Chapter 275: Let the Slaughter Begin!
Chapter 275: Let the Slaughter Begin!
Outside the Four Seas Sect lay the Overturned Sea.
Legends claimed this had once been a vast island, identical to ordinary landmasses, until the last Millennium Cataclysm transformed it into a battlefield for the Overseas Dominion’s True Monarch. The clash had shattered heaven and earth, sinking the entire island and annihilating its ten thousand cultivators and over a hundred sect lineages. Thus emerged the name "Overturned Sea." Its proximity to the Four Seas Sect and the True Monarch’s domain kept most reckless beasts at bay.
Yet today, the sea had transformed anew.
A divine mountain now pierced the sea’s surface, its peak radiating a primordial magnetic aura that twisted the Five Elements wherever it passed. This was no longer the tranquil waters of old.
Beyond the mountain, colossal Mistwhales surged through the waves, their bodies churning yao qi (demonic energy) into a storm of dark clouds that encircled the sacred peak. From their gaping maws poured armies of Crab Generals, each wielding magic artifacts and forming battle arrays that flattened the sea into a mirror-like expanse.
At the heart of this demonic formation stood a woman in light armor, her silhouette sharp and alluring. Her flowing black hair bore a pair of delicate dragon horns that shimmered with divine radiance. Golden eyes blazed like wildfire as she surveyed the battlefield. This was Sui Ling, the Dragon Queen.
Though her cultivation at Foundation Building Mid-Stage lagged behind True Dragon Chong Ying, she had prepared meticulously. Her Heavenly Demon Edict Sea Array, forged through relentless drills, now commanded 490,000 demonic troops. Confident even a True Man’s arrival wouldn’t breach her defenses, she mused, "Pity my influence falls short. If my elder brother personally summoned our palace’s beasts, a million-strong army might rival a True Man."
Her motives were twofold: vengeance for Chong Ying and a bid to prove herself to the Dragon Sovereign for greater status.
Suddenly, a messenger interrupted her thoughts. "Your Highness, a group of Buddhist cultivators requests entry to the mountain!"
Sui Ling’s eyes narrowed. "Buddhists? Here to recruit more of our dragon palace disciples as Pure Land guardians?" She opened the array’s gate.
Moments later, twenty-four monks entered, their faces serene. The leader, an elder with snow-white eyebrows and a golden jade kasaya, clasped his palms. "Namo Amituofo! I am Hui Ku of the Suffering Enlightenment lineage. Greetings, Princess Sui Ling."
She dismissed the honorific with a wave, sizing him up. "Foundation Building Mid-Stage perfection. No threat." Her voice turned icy. "Master Hui Ku, what brings you here? To claim the mountain?"
"Far from it", Hui Ku shook his head. "We follow the Bodhisattva’s decree to escort the Vast Strength Dragon Arhat to Pure Land. Princess, this one you must not kill."
"Vast Strength?" Sui Ling’s expression darkened as she calculated. "You mean Yuan Tu, the Holy Sect’s True Man who murdered my brother!"
"Will you block my vengeance?"
"Namo Amituofo." Hui Ku’s smile never wavered. "Endless retaliation binds the soul. Perhaps you’d prefer a journey to Pure Land for reflection?"
The veiled threat crystallized her resolve. Letting them take Yuan Tu meant a fate worse than death. "Fine. Do as you wish."
The monks took position at the array’s edge—twenty-one Refining Qi perfection Dharma Guardians flanked two Foundation Building Early Stage Arhats.
A younger monk whispered, "Senior Brother, surely we won’t confront Yuan Tu directly? Even Ye Guyue’s defeat by his hands was terrifying!"
Hui Ku scoffed. "Rest easy. The Bodhisattva’s decree secured cooperation. That fallen phoenix Yuan Tu lost his True Monarch patron. Now he’s just another target for these demons to exhaust first."
Meanwhile, outside the sea’s perimeter, Lv Yang and Suo Huan halted mid-flight. The demonic clouds and piercing Buddhist light ahead made them grimace.
Suo Huan activated the Void Heaven Mirror, revealing the array’s depths. "The Four Seas Sect’s involvement complicates things. Add the Buddhists, and…" He trailed off, glancing at Lv Yang.
"For me, you mean?" Lv Yang’s bitter chuckle echoed. Memories flashed—his first life’s failure to kill the Heaven-Mending Peak Master, a blade shattered by a single finger. "Is this fate?"
Yet another memory surfaced: Chongguang’s words in the Yangilluminate Cave Realm. "One must rely on oneself."
His eyes hardened. "No more running. Foundation Building Mid-Stage Perfection—awaken my third divine ability through the Tribulation Tempest Blade’s Chifa Essence. Even as a discarded piece, I’ll carve my own path."
He turned to the seething demonic clouds and Buddhist radiance, a savage grin spreading.
"Let’s kill them all."
