Chapter 277: Traveling Bear Returns with Gifts for You
Chapter 277: Traveling Bear Returns with Gifts for You
"Mr. Naoki..."
Paipa fiddled with the straps of his backpack, looking somewhat awkwardly at Naoki from a distance.
Naoki offered him a gentle smile. "Welcome, Paipa. Don't worry; Professor Oren has already spoken to me. Make yourself at home for the next few days."
Hearing this, Paipa breathed a sigh of relief.
Having lived alone since he was young, he had learned to be mindful of others at an early age.
Visiting someone else's ranch made Paipa worry that he might be a burden to Mr. Naoki.
Paipa walked up to Naoki with his backpack.
The elderly butler and Nimo, standing nearby, also noticed the quiet and reticent young man.
"Professor Oren..." Nimo, sharp as a tack, picked up on the crucial information from their conversation.
There wasn't a person in the entire Patia region who didn't know the name of Professor Oren, a leading Pokemon researcher who had pioneered the technology of crystallization, allowing Pokemon to crystallize in battle.
"Are you Professor Oren's son?" Nimo asked, surprised.
Hearing this, Paipa turned to the girl, who was younger than him, and nodded silently.
"Wow!" Nimo exclaimed excitedly. "Professor Oren and Professor Fort are the most renowned professors in the Patia region! By the way, as their son, do you know how to battle Pokemon? Want to have a Pokemon battle with me?"
Paipa: "...”
As expected of the enthusiastic Nimo, always eager for a Pokemon battle! Sensing Paipa's hesitation, Naoki spoke up:
"Now, now, Nimo. Paipa has just arrived at the ranch, and he must be tired from his journey. He needs some rest."
As Naoki spoke, a peculiar thought crossed his mind.
How should he put it? It felt a bit like babysitting for relatives or friends...
"Alright then." Nimo looked a bit disappointed.
The elderly butler standing next to her sighed. "Miss Nimo, you should take a rest as well."
Nimo shook her head vigorously. "I'm not tired at all! Mr. Ranch Owner, where are the Flygons? Can I take a look at them?"
"Of course," Naoki nodded. "The Flygons are sunbathing over there under the trees."
With that, he led the way.
The group walked through the fields and soon arrived at a spacious grass field.
Several Pokemon had already gathered there.
In addition to the four Flygons and five Noiverns, there was also a Glaceon and a Motostoke Pokemon running around on the grass.
Not far away, a Gulardon lay lazily on a patch of grass, basking in the pleasant afternoon sun.
Further away, enclosed by a wooden fence, three Riding Tauruses could be seen grazing in a meadow.
And on the other side of the fence, a black and white stallion with a majestic and graceful build galloped around the field, with a mysterious Pokemon riding on its back, its head peculiarly large.
The moment Nimo arrived, her attention was immediately captured by the diverse array of Pokemon.
"Noivern, Flygon, Motostoke Pokemon, Glaceon, Oranguru, Riding Taurus... and so many Pokemon I've never seen before!"
Wow!
Was this... paradise?
Nimo eagerly ran towards the group of Pokemon.
The butler tried to stop her. "Miss Nimo!"
But it was too late.
The elderly man with white hair sighed helplessly. "Miss Nimo is always so full of energy."
Naoki smiled at the scene before him. "I see that."
Then, he turned to Paipa and said, "The ranch has undergone quite a few changes lately, and we've welcomed many new Pokemon. Would you like to take a look?"
Paipa's eyes lit up, but unlike Nimo, he didn't rush ahead. Instead, he politely bowed and thanked Naoki. "Then I'll have to trouble you, Mr. Naoki."
"Let's go!"
Naoki and Paipa hurried to catch up with Nimo.
Nimo stood excitedly in front of the Gulardon, studying the massive Pokemon with its muscular build and wild aura.
Gulardon, who had been dozing with its eyes closed, sensed the movement nearby. It opened its eyes slightly, and upon recognizing the humans in front of it, closed them again.
It thought it was someone else! So, it was this human.
Gulardon remembered the human's name—Nimo, perhaps?
The reason it remembered was that, in the years to come, this human who loved Pokemon battles would frequently visit the ranch.
Sometimes she would take on the Grassland Trial with the Riding Tauruses, other times she would challenge Babo's Electric Trial, and she had even challenged "it" before.
"Mr. Ranch Owner, what kind of Pokemon is this?" Nimo asked curiously.
