Chapter 273: President: At Least One of You Two Should Stay
Chapter 273: President: At Least One of You Two Should Stay
The month of May was drawing to a close, and it had been almost a month since Luo De and Mira officially started dating.
Luo De had a small worry recently.
On one hand, his cultivation was progressing well, but it still needed some time to reach his goal.
On the other hand, his relationship with Mira had its own issues.
Recently, they had no problem with cuddling and holding hands, but more intimate contact had become less frequent.
Luo De pondered how to take their relationship to the next level. Finally, he thought of taking on a mission that was a bit farther away and teaming up with Mira.
They had discussed this idea before, but they hadn't found a mission that interested them.
After the incident with the demon's heart, it had been over a month since Luo De had gone on a long trip.
Mira had been away even longer, and both of them wanted to go out.
On the last day of May, Luo De finally found a decent mission.
The destination was reachable in a day, starting in the morning and arriving by night.
Luo De estimated that the mission would take two to three days if everything went smoothly. The difficulty seemed ordinary to him.
The reward was 200,000 J, which was quite good for an average Magic Conductor.
Luo De immediately showed the mission to Mira.
"Everything is fine, but the content is a bit...," Mira hesitated, looking at the word 'rat infestation.'
Although she wasn't an ordinary girl, she had a strong aversion to rats and cockroaches.
Mira suggested, "Why don't we ask Hapi to do it?"
"Hapi would die."
"He's a cat."
"Cats can't handle so many rats, especially when there are mutant varieties and possibly a Rat King."
"Let's have Alphman take care of it."
Luo De gave a thumbs-up, "Good idea, but after dealing with the Rat King, would you still let Alphman into the house?"
Mira didn't hesitate, "We can just kick him out."
This method of doing the mission seemed a bit excessive.
"Are you really siblings?" Luo De teased, hugging Mira from behind, holding her small hand, and softly said,
"This rat infestation is very troublesome. If not handled promptly, the village might face a famine this year, and in severe cases, the villagers might starve to death."
Dark humor and kindness didn't conflict. After realizing the severity of the situation, Mira stopped laughing.
She had experienced hunger herself.
Mira sighed slightly, "Alright, but next time, I'll choose the mission."
"Alright, if you're not happy, you can have a free hug here."
"Hmph, in your dreams." She pinched Luo De's cheeks hard as a punishment.
Luo De blushed while talking to the President about teaming up with Mira to go on a mission.
Others might not care, but since he and Mira were leaving together, they had to inform the President, so he could have a mental preparation.
"No, no!" Makarov exaggeratedly hugged Luo De's legs, crying and sniffing, "It's the end of the month! What will I do without you?"
"President, please mind your image. We can finish our business today and leave tomorrow," Luo De tried to pull the President off, but the old man's strength was surprising.
Makarov didn't care about his image, acting like a child:
"But right after the end of the month, it's the beginning of the next! At least let Mira stay, such missions you can handle alone, right?"
"No, we are a team, and we cannot abandon our companion."
Luo De spoke with conviction. He and Mira had teamed up before, but the tasks they handled back then were all minor ones.
The mission records were available for review, and no one could deny that they were a team.
Mira smiled sweetly and said, "President, if you keep this up, I'll invite Erza to come with us~"
"No way!" Makarov immediately let go of Luo De.
If Mira and Luo De left, he could still ask Erza to step in, but if Erza also left, the guild would be in serious trouble.
Makarov could manage the daily affairs with the help of Makao and Wakaba, but the problem children... If those two couldn't keep them in line and he had to be away often, the guild would really fall apart.
Makarov compromised, "You must return as soon as possible!"
As the guild president, he shouldn't prevent the young people from going out to work.
Moreover, this was Mira's first mission since regaining her S-Class status. Luo De's insistence on teaming up with her was probably to help her get back into shape quickly, right?
Makarov looked at the two of them, who were almost touching while working... Well, who knows?
But it meant the kids were growing up, and that was a good thing.
Wait? Makarov suddenly thought, Mira was already S-Class, so...
Wouldn't it be the same no matter which of the two he chose?
He needed to think about this carefully, very carefully.
If Gildarts could return soon, that would be great. He wondered how Gildarts was doing outside.
...
June 1st, the sky was overcast.
Luo De woke up early and didn't go to the guild as usual to meet up. Instead, he went directly to Mira's house.
Elman answered the door, wearing pajamas and holding a toothbrush in his mouth.
He casually waved and turned back to continue brushing his teeth, letting Luo De enter on his own.
Elman was almost used to it. This guy had been coming to pick up his sister for work every day recently.
At first, he would follow them, but gradually, he became too lazy to do so.
One day, Luo De came a bit early, and Mira simply invited him in for breakfast.
Since then... they almost always had breakfast together.
Elman wondered if he should charge Luo De for meals, but it seemed that every time his sister went shopping for ingredients, Luo De accompanied her, and she said he had already contributed his share.
This guy was practically living with them.
Sister would eventually get married, after all.
Elman had recently started thinking about saving money. It wouldn't be appropriate for him to continue living with his sister after her marriage.
Luo De was unaware of Elman's thoughts. He skillfully changed into slippers and headed straight for the kitchen.
Mira was wearing a set of comfortable home clothes, an apron tied around her waist, her long hair tied back and neatly wrapped in a headscarf.
She was preparing breakfast and a lunch box for the road.
Luo De quietly watched her from the kitchen doorway, savoring the feeling of his heart fluttering. When she looked over, he asked, "Do you need any help?"
The question was somewhat redundant because, with his level of cooking, the most help he could offer was not to cause any trouble.
Luo De couldn't understand how Elman had mastered such good culinary skills.
Sure enough, Mira just smiled and said, "Just wait here."
"Okay," Luo De stood at the doorway, watching her.
Mira felt a bit uncomfortable and picked up a piece of fried sausage, stuffing it into Luo De's mouth.
"Alright, go wait outside. There are magazines on the table, and I'll be done soon."
Luo De was content with the treat.
He sat down and flipped through a magazine, thinking about finding time to learn cooking from Elman.
It was too much to always let Mira do all the cooking.
