Chapter 272: An Easy Battle
Chapter 272: An Easy Battle
Boom!
With a thunderous roar, the iron javelin transformed into a dazzling bolt of lightning, hurtling towards the Poisonous Spine Dragon in the sky.
Before Ji Xinghuo's ascension to Superhuman, his Electromagnetic Javelin had a lethal range of only 300 meters. Now, not only had he reached the Superhuman level, but his Stellar Power and Spiritual Energy had also skyrocketed, and his physical strength had more than doubled. As he threw the javelin, he also activated Dragon Madness, further amplifying his strength.
This throw encompassed a triple enhancement of electromagnetic, spiritual, and physical power!
In an instant...
The javelin streaked across the sky, as swift as a genuine lightning bolt. It struck the Poisonous Spine Dragon nearly 600 meters away, despite its desperate attempts to dodge.
The electric light poisoned the dragon's head, piercing through the toxic mist and wooden exterior.
Then it exploded within its brain.
Crack!
The Poisonous Spine Dragon's head blasted open, showering the sky with wooden shards and toxic liquid. Its wings ceased their flapping, and it plummeted from the sky.
An exceptional monster had just met its abrupt end.
Moreover, after piercing through the dragon's head, the iron javelin continued its trajectory and, incredibly, impaled the chest of the fungal giant riding on the dragon's back.
The fungal giant reacted swiftly, its body rapidly expanding to over four meters in height, but it was a step too late.
Countless lightning bolts erupted, blasting a gaping hole through its chest.
Even with the fungal giant's extraordinarily robust regenerative ability, such a severe wound could not be mended. The green light in its eyes dimmed as it fell alongside the dragon's corpse.
"Is that all?"
Witnessing this, Ji Xinghuo's calmness only increased.
[Mental Source Energy +1]
[Mental Source Energy +1]
He glanced at the prompts in the Myriad Star Pupils interface, surprised to find that defeating an exceptional monster and a Level Four fungal giant had only granted him 1 point of Mental Source Energy.
It was utterly ridiculous.
Nonetheless, this did not hinder Ji Xinghuo's combat prowess. He drew another iron javelin and took aim at another Poisonous Spine Dragon.
This target was also of exceptional caliber, a disaster-level Poisonous Spine Dragon with a fungal giant rider. He wasn't entirely confident that he could take it down in one blow.
Boom!
The electromagnetic javelin was unleashed once more.
The next second, the second Poisonous Spine Dragon's head exploded, taking the fungal giant with it.
These dragons had maintained a wide distance between them, forming a loose encirclement. Now, however, they became sitting ducks in the air, unable to advance or retreat, nor could they provide aid to one another.
All they could do was accelerate and charge madly towards Ji Xinghuo.
Boom! Boom!
Seizing the opportunity before the enemies closed in, Ji Xinghuo hurled four more iron javelins in quick succession, each one finding its mark with pinpoint accuracy, taking down a Poisonous Spine Dragon and its fungal giant rider despite their frantic evasions. All their efforts were in vain before the Myriad Star Pupils.
Ji Xinghuo now had only one javelin left in his hand, with dozens more hidden in his Dimensional Stomach, but he had no intention of revealing this secret weapon.
At this moment, the two most formidable Poisonous Spine Dragons had closed in to within a hundred meters.
One on the left, one on the right, they attempted to outflank him.
The dragons opened their massive jaws, preparing to unleash a torrent of toxic breath.
The fungal giants on their backs also revealed themselves, expanding to a height of over five meters. Their bodies were robust as walls, their wrinkled skin adorned with knobs of various sizes, and their hands were a pair of wooden claws. Their visages were hideous and distorted, exuding an intimidating aura.
Ji Xinghuo paid no heed to these threats. He threw his last iron javelin, and with a thunderous roar, it claimed the fifth Poisonous Spine Dragon as it flew alongside.
In the blink of an eye, half of the enemies had been eliminated.
Having exhausted his javelins, Ji Xinghuo suddenly descended. He reversed the polarity of his magnetic powers, causing his body to accelerate downward. Two streams of green breath swept over his head, but he nimbly avoided them.
Thud!
Ji Xinghuo landed on the ground and looked up to see all five Poisonous Spine Dragons diving towards him.
Hordes of other monsters also surged forward like a tidal wave, intent on crushing him.
A flash of lightning flickered in his eyes.
Boom!
A thunderclap erupted in the sky, and in an instant, several thick lightning bolts struck the three exceptional-level Poisonous Spine Dragons, paralyzing them and eliciting anguished roars.
Simultaneously, the Spirit Sword Wristband on Ji Xinghuo's left wrist had already activated, and the fire sword detached itself, transforming into a streak of crimson sword light that shot upwards.
Infused with spiritual energy, the sword light intensified, and both it and its reflection emitted laser beams over three meters long, slicing mercilessly towards one of the dragons.
It cut through the first dragon's neck and then turned towards the second and third.
In the flashing of the sword light, the necks of the three dragons were severed.
The three fungal giants promptly abandoned their mounts and leaped down, charging towards Ji Xinghuo's position. But before they could reach him, the crimson sword light caught up.
The fire sword, like a laser, radiated intense heat, slicing through the fungal giants' bodies as if they were butter and triggering an "Inferno Explosion" within them. The three giants exploded like watermelons, turning into a mass of green juice.
Fortunately, the results were significant, as he had eliminated most of the enemies in one fell swoop, leaving only the two strongest Poisonous Spine Dragons and the fungal giants.
The fire sword returned and reattached itself to the Spirit Sword Wristband.
By now, the surrounding monsters had rushed forward.
