Chapter 276: Changing the Method of Death
Chapter 276: Changing the Method of Death
There were also Werewolf Wizards!
Ivan had not forgotten that Tom mentioned a number of Werewolf Wizards participated in the battle, and several of their bodies were left behind.
Could it be Walker, Fren, and the others?
Ivan frowned deeply and continued to interrogate Joseph, trying to extract more information.
However, Ivan was disappointed to find that Joseph knew very little.
During the attack on Borgin and Burkes, Joseph had been outside gathering intelligence. By the time he returned, the battle was already over.
For the past month, Joseph had been out of contact, Wandering around Knockturn Alley, trying to find out what had happened that day and gather other missing individuals.
Ivan, not giving up, administered Veritaserum to the remaining Black-robed Wizards, questioning them one by one. The information he received was largely the same.
No one knew whether Caractacus Burke was dead or alive; they only knew that the Ministry of Magic had not found his body.
It seems I need to visit Borgin and Burkes.
Ivan's mind raced, preparing to go to the scene himself to see if he could find any useful clues.
Taking advantage of the Veritaserum's continued effect, Ivan asked one last question. "How did you confirm my disguise before?"
"We sent ten people to attack that Dark Magic shop, and your answer was incorrect", Joseph said in a dull tone.
"There were ten people in total? But I only found nine bodies of the attackers there", Ivan muttered to himself.
As the questions and answers continued, Sirius gradually pieced together the sequence of events. His gaze toward Ivan became tinged with a hint of pity.
"Don't be too upset, Hals. We will find the murderers and kill them all to avenge your mother", Sirius consoled.
"No, there's another possibility!" Ivan interrupted Sirius's words. There were indeed ten bodies at the time, but...
Thinking this, Ivan decided to verify it. He took a long strand of hair and placed it in the bottle containing the Polyjuice Potion.
He remembered from the original timeline that someone had once managed to deceive everyone by having one person's body buried as another, creating the illusion that the person was dead and successfully fooling everyone.
After adjusting the potion, Ivan approached the attractive witch named Kylie and forced the potion down her throat.
As he administered the potion, Ivan's wrist trembled, and he watched intently as the attractive witch began to transform in front of him.
A moment later, her appearance changed into that of another, unfamiliar witch, with hair color matching Aisha's.
Ivan trembled with excitement, his eyes gleaming as he carefully examined Kylie's face multiple times.
"What are you planning to do?" Sirius, watching Ivan's expression, was bewildered and worried that Ivan had been driven mad by the trauma.
Ivan ignored Sirius's words, muttering to himself.
Before placing Aisha's body in the Basement, he had taken a strand of her hair as a backup, intending to use this method to confirm certain things.
However, Ivan had never had the courage to do so because the Time Turner could not change established reality. Once the result was confirmed, it would complete the loop, and even going back in time would not alter it.
Ivan understood this very well, so he had even considered giving up on the verification. This way, the result would always remain unknown.
And the unknown meant it could be changed. When he used the Time Turner to go back in time in the future, he could make things unfold according to his plan.
It was only after Ivan learned from Joseph that the number of attackers was one more than he had imagined that he remembered this and decided to proceed with the verification.
If Aisha's body was included in the count at the scene, there would have been exactly ten bodies, matching the number of attackers.
"No, this isn't enough!" Ivan quickly suppressed his excitement because he still had many questions to confirm.
Next was the crucial part.
"Cruciatus Curse!" Ivan silently approached Kylie from behind, suddenly drawing his Wand and casting the curse at her back.
A white light struck Kylie's back, and a shrill scream echoed as the intense pain snapped her out of her dazed state.
Before Kylie could react, Sirius waved his Wand, and a green spell hit her head, stopping her scream and causing her body to fall to the ground.
"Enough, Hals! I know you're angry, but I hope you can calm down", Sirius said sternly.
Sirius understood Ivan's pain but did not want to see him lose himself in hatred.
Whether killing or torturing, Sirius believed these were not things a child of Ivan's age should do. If it was truly necessary, Sirius preferred to handle it himself.
"No, I have no interest in torturing her. I was just confirming something", Ivan shook his head and then turned to Dobby.
"Dobby, watch him and don't let him interfere."
"Yes, sir!" Dobby nodded, his large eyes fixed on Sirius's every move, his fingers glowing with magical energy, ready to stun him at any moment.
"I'm not that easy to deal with", Sirius smirked, not fearing a House-Elf now that he had his Wand.
However, Sirius hesitated for a moment and decided not to interfere with Ivan's subsequent actions. He wanted to see what Ivan intended to do.
Ivan did not continue to torture or kill the next person as Sirius imagined. Instead, he stared intently at the dead Kylie.
Kylie's body lay motionless on the ground, lifeless, but the effect of the Polyjuice Potion continued to work on her.
Ivan was not surprised, as he had known this from the start.
In the original timeline, Barty Crouch Jr. had mentioned that his mother, while serving his sentence in Azkaban, had continuously taken the Polyjuice Potion, so even after her death, she did not immediately return to her original form and was buried as him.
This meant that taking a sufficient amount of the Polyjuice Potion could allow a person to maintain another person's appearance for a short time after death.
If he could go back in time and directly intervene in that battle, save Aisha, and find someone to take her place using the Polyjuice Potion, he could recreate the scene he had witnessed when he returned to the Dark Magic shop!
