Chapter 281: Conflict and the Abnormal Snape
Chapter 281: Conflict and the Abnormal Snape
Anyone who comes to Honeydukes finds it hard to leave empty-handed.
Kyle and his friends purchased a large amount of candy, their pockets bulging as they left the shop.
They continued along the main road and stopped at The Three Broomsticks for a Butterbeer.
Fred and George kept their promise and paid for Kyle's drink...
Although Kyle was more concerned about another matter, Fred and George didn't engage and simply excused themselves, saying they weren't ready yet.
Professors McGonagall and Flitwick were also at The Three Broomsticks, happily chatting with Madam Rosmerta.
In front of Professor McGonagall was a small glass of violet water, while Professor Flitwick had a cherry syrup soda with ice and an umbrella.
Although they didn't notice Kyle and his group, it still felt a bit awkward to be in the presence of the professors.
Fred and George couldn't help but sneak glances at Professor McGonagall... or perhaps they were looking at Madam Rosmerta.
The bar owner, with her attractive figure and appearance, was well-known among the students of Hogwarts.
After quickly finishing their Butterbeers, they returned to the streets.
They also visited Elegante Wizard Robes and helped Qiu choose a thick cloak with white fur trim.
Most of the time, Qiu and Conna were the ones making the selections, while Kyle and the others just nodded when asked for their opinions.
Cedric wanted to help, but his suggestions were met with headshakes from Qiu, as well as Fred and George.
Although Qiu was a Seeker, you couldn't keep recommending golden cloaks to her...
Setting aside the issue of the color being too eye-catching, the cloak was an adult style, and Qiu looked like a golden flying thief when she put it on.
From then on, Cedric was deprived of his right to speak, and this decision was unanimously agreed upon by everyone.
As they passed by Padfoot's Tea Shop, they saw Harris through the window, laughing and chatting with a beautiful girl with chestnut-colored long hair.
"Oh... I finally understand why Harris came here so early in the morning," Cedric said softly.
"That's understandable," Kyle laughed. "This is indeed more important than the Triwizard Champion."
Padfoot's Tea Shop was a dating hotspot, and almost all the young couples from Hogwarts would come here.
The relationship between Harris and the girl didn't need further explanation.
"Oh, I remember now..."
At this moment, Qiu suddenly spoke up, "That's Livya Xenia, the Ravenclaw Prefect, and also a seventh-year student.
No wonder I felt so familiar; she changed her clothes and did her hair today."
They crowded around the window for a while, and Fred and George suggested going inside to take a look, pretending it was a chance encounter.
However, Conna and Qiu strongly opposed the idea.
"Believe me..." Qiu said seriously, "If you go in and cause trouble now, Harris will definitely use your heads as goalposts during the Quidditch match.
Do you think your heads are harder or the Bludger?"
"Don't worry, I'm here," Kyle said with a sense of justice, patting his chest. "I'll keep giving him passes..."
"And me..." Cedric muttered softly.
"Then the Bludger is harder..." Fred chuckled. "Hey, guys, I'm just kidding.
And Mr. Diggory, don't forget you can't talk now..."
George glanced at Cedric with a slanted gaze, "What's a Seeker doing here? You're acting like you can catch the Bludger."
Cedric pouted but remained silent.
At noon, the group returned to Hogwarts.
Although there were places to eat in the village, the food was not as good as what was served in the castle.
Most importantly, they had to pay...
After a morning of 'Visiting Day' excitement, the group decided to return to Hogwarts early.
The Great Hall was unusually quiet, with far fewer people than usual. This silence was unsettling, as if something was amiss.
As Kyle entered, he could sense the tension in the air, a palpable gunpowder smell permeating the room.
The Gryffindors and Slytherins, despite being separated by two tables, glared at each other with hostility.
"What happened this morning...?" Qiu whispered, "I feel like they're about to start a fight any moment."
"I don't know," Fred shook his head.
"Let's go find out."
The two rushed to the Gryffindor table and located their friend, Lee Jordan.
With most students gone to Hogsmeade, many seats at each long table were empty. Others, unconcerned about house affiliations, sat wherever they found an empty spot.
Soon, Fred and George returned.
"Oh, we really shouldn't have gone to Hogsmeade!" Fred exclaimed, "I can't believe we missed out on so much."
"Get to the point..." Qiu impatiently demanded, "What happened?"

"Our team got into a fight with the Slytherins on the Quidditch field," George explained, "because of that Malfoy."
"The second-year Slytherin student?"
"Yes," Fred nodded, "His father donated seven Firebolt 2001 brooms to the school, and they put him on the team."
"Solving problems with Galleons, that's so typical of them."
George glanced at the Slytherin table, and even now, they held those brand-new, sleek Firebolt 2001 brooms in their hands.
"I watched Malfoy's training..." he said in a low voice, "He's a mediocre flyer. Without those brooms, he wouldn't have made the team."
"And then?" Cedric asked.
"Malfoy said some... inappropriate things," Fred replied, "and then the fight broke out."
"You won't believe it..." George suddenly laughed, "Our little brother Ron really showed him up. He made Malfoy spew slugs for the entire morning!"
Qiu and Conna's faces turned pale at the news, clearly overwhelmed by the intensity of the information.
Cedric's eyes widened in surprise as well.
"When we first heard the news, we were just as shocked as you are..." Fred smiled, "We were stunned."
"I thought there was another Ron in school..."
"I never imagined it was our brother!"
"Even though he got hit by a similar spell and ended up in the hospital wing, his actions are commendable."
"We decided to share some of the candies we bought from Hogsmeade with him."
Kyle scanned the Great Hall.
Sure enough, Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Malfoy were all absent.
"What about the outcome? What did the professors say?"
"That's the strangest part."
George stroked his chin, deep in thought, "Lee Jordan told us that Professor Snape handled the matter. At first, we thought he'd punish Gryffindor severely... deducting a hundred points and sending Ron to detention."
"But he didn't," Fred said, "Instead, Malfoy was the one sent to detention."
"What?"
The news was so surprising that even Conna found it hard to believe.
"We asked three people, and they all confirmed it."
Fred whispered, "What do you think has gotten into Snape lately?"
"Maybe he's trying to make up for past mistakes," Kyle said casually.
"What?" The others were puzzled by his words.
"Nothing," Kyle waved his hand dismissively, "I was just joking. Don't mind me."
