Chapter 272: Can You Tell Me Your Name?
Chapter 272: Can You Tell Me Your Name?
Ivan saw the expression on Sirius Black's face and understood his thoughts. He said, "The people I need to deal with are all Dark Wizards. Don't tell me you've never killed any."
As a former core member of the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius Black had certainly killed Dark Wizards. In fact, during the last wizarding war, many Death Eaters had fallen to his hand.
However, this did not mean he would help Ivan kill people without cause. Sirius stared at Ivan for a moment and then suddenly asked, "Can you tell me your name?"
"Ivan Hals!" Ivan saw no need to hide it and answered casually.
Hals?! Sirius vaguely felt a sense of familiarity. Could it be that Hals?
But then Sirius glanced at Dobby and felt a bit puzzled. If he remembered correctly, their family did not have a House-Elf.
Rumble
Amidst their silence, a sound came from Sirius's direction.
Ivan turned to look at Sirius, and the sound was indeed coming from him.
Sirius was quite embarrassed. Since escaping from Azkaban, he hadn't eaten much, and with the significant physical exertion, he was starving.
"Dobby, prepare some food for him!" Ivan said.
Dobby gave Sirius an unhappy look, remembering how Sirius had attempted to attack his new master twice. However, he still snapped his fingers and disappeared.
A moment later, Dobby returned with a plate of food, which included steak, custard pudding, and cornflakes.
As for the source of the food
It was from Hogwarts. When Dobby went to the kitchen, he happened to see a plate filled with food.
Perhaps it was the dinner of the Bearded Headmaster?
Who knows?
Sirius didn't hesitate, grabbing a piece of steak and shoving it into his mouth. The juices splattered as he bit into it, and his eating was quite messy.
Ivan opened a thick book on potion ingredients and turned back to his research, preparing to brew some Veritaserum.
After all, he couldn't perform Legilimency, so he needed to ensure he could get accurate information from those who knew something.
Fortunately, he had seen the method for brewing Veritaserum in the book "Powerful Potions" in the Restricted Section.
The brewing process was quite difficult, and since he had never needed it before, this was Ivan's first time making this potion.
Meanwhile, Sirius continued to observe Ivan as he ate. Once he was full and the stiffness in his body had completely disappeared, he put down the plate, wiped the grease from his mouth, and hesitated before asking, "Hals, can you tell me who your parents are?"
"That's not your business!" Ivan glanced at him.
"Maybe, but if I'm not mistaken, I might know your father!" Sirius raised an eyebrow, probing further. "You're probably from a single-parent family, right?"
Hearing this, Ivan's movements in preparing the Veritaserum paused, but he didn't respond.
Sirius noticed this and understood. He continued, "That's right. Your father and I used to work together. We were good friends and fought against the Death Eaters together."
"He was a very brave man, a true hero, always fighting on the front lines. We thwarted many of the Dark Lord's schemes together."
Sirius Black spoke at length about the events from thirteen years ago, hoping to use these memories to bridge the gap between them. However, Ivan impatiently interrupted him.
"But he died in the end, didn't he?"
Sirius's expression froze. He wanted to correct Ivan, because in his view, Ivan's father had died a heroic death, a great sacrifice!
However, Ivan didn't give him the chance. Before Sirius could speak, he emphasized his words and continued.
"If I'm not mistaken, his death was related to Dumbledore?"
Sirius was completely stunned. He stared blankly at Ivan, then said angrily,
"Is this how your mother taught you? I knew she was a selfish and bitter person! A complete Dark Wizard! Your father must have been blind to fall for her!"
"For over a decade, she tried to stop your father from joining the Order of the Phoenix, constantly urging him to abandon everyone in their greatest hour of need and escape to America. She even secretly sabotaged him. None of your father's friends, including me, had any respect for her!"
Sirius's tone was sharp, and he was about to unleash more insults when a blinding red light narrowly missed his face, interrupting his words.
A moment later, a loud explosion echoed, and a large circular hole appeared in the wall behind him.
"Shut up!" Ivan glared coldly at Sirius.
Compared to the masked "hero" father he barely knew, Ivan trusted Aisha more and was willing to stand by her side. He couldn't stand Sirius's taunts.
Ivan's extreme reaction far exceeded Sirius's expectations. He glanced at the large hole in the wall behind him, breaking out in a cold sweat.
If that spell had hit him directly, he would likely have been severely injured.
Sirius fell silent for a moment but didn't get angry again.
From Ivan's reaction, he sensed something was off. Considering Ivan was alone in this dilapidated house late at night, Sirius softened his tone and asked quietly,
"Where is your mother?"
"She's fine. You should worry about yourself instead", Ivan replied stiffly.
He had kept Aisha's death a secret to confuse the mastermind behind the events, making it easier for him to use the Polyjuice Potion. Additionally, he wanted to avoid Aisha's social death.
Ivan didn't know much about time paradoxes, but he understood that if many people knew Aisha was dead, it wouldn't help him go back in time to save her.
After a moment's thought, Ivan turned to Dobby and said,
"Dobby, keep an eye on Black. If he says another word, use the Stunning Spell to keep him quiet."
"Yes, sir!"
Dobby was excited. The tip of his right index finger glowed with magical light, and his large, copper-coin-sized eyes fixed intently on Sirius's every move, the Stunning Spell ready to be cast.
Under Dobby's strict surveillance, Sirius reluctantly shut his mouth, though he sighed inwardly. He had some suspicions now.
