Chapter 272: Secret
Chapter 272: Secret
Macao didn't chase after them, probably because the date wasn't over yet, and he didn't really care if his companions found out.
Such things are usually just for fun; otherwise, Loki would have been the top news in Fairy Tail all year round.
However, there were those who were particularly concerned about it, like Wakaba.
"That Macao guy, he actually didn't just talk about it, he really did it!" Wakaba was a bit envious, but mostly worried about Romeo's situation.
If Macao was serious, could Romeo accept having a stepmother? The kid is only six years old.
Most of Macao's close friends were concerned about this matter.
Natsu, however, was a bit different. He didn't really care either way because Macao's concern for Romeo wouldn't change.
It would be better to spend that time worrying about Loke, who just started dating Mira, and it happened right when Mira was fully recovered.
That guy... could he have been coerced by Mira?
"Loke."
"Happy? Want to play with Worm? It's in the kitchen."
"No, Natsu wants me to secretly ask you if you were coerced by Mira."
"Is this really a secret question?"
"Love! Because Loke was coerced... heh!" Happy tried to suppress a laugh.
Loke laughed too, as Mira was already behind Happy.
"Ha~bi~?" Mira tilted her head and smiled sweetly at Happy.
"Love?" Happy was a bit flustered but showed her a piece of paper, "Mira, look, look!"
On the paper was a Q-version of Loke and Mira, with Loke tied up and crying, and Mira in her Satan Soul form, holding a whip.
A demonic claw grabbed Happy's tail, and he was flung out like a blue windmill, hitting Natsu's head as he was about to run away.
It seemed the rumors about his girlfriend were starting to take a strange turn.
Loke chuckled and asked, "If I say I was kidnapped by you, would they come to save me?"
Mira put her hands on her hips, "Why say it? I'll really kidnap you right now!"
"Ah, I can't resist anyway, so come on." Loke extended his hands.
Mira swatted his hands away; this guy definitely had something on his mind.
"Mira, beer."
"Sure~" Mira poured a beer and handed it to Cana.
Cana pointed to the barrel, "Not that, I want that one."
Loke brought over the barrel, "Aren't you controlling your drinking?"
"I want to drink today, I won money yesterday!" Cana slapped a few large bills on the counter and grabbed the barrel from Loke, "I'm going to drink to my heart's content today and spend all my money!"
Mira signaled to Loke not to worry; it was just a barrel of beer, and Cana used to drink like this often.
But this time was clearly different. Cana quickly finished the barrel and still demanded another one.
"You've already had enough today. If you keep drinking, you might end up in the hospital." Loke couldn't understand where Cana was putting all the alcohol; her stomach didn't even show a bulge after a full barrel.
Mira also tried to persuade her, "Loke is right, Cana."
But Cana, in her current state, wasn't listening to any advice, "Why should I drink less just because he says so? I can still drink another barrel!"
Loke frowned, sensing that the 'he' Cana was referring to wasn't him.
Mira leaned in close to Loke's ear, "Give her one more, I'll go find some hangover medicine."
"Alright." Loke nodded, noticing Cana's unusual mood today.
He thought for a moment and then prepared some food.
And a trash can.
"Why?
"Rod, why do you think? hic"
Her mouth reeked of alcohol, and Rod waved his hand in front of it. "Why what?"
"@%... Don’t you recognize me?"
"What do you mean, don’t recognize you?" Rod was already confused by her rambling.
"@%... Me..." Cana hugged the barrel and mumbled incoherently.
By the time Mira returned, Cana had already fallen asleep on the counter.
Rod gave Mira a helpless look. "We couldn’t communicate at all, let alone persuade her."
"There’s nothing we can do. She must have encountered something troubling." Mira held out her hand to Rod. "Blanket."
"Here." Rod handed the blanket to Mira.
Mira carefully covered Cana, wrapping her back and waist completely.
Cana’s bold fashion sense made her more susceptible to catching a cold while sleeping like this.
Mira lifted the two empty barrels. "Her alcohol tolerance has doubled."
Continuing like this, the guild’s monthly revenue from alcohol would skyrocket, but neither of them felt happy about it.
Knowing a companion was troubled but unable to help felt terrible.
Rod carefully considered recent events. Had Mira and Erza’s battle put pressure on Cana?
Had the recent displays of affection from some guild members made her uncomfortable?
Or was it today’s rumor about Macao?
Rod remembered when Mira jokingly mentioned that Cana might like Macao...
It couldn’t be that. It was too far-fetched.
Even Mira didn’t believe it when she said it.
Mira suddenly said, "I want to go shopping tomorrow."
Rod nodded. "Sure."
"Not with you." Mira winked playfully. "I want to go with Cana."
Rod knew she wanted to help Cana relax. "One more person won’t hurt, and I can carry your bags."
"Hmm... No, we might talk about some girls-only topics."
Cana? A girl?
Oh, right, even though she’s a good buddy, she is a girl.
...
Mira’s efforts to comfort Cana seemed to have had a little effect.
After that, Cana still drank frequently, and her alcohol tolerance kept increasing, but she wasn’t as depressed as that day.
However, Rod noticed that Mira had become a bit strange.
He felt that she wanted to tell him something many times but never did.
One day, while training together, seeing Mira’s hesitant expression, Rod finally couldn’t hold back. "What do you want to tell me?"
Mira looked troubled. "I can’t say."
Rod hugged her, trying to use his charm. "What can’t you even tell me?"
His charm had a slight effect, but ultimately failed.
Mira hesitated, covering her ears. "Don’t ask. It’s a girls-only secret."
That made Rod even more curious.
He tried to extract the information through intense interrogation, tickling her.
Mira laughed uncontrollably at first, then started to fight back, and they ended up wrestling.
In the end, both were laughing so hard they were out of breath, lying on the ground.
Rod’s hand, as if guided by a GPS, accurately grabbed Mira’s hand and confirmed, "You really can’t tell me?"
"Really." Mira looked very distressed.
She was usually the one who loved sharing gossip, but now she had a huge secret that she couldn’t reveal because she had promised Cana.
This feeling was terrible.
But, twelve years... Cana really deserves some happiness.