"This one?" Naoki smiled. "It's a Gulardon."
Nimo: "Gulardon?"
"Indeed," Naoki affirmed. "Gulardon is an incredibly powerful Pokemon. It has been protecting this ranch, and it's thanks to its efforts that the ranch has been able to develop and thrive as it has today!"
"Such a formidable Pokemon... I really want to battle it!" Nimo said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. But she also knew that she wasn't a trainer yet.
So, Nimo made a decision in her heart—once she became a trainer, she would definitely return to challenge this Pokemon, as well as Babo the Drilbur!
After admiring Gulardon, Nimo ran over to the Flygons.
Naoki, with Paipa in tow, followed behind and said to Paipa and Nimo as he looked at the Flygons, "These Flygons currently work as couriers on the ranch. They come to the ranch every morning to help me deliver goods to customers who have placed orders."
"Roar!" The Flygons happily greeted Naoki.
"So cute!" Nimo's attention was instantly captured by the Flygons' adorable appearances.
The elderly butler standing nearby looked at the young man in shock.
Flygons were such rare Pokemon, and yet this young man not only had so many of them but also used them for deliveries!
This was truly extravagant!
The man who could do such a thing was definitely no ordinary person!
Just then, a Necrozma riding a Spectrier passed by not far away.
As it drew closer, it deliberately slowed down and nodded at Naoki from a distance, offering a greeting.
Yet another Pokemon Nimo had never seen before!
"Mr. Ranch Owner, what Pokemon is that?" Nimo asked, her curiosity piqued.
It could even ride a horse!
"That's Necrozma," Naoki introduced. "The Pokemon it's riding is called Spectrier, its dedicated mount."
Dedicated mount? Nimo didn't quite understand, but the elderly butler next to her did.
Dedicated mount... That was a term only a king would use!
He paused for a moment, then looked at the Pokemon with its extraordinary bearing and majestic demeanor, repeating uncertainly, "Dedicated mount?"
Naoki nodded. "Yes, that's right. Its name is Necrozma, and it's known as the King of Legendary Pokemon."
"King of Legendary Pokemon?" Nimo and Paipa were also intrigued by this term.
Naoki nodded slightly and then slowly began to tell them about the legend of Necrozma.
"A long, long time ago, Necrozma used to ride its beloved horse across the land. Its power was immense, and legend has it that with a wave of its left hand, crops would instantly mature, and with a wave of its right hand, flowers would bloom."
"In ancient times, it used this ability to bring abundance to people, making the entire region prosperous."
"Wow!" Nimo exclaimed in awe.
Paipa, on the other hand, seemed to realize something, and asked hesitantly, "A... legendary Pokemon from legend?"
Legendary Pokemon were incredibly powerful and rarely appeared in the mortal realm, existing only in the legends passed down among humans.
The Patia region also had its fair share of legendary Pokemon, such as the four calamity Pokemon that were sealed away during the era of the kingdom.
However, that time was so distant that it was unknown whether the four calamity Pokemon of legend truly existed.
But now... Mr. Naoki had actually captured a legendary Pokemon?!
Naoki understood Paipa's implication and nodded. "That's right."
Paipa was bewildered. "But... I don't think I've heard of this legend in the Patia region before?"
Naoki smiled slightly. "That's because what I just told you is an ancient tale from the Galar region, and Necrozma is also a Pokemon I encountered in Galar."
Galar region? No wonder! Paipa finally understood.
This is incredible! He knew it!
The elderly butler who had accompanied Nimo to the ranch was equally stunned.
His guess was right! This man was no ordinary trainer!
He never expected to find such a powerful trainer in this place.
The butler had a vague premonition that this man and the ranch he ran would soon become famous throughout the entire Patia region!
At 5 p.m. in the evening, the butler and Nimo, her heart still filled with excitement, began their journey back, their minds still reeling from the day's events.
Nimo sat happily by the window, looking out. Although she hadn't been able to battle the Flygons this time, she had seen so many powerful Pokemon.
However, she wasn't ready to give up.
Staring at the ranch disappearing into the distance in the rearview mirror, Nimo made a firm decision—someday soon, she would return to this place and challenge the Flygons, Drilbur, and the Pokemon named Gulardon!
The elderly butler looked at the determined young miss and encouraged her. "Miss Nimo, one day, you will also become a powerful trainer."
