"Begin the soul battle!" The referee’s announcement echoed through the arena. Without hesitation, both Bei Bei and Xu San Shi unleashed their martial souls.

The dueling area fell into an eerie silence as all eyes focused intently on the two combatants. Even the faintest sound seemed intrusive, as if any disturbance might sway the outcome of this intense clash.

As prominent figures in Shrek Academy’s outer court, Bei Bei and Xu San Shi had a long history of evenly matched battles. Their duels were always thrilling spectacles, beloved by the students for their unpredictability and excitement.

Blue lightning crackled as Bei Bei’s right arm swelled with energy, enveloped in shimmering azure light. Behind him loomed the spectral image of his Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul, its presence commanding and menacing.

On the opposite side, Xu San Shi was no less impressive. His body expanded slightly, straining against his uniform as he summoned forth a massive turtle-shell shield into his right hand. It radiated a dark, oppressive aura that contrasted sharply with Bei Bei’s electrifying display.

Both competitors moved cautiously, their sharp gazes locked onto each other. Thick waves of soul power surged around them—one side a brilliant blue, the other an ominous black—creating a stark division within the arena.

"The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon and the Xuan Ming Turtle are indeed among the most elite animal-type martial souls," Yu Wen Tuo observed quietly, his focus unwavering as he studied Bei Bei’s dragon claw. "However, at this moment, I only need to observe the movements of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon."

Though confident in his abilities, Yu Wen Tuo remained vigilant. He understood the importance of analyzing his opponent’s attack patterns whenever possible.

He knew that Bei Bei was guaranteed to win this match. After all, someone in the audience was helping him cheat.

Bei Bei’s strength had always been comparable to Xu San Shi’s, but with Huo Yuhao providing support from behind the scenes, victory seemed almost inevitable. With a god-like perspective overseeing the entire battlefield, losing would be nearly impossible.

True to form, aided by Huo Yuhao, Bei Bei deviated from his usual strategy. Instead of starting with his first soul skill for probing purposes, he immediately activated his second and third soul rings, unleashing high-level techniques to suppress Xu San Shi outright.

Caught off guard, Xu San Shi’s reaction time didn’t falter. His own second and third soul rings lit up in quick succession, countering Bei Bei’s assault.

As seasoned rivals, Xu San Shi was intimately familiar with Bei Bei’s capabilities. Confident in his defenses, he believed that even if victory eluded him, he could at least hold out indefinitely against Bei Bei’s onslaught.

But just as he prepared to release his second and third soul skills, a sudden wave of mental interference struck him. A sharp pain pierced his mind, causing his consciousness to blur momentarily. His soul power wavered, halting the activation of his techniques.

By the time he regained control, it was too late. Bei Bei, leveraging God’s-eye vision provided by Huo Yuhao, executed a series of swift maneuvers using the Tang Sect’s Ghost Shadow Confusion Steps. Crouching low, he slid across the ground, his dragon claw hooking under the edge of Xu San Shi’s shield. In one fluid motion, he swept past the shield and positioned himself directly behind it.

Xu San Shi attempted to retaliate, but the delay proved fatal. Before he could act, Bei Bei’s foot slammed into his shin, amplified by the overwhelming force of his Thunderous Fury enhanced with Lightning Wrath. The sheer intensity of the electric discharge paralyzed Xu San Shi, leaving him trembling uncontrollably.

In the next instant, Bei Bei’s razor-sharp dragon claw pressed firmly onto Xu San Shi’s shoulder. The match was over.

The result stunned everyone. Where was the evenly matched duel they had anticipated? Many hadn’t even managed to follow the sequence of events before Bei Bei bypassed Xu San Shi’s defenses and secured victory so effortlessly. Was the gap between their strengths truly this vast?

"Bei Bei wins," the referee declared.

"Impossible! You cheated, Bei Bei!" Xu San Shi protested, though deep down, he knew his earlier mistake wasn’t due to Bei Bei’s actions alone. What baffled him more was how Bei Bei had pinpointed a weakness in his otherwise impenetrable defense—a feat far beyond anything he’d seen from Bei Bei in the past.

"This isn’t some trick; it’s the result of my hard work. Pay up, the Xuan Water Pill," Bei Bei said with a smirk, injecting a small jolt of lightning-infused soul power into Xu San Shi’s body to rouse him.

Xu San Shi suspected foul play but lacked concrete evidence. Reluctantly, he handed over the second Xuan Water Pill. Refusing to honor the bet would tarnish his reputation further.

"Now it’s my turn!" Yu Wen Tuo leapt onto the stage, landing gracefully. "Congratulations on your victory, Senior Bei Bei. Would you like to rest? After all, using your second and third soul skills consecutively must have taken quite a toll."

"No need, Junior. Bring it on!" Bei Bei replied confidently.

Dealing with a mere one-ring soul master hardly required rest.

"This guy really dares to step up. Haha, we’re rich! Two Xuan Water Pills, two Soul Ascension Pills, and a pile of gold coins—all thanks to our Tang Sect’s rise!" Tang Ya exclaimed excitedly.

It seemed she had placed a bet as well, likely going all-in on Bei Bei’s victory. With Huo Yuhao aiding him, such confidence was justified.

However, this time, Huo Yuhao wouldn’t be able to assist. Having used both Spirit Detection Shared Vision and Mental Shock to help Bei Bei defeat Xu San Shi, his one-ring spiritual energy was already stretched thin. Targeting a soul master far stronger than himself had left him dangerously drained.

Still, Tang Ya felt certain that Bei Bei wouldn’t require Huo Yuhao’s assistance to handle Yu Wen Tuo.

"Hmph, Yu Wen Tuo might not lose so easily. Senior Sister, don’t get too cocky or you might end up bankrupt," Xiao Xiao muttered, pouting.

While she doubted Yu Wen Tuo could win, pride dictated that she couldn’t appear weak in front of outsiders.

"Soul battle… begin!" the referee announced once again.

Bei Bei’s martial soul remained active, requiring no reactivation. Meanwhile, Yu Wen Tuo was engulfed in flames, his entire body wreathed in searing fire.

As his martial soul awakened, his pupils shifted color, becoming a striking combination of brown and blue. Under the fiery glow, his hair took on a bronze hue.

"What is this… Is this a phenomenon unique to fire-element martial souls? Why does his eye color change like that?" Bei Bei wondered aloud.

Everyone assumed Yu Wen Tuo’s primary martial soul was a pure fire-element type, but in reality, it was something far purer—the essence of fire itself. This explained why, despite being corrupted by demonic flames for six years, his martial soul retained its purity. It was far superior to ordinary fire-element martial souls.

The reason it lacked the overwhelming might of ultimate fire stemmed from its connection to Yu Wen Tuo’s current spiritual strength. With his cultivation level still low, he couldn’t fully unleash the true potential of this fire essence. But as his soul grew stronger, this power would surpass even the most potent forms of ultimate fire.

As for the brown-blue pupils, they were a gift from his master. Known as the Yin-Yang Demon Eyes in the world of Xuan Yuan Sword, these eyes could pierce through illusions and render their wielder immune to all forms of deception. While Yu Wen Tuo’s version was cultivated rather than innate, it was modeled after his master’s legendary ability—a testament to his teacher’s ingenuity.
