Chapter 277: The Trio
Chapter 277: The Trio
On the azure sea, several sharks fought over food, churning the water and creating a frothy wake.
The fishermen leaned against the ship's side, watching with amused curiosity, guessing which unfortunate fish had become the sharks' meal.
They didn't notice the pair of terrified eyes in the cabin behind them.
Vold had transformed back into a peregrine falcon and circled in the sky for a while, watching as Peter Pettigrew's body was torn apart and devoured by sharks. Only then did he relax and turn towards the direction of the Hogwarts Express to fly back.
Vold held Peter Pettigrew in contempt, but he also feared him.
During the Wizarding War, both sides had an undercover agent.
On Voldemort's side, there was Professor Snape, and on the Order of the Phoenix's side, it was the little dwarf star, Peter.
Before Voldemort's incident, Peter had secretly passed on intelligence for over a year without ever exposing himself.
Even his closest friends considered him a trustworthy ally, and even someone as powerful as Dumbledore never suspected that he was the betrayer.
It was as if Voldemort had never considered that Snape had already betrayed him.
But Peter never imagined that the master he chose would be killed by an infant, causing him to be exposed and forced to fake his death, hiding in the form of a rat for over a decade.
After Peter was exposed, he single-handedly found the hidden Voldemort, helped him resurrect, and subsequently triggered the Second Wizarding War.
Therefore, Vold could not allow Peter to escape and give him a second chance.
Before coming, he had prepared to kill.
But fortunately, the sea was a natural graveyard. After Vold inflicted severe injuries on Peter Pettigrew, he was naturally swallowed up by the creatures of the ocean.
The peregrine falcon once again swiftly flew through the clouds and mist, finally making it back to the carriage through the window just before the train arrived at the station.
"Whoosh!" A gust of wind seemed to blow through the compartment, and Michael squinted, holding down his hair. He then saw an additional person in front of him.
Vold's clothes were slightly disheveled, his body was soaked, and his eyebrows and hair were covered in steam.
"Did you fall into the sea?" Michael asked in surprise.
Vold smiled and said, "Something like that."
He whispered a few spells, and his clothes and hair dried, although they were still a bit wrinkled, which Vold didn't mind.
"What happened?" Theo asked, then added, "If it's not convenient to say, then forget it."
"It's nothing."
Vold sat down, gulped down a bottle of water, thought for a moment, and said, "You'll probably see it in the newspaper soon—Peter Pettigrew has escaped from prison."
"What?"
Several people were shocked, thinking of the man who had turned into a classmate's pet.
"Did this happen this morning?" Ryan asked.
"Yes," Vold replied. "I left a tracking signal on that guy, and I found out as soon as he ran out."
"So..." Theo swallowed, "You just..."
"Don't worry... I didn't kill anyone..."
—Not personally.
"But that guy won't be showing up again."
Vold said calmly.
The other three looked at him with blank expressions, as if they had suddenly stopped understanding English.
"The train is approaching Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, London. Please take your luggage with you..."
The train's broadcast sounded.
The group looked out the window, and the train gradually slowed down. On the platform, parents were waiting to pick up their children, and some anxious students had already poked their heads out of the windows, waving their arms vigorously.
Voldemort also spotted the Gray couple, and beside them stood a man with a terrifying appearance, leaning on a cane with a peculiar, spinning eye.
He couldn't help but smile.
Peace is the most precious thing ordinary people possess.
Without peace, everything else would be blown away like smoke by the raging winds of war, leaving nothing recognizable.
...
On the dirty fishing boat, the fishermen lay sprawled out, sound asleep.
Two figures emerged from the cabin and crawled to the ship's side, peering down.
Naturally, they couldn't see anything.
Not to mention that Peter Pettigrew was already in the belly of a fish... Even if he was still alive, the fishing boat had already sailed several miles out to sea.
"Did... did you see what just happened?"
One of them asked, stammering.
"Nonsense!"
The other person replied irritably. He took out a low-quality cigarette he had found in the cabin and tried to take a puff, only to realize that his hand had been trembling all along.
He held his right hand with his other hand and then turned to look beside him.
The evening sunlight illuminated their faces, making them appear flushed.
If not for this, they would have noticed that their complexions were equally pale and terrified.
One of them had golden hair and a handsome appearance. Even now, despite his haggard and disheveled state, he exuded the air of a fallen prince.
It was Gilderoy Lockhart, who had recently been sent to Azkaban.
The man beside him had deep-set eyes, a thin build, long tangled hair, and blackened fingernails on all ten fingers. His body was covered in dirt accumulated over who knows how many years.
He looked very similar to Sirius Black when he was brought out of Azkaban.
They were accomplices who had escaped from Azkaban together.
It was a natural prison, and no escape had ever occurred there before.
Recently, Lockhart had been sentenced, and Ministry officials were responsible for escorting him to Azkaban.
However, they had underestimated Lockhart's spellcasting abilities—after all, he appeared to be a buffoon in every way, and indeed, he was.
Yet, even as useless as Lockhart was, there was one spell he excelled at—the Memory Charm.
Previously, he had required a wand to cast the Memory Charm, but after his wand was broken and he was tormented by Dementors in Azkaban, an unprecedented determination and strength emerged within him.
he managed to master the art of wandless spellcasting for the Memory Charm on his own.
Not all the guards in Azkaban were Dementors, as the prison also held less serious offenders and, at times, prisoners undergoing interrogation.
Therefore, in addition to Dementors, Ministry officials often patrolled the premises. Lockhart seized the opportunity to cast the Memory Charm, taking their wands and the keys they held.
After that, he encountered the person beside him and helped Peter escape from Azkaban as well.
They had a grand plan after their escape... but before they could accomplish anything, one of the three was already gone.
"Gal, did you see who killed Peter?" Lockhart asked.
