Chapter 274: Resurrection
Chapter 274: Resurrection
October 12, 2024
"Hey, officer, let me read your fortune. If I get it right, you'll give me my compass, right?" Ji Li said.
"I don't believe in that stuff." The officer dismissed her.
"If you don't believe me, ask him." Ji Li pointed to the Si She sitting beside her with his eyes closed, meditating. "He's a Si She, and he never lies."
The officer remained unmoved.
Another officer walked over, "I'm going to the gambling den later. Should I bet on big or small?"
Ji Li smiled, "Your luck isn't good tonight. I advise you not to gamble."
"What about tomorrow?"
"Not tomorrow either."
"The day after?"
Ji Li shook her head and sighed, "Young man, you have no luck in gambling. You'll lose every time you gamble."
"Damn, she's right!" The second officer muttered. He rummaged through Ji Li's luggage and found the Feng Shui Compass, passing it through the iron bars, "Is this it?"
"That's it!" Ji Li exclaimed, taking the compass and lovingly wiping it with her sleeve. "Young man, although you have no gambling luck, you'll have romantic fortune within three days. Remember to go to the Lantern Festival."
After saying this, Ji Li sat back down next to Si She, "Little Snake, how is it? I won, right? I knew I could get the compass."
Si She replied, "I didn't agree to bet with you, and stop calling me Little Snake."
Ji Li asked, "Then what should I call you? Old Snake? Venomous Snake? Come on, we're so familiar with each other, calling you those names would be too formal. Why don't you tell me your name? All of us in the Twelve Guards have names, but you're the only one called by your zodiac sign. Did you lose your memory and forget your name, or do you just not like your name?"
"I don't like You Ji either. I'm so handsome and dashing, how can I be a chicken? I wanted to be a dragon!" Si She closed his eyes, no longer paying attention to the chatty chicken.
Ji Li grabbed Si She's wrist and shook it frantically, "Little Snake! Why aren't you talking? Answer me!"
Si She, like an old monk in deep meditation, said, "You're really noisy."
Ji Li was exasperated, "What's wrong with a chicken being noisy?!"
Si She: "..."
He pressed Ji Li's pressure point.
"Little Snake! I treat you like a brother, but you sneak attack me! You have no conscience—"
Si She pressed another pressure point, rendering Ji Li speechless.
Finally, the prison cell became quiet.
Si She closed his eyes again.
In the silence, the needle on Ji Li's Feng Shui Compass began to move—
Ji Li's eyes darted frantically: Si She, Si She! An old friend has come! You have to release my pressure points!
The needle on the compass swayed more violently than ever before.
What was happening? Who had arrived?
Why was the Feng Shui Compass reacting so strongly?
On a moonless night, the prison cell in the Ministry of Justice was eerily quiet.
Hai Zhu was tied to a chair.
His pressure points were almost released, and with one last surge of energy, he should be able to escape.
Just as this thought crossed his mind, the iron door of the prison cell slowly opened.
A tall man in a black cloak slowly entered the cell.
He carried an eerie aura that merged with the bloody atmosphere of the prison, making it feel like the depths of hell.
Hai Zhu's heart tightened. Although he couldn't see the man's face clearly, he felt a sense of apprehension.
"Who are you?" Hai Zhu asked.
The man walked up to Hai Zhu, looking down at him. Then, he slowly raised his gloved hand and removed the black cloak from his head.
A face that was half familiar and half unfamiliar appeared before Hai Zhu's eyes.
Hai Zhu was shocked, stunned for three breaths before exclaiming, "It's you..."
"Yes, it's me."
The man took out a half-face mask and put it on his ruined left cheek, "Weren't you waiting for me?"
"Hahaha!"
Hai Zhu suddenly burst into laughter, tears streaming down his face.
"Yes... I was waiting for you... But I thought I'd never see you again... I thought it was just my imagination... I never expected you to still be alive..."
