Chapter 275: Sailing
Chapter 275: Sailing
"Hey, you, you're finally awake."
Lindsey regained consciousness.
He felt a swaying sensation beneath him, as if he were sitting in a wagon.
However, when he fully awakened, he realized he wasn't in a snowy forest as he had expected.
Lindsey was lying in a small boat.
An elderly man in gray cloth sat beside him, holding a cedar staff in his arms.
The one who had just noticed his awakening and greeted him was a knight sitting at the bow of the boat.
The boat's propulsion came from the oar the knight was rowing.
—Impressive.
A thought flashed through Lindsey's mind.
In theory, the person controlling the oar would sit in the middle or near the stern of the boat.
This would effectively control the boat while ensuring stability.
Sitting at the bow was a challenging task.
Lindsey blinked, hesitated for two seconds, and then nodded to the knight at the front of the boat, thanking him:
"I'm awake."
"Also, thank you for rescuing me earlier."
The people on the small boat were from the Forest Courtyard.
Platinum Palace kept his promise and shared the news from Black Mountain with his companions in another world. This rescue team immediately set out.
Their original goal was to rescue the Sensor whose body was occupied by the Dragon Beast.
However, the result was Lindsey's rescue.
Before encountering each other, Lindsey was still unwilling to explore the surroundings and wanted to search for Red's whereabouts.
As a result, he was discovered by several Revenants.
Severely injured, Lindsey's condition had deteriorated to the point where he had to give up fighting and tried to escape with two Snow Wolves.
In a critical moment, these awakened individuals who had landed in the ruins of Black Mountain discovered Lindsey and rescued him from the Revenants.
Exhausted, Lindsey fell into a coma.
Now, he slowly woke up on the boat, not even knowing the current time:
"Can you tell me how long I've been asleep?"
The knight at the bow of the boat showed a reassuring smile:
"Just half a day."
After answering, the knight noticed Lindsey's gaze scanning the surrounding water.
Without waiting for him to ask, the knight took the initiative to explain:
"The number of living corpses exceeded our initial estimate, and most of them escaped into the Black Mountain world. With just a few of us, it would be difficult to handle the situation."
"Therefore, whether it's clearing the ruins of that city or the subsequent cleanup of the living corpses, we need to gather more people back at the Forest Courtyard."
They were heading to the Forest Courtyard.
Lindsey understood the current situation but had some doubts:
"Didn't Platinum Palace know about the situation here? When he returned, didn't he inform them about the Dragon Beast?"
"The message wasn't wrong," the knight smiled bitterly, shaking his head. "But we found his description a bit too bizarre, so we decided to come and see for ourselves."
"In fact, Platinum Palace was right..."
As they spoke, Lindsey sat up in the boat.
The knight had wanted to express more about the significant changes on Black Mountain.
However, with his keen senses, he noticed Lindsey's weakness as he sat up:
"By the way, your name is Lindsey, right?"
Lindsey nodded in confirmation:
"Yes."
The knight was very concerned about Lindsey's condition:
"Lindsey, if you're truly exhausted, you can continue resting."
But Lindsey shook his head:
"I'm fine now. Ask away."
"Then I won't hold back." After confirming Lindsey could answer, the knight continued, "First, I want to understand what caused Black Mountain to become like this."
The knight looked behind him.
Even after half a day here, the collapse of a mountain peak was still unbelievable.
"A Dragon Beast engaged in combat with a Stage Seven enemy."
Sitting in the center of the small boat, Lindsey began to elaborate on this experience:
"They fought to the death, and the outcome was exactly as you witnessed—the entire mountain peak turned into ruins, and the Dragon Beast perished here."
The Knight inquired further:
"Can you describe the state of the person who fought the Dragon Beast?"
"Platinum Palace should have informed you about our encounter," Lindsey reminded him, "the person who sniped us from underground."
"He can conceal himself in shadows, teleport his position, and emit a fear-inducing mist, possessing the ability to pull people into the Dark World."
Listening to Lindsey's description.
The Knight's brows furrowed, clearly aware of the challenges posed by the Dark Abyss, and even more puzzled by the opponent's profession.
Among the enemies he had encountered, there seemed to be no such existence.
Just as Lindsey finished his explanation, before the Knight could ask further, the elder who had remained silent all along suddenly spoke up:
"An Awakener from the Dark Nexus School."
"The living corpses in the Black Mountain World were probably transformed by him as well."
As soon as the elder spoke, the Knight's attitude became respectful:
"Sir Cosevilet, I don't recall hearing about an Awakener named Dark Nexus."
The elder explained in a calm tone:
"Dark Nexus is one of the three major schools in the Chaos Abyss."
"They once threatened the entire universe and were subsequently annihilated, eventually fading into history."
"..."
The Knight's expression turned perplexed.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Grand Falls are ahead!"
Just then, a young man from another small boat called out to them:
"Sir Cosevilet, please prepare your spells!"
Boom—
Amid the young man's call, the rushing sound of water came from a distance.
Lindsey turned his head.
The roaring river abruptly stopped and rushed downward.
—This was a grand waterfall.
Lindsey recalled a passage from the expedition team's records.
'Following the Grand Falls upstream, we broke through the Forest Courtyard and entered a new world. Ahead of us was a snow mountain, and the river formed by its melting snow is the very waterfall that connects the two worlds.'
The Grand Falls were the connection between the two worlds!
To reach the Black Mountain World from the other side, one must go against the current, and naturally, to return from here...
"Are we heading beneath the waterfall?"
Boom—
The sound of the water grew louder, and the rushing waves pushed the small boat forward rapidly.
In the blink of an eye.
The downward-falling waterfall was now within arm's reach.
However, after the small boat crossed the boundary, it didn't plummet straight down with gravity.
Instead, it glided smoothly downward along the vertical water surface!
This feeling was as if they were ignoring inertia and gravity, moving directly on a vertical plane!
Lindsey abruptly turned his head.
Although he was severely injured, his ability to sense Essence hadn't vanished.
At this moment, Lindsey detected subtle Essence fluctuations beside the elder.
What ability was this?
Gravity manipulation?
"Right, I haven't introduced myself yet."
The Knight at the bow of the boat noticed Lindsey's movement.
He laughed heartily and enthusiastically introduced himself to Lindsey:
"Sir Cosevilet is a Stage Seven Great Wizard and the Guardian of the Border."
Then, the Knight pointed to himself:
"As for me, I am a Lawful Knight."
"Just call me Hanske."
