Chapter 281: Everything Goes Smoothly
Chapter 281: Everything Goes Smoothly
With a muffled sound, a small, fingernail-sized hole suddenly appeared on the metal ventilation window of the Control Room. The Operator, who was gazing out at the harbor, fell to the ground without a sound.
"Beautiful!" Leon couldn't help but praise from the bottom of his heart as he looked through the specially reinforced glass.
The Bald Female Bandit, who shared the same name as William's Girlfriend, may have been terrible at close combat, but her long-range capabilities were truly remarkable. From a distance of almost two kilometers, she had managed to fire a lead bullet that had been slowed down to a non-lethal velocity, which had taken almost half a minute to reach its target. Within that time, anything could have happened.
However, she seemed to have predicted the Operator's movements, and as the bullet passed through the ventilation window, the Operator, who had been constantly changing positions, had coincidentally walked right into its path, almost as if he had deliberately put his head under the bullet. He fell unconscious without making a sound.
Leon wondered how long it would take for him to reach her level of marksmanship.
As he thought, Leon used his Soul Vision to observe the Operator's soul and confirmed that he had lost consciousness. He then knocked on the Toilet door.
"Luke, it's your turn."
"Got it!"
With a brief conversation, Luke, who was sitting in the toilet stall, pretended to fall unconscious, while the Operator in the Control Room stood up, rubbed his head, and walked to the window. He gave a thumbs-up to Leon and the others waiting below.
Everything was going smoothly.
As Leon watched the previously locked climbing ladder being lowered, he nodded in satisfaction. He picked up the water bottle containing Senior Piony and, along with the eager bandits, boarded the maintenance personnel's passageway, heading towards the steel frame of the Secret Harbor.
"Leader."
The Burned Man asked curiously, shaking the water bottle, "What's inside this thing? Why did we have to hand over our weapons, but we still have to bring these heavy bottles?"
Leon's mouth twitched slightly as he replied, "This bottle contains... our insurance."
He had almost decided not to bring the Little Silver Person, who had a severe fear of heights, as the boarding tower had many steel frames and good weather would allow them to see the ground, making it impossible for him to do anything. However, after discussing with the Red-Haired Commissioner, she had obtained several thermoses from the archive room, dismantled the inner bladder, and divided Senior Piony into several portions, which she then poured into the thermoses. She had asked Leon to bring these thermoses, explaining that although Senior Piony was afraid of heights, he could still perform normally in the closed environment of the airship.
As they walked down the climbing ladder, the Burned Man looked at the private ship in the Secret Harbor and exclaimed, "This thing is really huge!"
Leon nodded in agreement, looking at the airship.
Unlike the more familiar airplanes, for airships that rely on gas bags for buoyancy, the size of the gas bags directly determines their carrying capacity, hence their lengths are generally over a hundred meters.
The largest airships are even equipped with gigantic gas bags exceeding five hundred meters in length. If one were to describe the specific length, it would probably be more than ten times longer than a regular passenger plane. The private ship before them, though not the largest model, still had a total gas bag length exceeding three hundred meters.
When a colossal object of this scale, accompanied by the roaring sound of its rear cross-shaped propeller array, slowly squeezed into the city's smog-filled sky, the visual impact it created was beyond imagination for those who hadn't witnessed it firsthand.
"Let's wait until we're out to take a look. We need to make the most of our time now."
After patting the burned man's sturdy back and urging him on, Leon held onto the handrail in the strong wind and led the way along the steel frame bridge encircling the Secret Harbor, heading towards the airship emblazoned with the Corlock Kingdom emblem.
"Huh?"
As the group approached the climbing frame, the workers who were refueling the private ship's gas furnace were startled to see several people in police uniforms approaching. They stood up straight in surprise and asked, puzzled:
"Who are you? Why are you up here?"
"We're here for an inspection."
Without panicking at the sight of others, Leon sniffed the strong scent of engine oil and whale oil that hadn't dissipated even in the blowing wind. He looked up at the canvas gas bag and then pointed at the massive auxiliary frames, thicker than an adult's waist, and asked sternly:
"With such a big problem right above your heads, didn't any of you notice it?"
A problem with the gas bag? The workers were shocked by his words and quickly looked up, following Leon's gesture... and then nothing happened.
"Alter their memories and leave Tiger here to take them back."
Using the power of the Holy Spirit Pendant, Leon attacked the workers' nerve clusters, knocking them all unconscious. He then waved to Phoebe and Lucy, who were behind him.
"As for the details... a sudden gust of wind blew, and for safety, they had to retreat into the rest room and wait for the wind to stop before coming out."
"Alright."
Lucy, whose appearance had partially recovered and looked to be in her early sixties, nodded slightly. She then proceeded to modify the memories of the workers one by one, while the rest followed Leon up the climbing frame and onto the top of the private ship, reaching the entrance to the cabin.
The next step was the final one; as long as they successfully entered the private ship, everything else would fall into place.
Seeing that it was time to act, the young man with spatial abilities stepped forward, placed the water bottle by his feet, and took a deep breath, ready to use his power to move everyone inside.
But just then, a warning cry came from behind him.
"That's not right!"
What's not right?
Before the young man could react, Leon had already used the power of the Holy Spirit Pendant to grab him and pull him back from the cabin entrance.
In the instant he left the cabin entrance, the two-meter-wide entrance, under the pressure of the air differential, suddenly bulged and popped, sending the water bottle on top flying.
Immediately after, a sniffer with a scar on his face and a cigarette in his mouth, probably intending to take a smoke break, poked his head out of the ship's cabin. Unfortunately, instead of fresh air, he was greeted by the complex gazes of the "police" lying on top of the ship's cabin.

In this silent yet powerful moment, amidst the howling wind high above, the only sound was the frantic rattling of the water bottle in Leon's hand, transmitting a series of anxious thoughts.
'Leon! What's happening outside?'
'Talk to me!'
'Where's my butt? How did I lose my butt?'
