Chapter 275: The Crimson Cloak and the Meowth Hammer, Superheroes and a Barboach!
Chapter 275: The Crimson Cloak and the Meowth Hammer, Superheroes and a Barboach!
After nightfall, Naoki, having inspected the facilities in the ranch, stayed at home with his Pokemon, turning on the television to the Paldea News Channel.
As expected, they were broadcasting the show 'Man and Dragon', filmed by Alice.
Naoki watched with great interest; this was the first time in his life he had experienced something like this, and it felt novel to him.
Seeing himself on the screen, Naoki thought to himself: Could this be his television debut?
"I hope this documentary will spread the name of the ranch." Naoki muttered to himself.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Although the ranch had no reputation yet, Naoki believed that one day, the name of the Dragon Delivery Service would be known throughout the Paldea region!
The next morning, life returned to its usual routine.
After his trip to the Galar region, there were no other matters that required Naoki's attention outside the ranch.
He stayed at home, working and playing with his Pokemon.
Every morning, Naoki would go and milk his riding goat first thing, then pour the freshest milk into bottles and give them to the delivery Dragonite to take into town for the customers.
After milking, the Caretaker Jinni would have breakfast ready, and Naoki would eat with everyone at the ranch.
After breakfast, the Caretaker siblings would start tidying up the rooms that had been messed up by Barboach and Motostoke, while Naoki would go out to work in the ranch.
He filled the drinking trough for the riding goat with water and grass dumplings, filled the horse stable with tree fruit and carrots, and collected the MooMoo Milk from the large milk cans.
He collected honey from the Combee's hive, gathered rock salt from the salt rocks in the underground cave, and went to the chicken coop to collect the eggs the hens had laid the night before.
After taking care of the Pokemon in the ranch, Naoki returned to the kitchen to make grass dumplings for the riding goat and check on the fruit wine and rose jam brewing in the wine cellar.
When all the work was done, it was time for lunch.
Naoki would eat with the Pokemon, then go to the glass greenhouse for a short break and have tea with the Lei Queen.
Around three or four in the afternoon, he would go to the Inverse World to continue developing Sky Island, transforming it into a backyard garden for the ranch.
The Pokemon in the ranch also had their own tasks to attend to.
Playing, frolicking, running...
The weather today was pleasant, and Naoki sat in the sun, listening to the sounds of the Pokemon playing outside, feeling content with his life.
"Meowth?"
Suddenly, the voice of the Little Smithy rang out from outside.
Naoki opened his eyes and went to the door. He saw the small, petite Little Smithy holding a hammer and looking around as if searching for something.
Spotting Naoki, Little Smithy's eyes lit up, and it scurried over energetically, raising the hammer in its hand.
"Meowth!"
Naoki's eyes widened, and he quickly reached out to take the hammer from Little Smithy.
"Is it done?"
Little Smithy nodded vigorously. "Meowth!" Yes! This hammer was the ultimate creation, forged with all its heart and soul!
Naoki looked down at the heavy hammer in his hand, examining it closely.
The hammer gleamed with a silvery metallic luster, noticeably different from the one Little Smithy usually carried.
The hammer Little Smithy held was small and exquisite, reflecting its own personality.
The hammer it had made for Naoki was larger, with a square head and a captivating silvery shine.
It was clear that this hammer had been specially crafted for Barboach.
"Amazing!" Naoki exclaimed in admiration.
Even though he had heard of the abilities of Little Smithy Pokemon, seeing their hammer-forging skills firsthand still filled him with wonder.
Naoki noticed its eager gaze and smiled as he praised, "I really like this hammer. Thank you for making it for me, Little Smithy!"
"Meowth~"
Hearing these words, Little Smithy's eyes lit up, and it looked extremely pleased.
The Little Smithy of today was no longer the weak and frail Pokemon it had been during the forest fire incident.
After reforging its own hammer, its entire being seemed to have recovered its vigor.
Perhaps this was the true nature of Little Smithy.
Naoki was sincerely happy to see Little Smithy emerge from its shadowed past.
He reached out and patted Little Smithy's head affectionately before turning his gaze toward the roof of the chicken coop. "Let's go give it to Barboach together," he said to Little Smithy.
"Meowth!"
Little Smithy nodded excitedly, holding the hammer as it followed behind Naoki.
They arrived below the chicken coop, and Naoki called out. Immediately, Barboach, who had been sunbathing on the roof, flew down.
"Barbo?"
Naoki handed the hammer to Barboach, saying, "Try it out."
Barboach took the hammer and grasped the handle. Surprisingly, the hammer seemed to fit its body size perfectly.
But after the initial surprise, Barboach looked at Naoki, confused. "Barbo?"
Was this a gift for it? But how was it supposed to use it?
Naoki realized that Barboach didn't know about Thundurus, nor would it understand the significance of the hammer he was giving it.
He cleared his throat and sat down on the spot, intending to tell them the story of Thundurus.
Seeing this, the two Pokemon in front of him also sat down neatly.
Naoki began, "A long, long time ago, there was a Pokemon named Thundurus. It wore a crimson cloak that symbolized hope and wielded a mighty hammer. It traveled the world, punishing evil and helping Pokemon in need."
"Thundurus could channel the electricity within its body into the hammer, enveloping it in lightning to strike down its foes. In this way, it brought justice to many wrongdoers."
"Humans and Pokemon who received its aid called it a superhero. Over time, the image of Thundurus, cloaked in crimson and wielding its hammer as it soared through the skies, became a symbol of hope for all."
"Barbo... "
"Meowth..."
Upon hearing the story, both Barboach and Little Smithy couldn't help but look at each other with admiration and longing.
A spark of inspiration lit up Little Smithy's eyes as it recalled the forest fire incident. Back then, Barboach had been just like Thundurus, wearing a crimson cloak as it flew through the burning forest, searching for Pokemon in need of rescue.
Little Smithy looked at Barboach in admiration. "Meowth?!"
Naoki, too, was reminded of that scene, and he nodded with a smile, seeing the slightly shy expression on Barboach's face:
"That's right, Barboach is also a superhero."
Hearing this, Barboach's eyes shone with excitement.
It recalled the Pokemon named Thundurus from the story and tried to emulate it by gripping the hammer tightly and channeling its Electric-type energy.
The next moment, crackling electricity surged from Barboach's body, flowing toward the hammer at its command.
As the electricity arced and flashed, the hammer in its hand erupted with a powerful bolt of lightning.
Barboach stared at this display, its mouth falling open in disbelief.
"Barbo?!"