"I never expected Nimo to suddenly come to the ranch."
"This trip allowed Nimo to meet Gouredon and Paipa. I wonder what will happen when the plot with Zhuzi unfolds."
Naoki's imagination ran wild as he pictured the potential interactions, finding the prospect rather intriguing.
"Alright, let's head back to bed too!" Naoki retracted his gaze and, along with Paipa, returned to the house.
As night fell, the Pokemon made their way back inside.
Paipa stood in the living room, feeling even more awkward as he took in the house full of Pokemon.
Seeing this, Naoki smiled helplessly. "Don't be so nervous. Professor Oren is a friend, so just make yourself at home."
"Thank you," Paipa murmured softly.
Naoki smiled back and continued, "Ai Guanshi has prepared a room for you upstairs. I hope it's to your liking."
He called out to his brother, Ai Guanshi, and asked him to take Paipa upstairs to show him the room.
Ai Guanshi nodded calmly and agreed, "Ai Yi."
"Off you go, then. I'll start preparing dinner!" Naoki said.
The fireplace in the room warmed the space, creating a cozy atmosphere. Feeling the warmth and Naoki's care, Paipa's eyes stung with unshed tears, and he suddenly felt an urge to cry.
He quickly lowered his head, holding back his tears, and bid Naoki goodbye before following Ai Guanshi upstairs.
Seeing this, Naoki chuckled softly and shook his head. He turned on the television to catch the news broadcast while he prepared dinner for the Pokemon.
Outside, the cold wind howled, but inside, the Pokemon gathered on the soft carpet and sofa, basking in the warmth of the fire and comfortably exposing their soft bellies.
The voice of the weather news anchor came on.
"The Patia region is expected to welcome snowfall in the early hours of the morning. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions and prepare for the cold front."
Huh? Snow?
Naoki was a little surprised but then realized it was about time.
He welcomed the idea of snow. Once the snow covered the ground, he could take the Pokemon out to build snowmen and have snowball fights!
Naoki hummed a cheerful tune, looking forward to the snowfall.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, on an island nestled in the azure ocean...
Mew and Teddiursa stood with a bunch of leeks, waving goodbye to a Leek Duck.
Not long ago, they had arrived on this island and, in the forest, encountered this Leek Duck in need of help.
After hearing about the exploits of the Adventuring Squad, the Leek Duck immediately sought their assistance.
According to the Leek Duck, a Pokemon that liked to eat plants had recently arrived in the forest, devouring all the roots and leeks growing in the soil.
The Leek Duck felt insecure without its leek weapons, so it requested the Adventuring Squad to drive away the Pokemon that liked to eat leeks.
Mew and Teddiursa accepted the request and, upon reaching their destination, discovered that the culprit was a hungry Stantler.
It had migrated from another forest, where human activities like tree-cutting had led to a scarcity of food. Unable to find enough to eat, it had resorted to consuming the leeks in this forest.
To help the Leek Duck, Mew and Teddiursa shared their treasured Berries to fill the Stantler's hungry belly.
With a full stomach, the Stantler promised not to eat the Leek Duck's weapons again.
The issue was resolved amicably, and the Leek Duck gifted Mew and Teddiursa a bundle of leeks as a token of gratitude.
After the Leek Duck left, Teddiursa looked down at the leeks in his hand. "Yi me..." (Strange taste...)
Mew tilted her head, curious. "Miu?" (What's wrong?)
Teddiursa sighed. "Yi me..." (Don't like it...)
He thought about how the Leek Duck used these leeks as weapons and figured that while they might not be tasty to some Pokemon, they could still be useful items.
An idea sparked in Teddiursa's mind, and he decided to send these plant stems back to the ranch and give them to Naoki, hoping they might be of use to some Pokemon there!
Speaking of Naoki...
Teddiursa's mind conjured up the tall figure, and his expression turned glum.
Unknowingly, he had been away from the ranch for quite some time.
Teddiursa missed Naoki, the ranch, and the delicious treats he used to make.
Mew, noticing Teddiursa's low spirits, tilted her head in curiosity. "Miu?" (What's wrong?)
Teddiursa honestly replied, "Yi me..." (I miss Naoki...)
Mew didn't understand the concept of missing someone, as she had never felt that way herself.
Seeing Teddiursa's dejected expression, she thought for a moment and then suggested in a cheerful tone, "Miu!" (Then let's go back to the ranch!)
