Chapter 276: Turning Grief into Gluttony
Chapter 276: Turning Grief into Gluttony
"Sure, I'm free whenever you guys are." In the afternoon, An Fatso called, suggesting they go out for a meal, and Li Qian readily agreed.
Coincidentally, they chose the First Dining Hall as the venue, as it was the closest to the dorm and the most convenient location for a gathering.
"Aren't you taking me with you?" Lu Tianjiao saw Li Qian had dinner plans and sidled up to him with a fawning expression.
"Is that appropriate in your current state?" Li Qian retorted, leaving Lu Tianjiao speechless.
Despite his remarkable recovery, his more severe injuries hadn't healed entirely yet, and he still had quite a bit of gauze wrapped around his body.
Going out like this would undoubtedly make him the most eye-catching guy in the entire school, attracting the attention of many students.
On the other hand, Li Qian, with only minor injuries, looked almost unaffected after putting on his clothes.
"Then remember to bring me some food," Lu Tianjiao said enviously as he watched Li Qian get up from the sofa and prepare to leave.
Li Qian joked, "Don't worry, we'll order extra, and there will be leftovers for you later."
Upon hearing this, Lu Tianjiao immediately raised his middle finger, "We're done!"
After a bit of banter, Li Qian headed out.
"How's the new environment treating you?" As soon as Li Qian arrived at the First Dining Hall, he spotted An Fatso, who was hard to miss due to his size.
"It's okay. My roommate and I get along well," An Fatso said with a chuckle.
"He's probably a joker... with an outgoing personality... hahaha..." Li Qian almost slipped up and awkwardly laughed it off.
An Fatso shot Li Qian a slightly resentful glance, making Li Qian want to retreat.
"Here come the two beauties." Just then, two stunning figures approached from a distance, prompting Li Qian to change the topic.
"Look at them walking side by side like sisters..." An Fatso expressed his confusion.
"They're classmates and best friends," Li Qian said subconsciously.
"That was before," An Fatso muttered.
Li Qian suddenly realized something upon hearing this and was at a loss for words.
In any case, it was good that they were getting along, whether it was genuine or just a superficial sisterly act.
"What would you like to eat?" As the two ladies approached, Li Qian took a few steps forward and asked.
"Let's go to the main dining hall," Li Lanying suggested after glancing at the First Dining Hall.
An Fatso sounded a bit disappointed, "Shouldn't we go somewhere nicer for a gathering?"
"I heard that the First Dining Hall has a main dining area on the first, second, and third floors, and there's also an underground food court."
"Then you should also know that the main dining hall at the First Dining Hall is pretty good. Since the three of us are from the same place, it's more meaningful to have our first gathering in the main dining hall." Tu Jiaojiao added.
With both ladies agreeing, Li Qian and An Fatso realized their opinions didn't matter, so they went with the flow.
Due to the staggered arrival of new students and some senior students staying on campus during the summer vacation, the dining hall remained open throughout the break.
Just like when they first arrived in Shazhou City, the dining hall had a diverse student population, including many non-human students.
The most numerous were the students from the Kucha Clan, almost on par with the Xia Clan. Additionally, there were a few students from the Wuxi and Snow Clans, though they were rarely seen.
"You guys wait here, I'll go to the third floor to top up some money." Li Qian took out the student card he had just received during enrollment and waved it.
The newly issued student card was definitely empty, but just now, Li Qian had seen a service window on the third floor where he could top up.
"I'll come with you, my card needs topping up too." Upon hearing this, Li Lanying also took out her student card.
"Then I'll go too." Tu Jiaojiao followed suit and took out her student card as well.
An Fat's mouth twitched, just as he was about to follow their example, Li Lanying's gaze swept over, "In that case, I'll trouble classmate An Junjie to help watch over the table."
In fact, this evening, there weren't many people eating in the cafeteria, so there was no need to worry about someone taking their table. Even if it was taken, it didn't matter; there were plenty of tables available.
However, since Li Lanying had said so, An Fat couldn't argue and could only sigh in resignation.
Then he watched helplessly as Li Qian left the cafeteria hall surrounded by the two beauties, a twinge of jealousy rising in his heart.
Soon, the three returned, and they went to get their food together, leaving An Fat alone at the original spot, looking out of place in this environment.
He couldn't help but pick up his chopsticks and start playing with them on the table.
After a while, the three of them finally arrived with three plates, two of which were filled with dishes, mostly unfamiliar to An Fat, likely local specialties. The third plate held four bowls of rice.
An Fat was genuinely hungry, so he picked up a bowl of rice and started eating without any courtesy, mainly because he was feeling glum and wanted to channel his frustration into eating.
"Hmm, why does this taste a bit different..." Just then, Li Lanying noticed something unusual and voiced her confusion.
"What's wrong?" Li Qian asked.
"This food seems a bit extraordinary..." Li Lanying continued, still chewing.
Li Qian smiled faintly, knowing what she was wondering about, and casually explained, "All three cafeterias in the school add a small amount of extraordinary ingredients to the food in the main cafeteria. Eating it regularly is beneficial for improving one's physical qualities."
"I see." Upon hearing this, An Fat and the other two nodded in understanding.
In fact, Li Qian himself didn't know this information; it was Lu Tianjiao who had told him.
However, since the amount of extraordinary ingredients added was minimal, most people couldn't taste the difference. Only a small number of people with heightened energy sensitivity might notice something amiss.
Li Qian was surprised by Li Lanying's incredibly keen perception.
Knowing that eating more could improve physical qualities, An Fat became even more unrestrained, eating to his heart's content. He finished one bowl of rice and went for more, taking advantage of the free rice.
In the end, An Fat alone ate an estimated amount of rice equal to that of Li Qian and his two companions combined. He also consumed at least half of the dishes.
After the meal, Li Qian got another portion to pack for Lu Tianjiao to take back.
An Fat looked on curiously, and Li Qian immediately explained the situation, briefly mentioning that his neighbor had some issues and couldn't come out, so he was bringing food for him.
