recognized the ugly creature as the very girl he had seen at Genos Gulify's base.
Even though the girl's appearance had changed significantly, and her mana was now vastly different, Yecheng's 'Aura Detection' easily saw through her disguise, just as he had previously discerned that Shadow was Sida.
The aura of her soul remained as clear as before, allowing Yecheng to identify her.
The mana-infused longsword left gashes on the massive demon's skin, one after another.
What caught Alice's attention was that the injuries Yecheng inflicted on the monster did not regenerate due to its self-healing ability! Furthermore, regardless of the severity of the wounds they had previously inflicted, the monster never cried out in pain or ceased its actions, as if it lacked both pain receptors and rationality.
However, the current situation was slightly different. Under Yecheng's continuous slashes, the previously silent monster now emitted piercing screams of agony, and its body began to shrink.
"As expected of Lord Night, the girl's mana has reached the brink of rampage, even entering its final stage, yet he can still suppress and disperse her rampant mana."
Although Alice was unsure of Yecheng's actions, she clearly saw that he held a significant advantage.
Just as she prepared to join the fight and help Yecheng finish off the monster, several figures appeared around her without warning.
These individuals were young and beautiful women, mostly elves and beastkin, wearing identical black leather jackets, indicating they belonged to the same organization.
Their origins were unclear, but more importantly, Alice sensed a substantial amount of mana emanating from them.
Especially the blonde elf who had spoken earlier and was now standing in the center, Alice felt an overwhelming oppressive aura and threat from her! In the capital city she guarded, the emergence of such a powerful group was a complete mystery to Alice.
The rampaging demon, the missing ALEXIA, and now the appearance of Alpha and her companions—Alice naturally connected these events, believing that Alpha and her group were responsible for the recent unrest in the capital city.
"Alpha, it seems we've been misunderstood as the culprits behind all these incidents?"
"With such intelligence, it's no wonder they're considered the strongest Mage Sword Academy in the kingdom. No wonder the Diabros Cult has been boldly operating within the capital city."
"Upon hearing the conversation between Alpha and Beta, Alice clutched her greatsword, her emotions flaring with anger. Yet, she refrained from attacking immediately, as she needed to understand the situation. She had to figure out what the Diabros Cult was, and most importantly, where Princess Alexia was at this very moment.
'Princess Alice, we are not your enemies, and neither Midgar Kingdom nor you are worthy opponents for us, the Shadow Courtyard,' Alpha continued. 'Our sole target has always been the Diabros Cult. If you understand this, it's best you remain still and don't move.'
Alice had intended to gather information through dialogue with these mysterious individuals, but their arrogant and condescending attitude infuriated her.
She was unaware of the Shadow Courtyard and Diabros Cult's true nature, but their underestimation of her was unacceptable. As the first princess of the kingdom and renowned as the strongest mage swordsman, she couldn't help but feel provoked by their dismissive attitude.
'If you refuse to speak, I'll have no choice but to capture and interrogate all of you!' Alice declared.
As the demonic monster raged on, Alice believed that Alpha and her group were the root cause of the current situation. To find the missing Princess Alexia, Alice knew she had to defeat them. With her greatsword in hand, she took a swift step forward and charged towards Alpha's position.
A resounding clash of swords filled the air with sparks. Alice, wielding her sword with both hands and unleashing her full strength, was met with a casual and effortless defense from Alpha, who held the sword with just one hand.
Not only did Alpha block Alice's powerful strike with a single hand, but she also didn't budge an inch, effortlessly deflecting Alice's heavy sword with a simple twist of her wrist and sending it flying.
Alice stared at her trembling hands in disbelief as her sword was knocked away and embedded itself into the ground.
Indeed, he had exhausted a considerable amount of energy in the previous battle, but not to the extent of being unable to hold his sword.
The trembling in her hands was a clear indication that Alpha surpassed her in both swordsmanship and physical prowess.
Unwilling to accept defeat, Alice clenched her fists, and a surge of red mana erupted from her body.
Alpha, seeing Alice's desperate state, decided not to waste any more time. She turned to Delta and said, 'Delta, calm her down, but be careful not to kill her. We might need her later.'
Despite being a princess, Alpha didn't hold back. She briefly explained their intentions, assuming Alice could understand. Even if Alice didn't comprehend, Alpha wouldn't bother explaining further. In her eyes, a mere princess couldn't compare to the stature of the Shadow Courtyard.