Ji Xinghuo sprinted, his right hand gripping the Ice Vein Axe and his left wielding the Crystal Light Gun, continuously firing at the monsters in front of him. For those he didn't have time to shoot, he simply ran them over or cleaved them in two with his axe, their bodies disintegrating like tofu under his might.
A vast shadow loomed overhead as the two Poisonous Spine Dragons caught up, spewing a torrent of green toxic breath that engulfed both Ji Xinghuo and the monsters below.
Just as the toxic breath was about to engulf him, Ji Xinghuo vanished with a flash step.
He executed three flash steps in quick succession.
Ji Xinghuo's figure seemed to teleport, appearing dozens of meters to the side in the blink of an eye, easily dodging the toxic breath. Dozens of monsters were not so lucky, their bodies corroding and dying as if they had fallen into a vat of sulfuric acid.
A towering figure leaped from the back of one of the dragons.
Boom!
The ground shook as a fungal giant over five meters tall landed, its feet sinking into the earth. With a roar, countless greenish-blue fungal threads sprouted from the ground within a radius of several hundred meters, forming a thick carpet. The plants in the area seemed to come to life, tangling together to form innumerable vines and branches that surged toward Ji Xinghuo like poisonous snakes.
Ji Xinghuo reacted swiftly, his Ice Vein Axe in hand.
Ice Roar!
A torrent of cold air burst forth in all directions, freezing and shattering the encroaching vines and branches. Ji Xinghuo pressed forward, swinging his axe and charging toward the enemy.
The fungal giant's hands swiftly morphed. Its left hand became a massive wooden shield, while its right hand transformed into a thick green whip, lashing out at the charging Ji Xinghuo. The terrifying force of the whip cleaved through the air like a giant blade over a dozen meters long.
In the sky above, the other Poisonous Spine Dragon dove down, spewing its toxic breath.
Ji Xinghuo, still in his mad dash, was engulfed by the breath.
But in the next second, he burst out of the toxic breath, his clothes corroded and torn, yet his body remained unharmed, and his speed even increased.
Flash Step!
Ji Xinghuo's figure disappeared and reappeared, skillfully dodging the whip strike, his eyes flashing with electric light.
Rumble!
A thick bolt of lightning fell from the sky, striking the fungal giant.
Seizing the opportunity while the enemy was paralyzed, Ji Xinghuo executed three flash steps in rapid succession, closing the distance. The fungal giant had recovered by then, its right arm now transformed into a giant wooden blade. It brought the blade down in a deadly chop, but to Ji Xinghuo's eyes, its movements seemed to be in slow motion. He sidestepped, and the blade whistled harmlessly through the air, slicing into the ground.
Ji Xinghuo leaped several meters into the air, his muscles bulging as he raised the Ice Vein Axe above his head, channeling all his power into this strike.
The fungal giant raised its wooden shield.
Crack!
Wooden shards flew as the shield shattered into pieces, unable to withstand the force of the dual-bladed axe, which cleaved through and sliced the giant's head in two.
The axe, imbued with frost, froze the giant's corpse into an ice sculpture.
As Ji Xinghuo landed, he pointed a finger, and a Thunderclap Palm struck the frozen body, shattering it into countless fragments, ensuring its destruction.
He immediately followed up with a flash step to evade.
Just as he vanished, a Poisonous Spine Dragon's massive claws swept through the air, a deadly strike that would have connected had he been a fraction of a second slower.
Ji Xinghuo reappeared on the dragon's back and hurled his axe with all his might.
The Ice Vein Axe, also made of metal, was enhanced by his strength, electricity, and speed. The axe blade sliced through the air and chopped off one of the dragon's wings at its root, causing it to go tumbling to the ground, leaving a hundred-meter-long furrow in its wake.
The dragon, sensing Ji Xinghuo's proximity, fired its poisonous spines.
These spines were a couple of meters long and highly toxic. They were the Poisonous Spine Dragon's last resort in close-quarters combat, akin to the quills of a porcupine. It only took a few of these spines to kill a target, and now the dragon unleashed them without restraint.
Ji Xinghuo easily dodged the majority of the spines, and the few that managed to strike his body were deflected harmlessly by his Holy Scale Armor.
Holding his axe, he leaped onto the dragon's back. With two flash steps, he found himself atop its head, moving with agility and speed that defied the dragon's attempts to shake him off. No matter how the dragon twisted and turned, he remained firmly in place, out of reach of its toxic breath. With a mighty swing of his axe, he cleaved the dragon's head from its body.
This Disaster-level monster might have been at the bottom of the Hong Grade, but it was still outrageous to only receive 1 point of Mental Source Energy.
However, he didn't have time to complain, as he still had to deal with the Poisonous Spine Dragon and the Fungal Giant, both of which were also Disaster-level threats.
Unfazed, the Poisonous Spine Dragon turned in the sky and dived once more, preparing to unleash its toxic breath.
By now, Ji Xinghuo was completely relaxed, standing still as he casually chopped down over a dozen monsters that surrounded him. He allowed the toxic breath to engulf him as he raised his hand and unleashed a Thunderclap Palm.
Lightning tore through the toxic breath, as thick as a pillar, striking the dragon's abdomen and piercing through its green protective aura and wooden exterior, blasting a huge hole in its body.
The fire sword was activated again, and a laser beam several meters long followed the lightning strike, piercing into the gaping hole in the dragon's abdomen.
Muffled explosions reverberated from within the dragon's body.
That was a series of five consecutive Inferno Explosions.
The high-temperature explosions, coupled with the fire sword's laser, turned the dragon's insides into a mess of bloody pulp. The Poisonous Spine Dragon let out a blood-curdling scream as it crashed into the ground.
The fire sword pierced through the dragon's back and pursued the Fungal Giant, slicing open its body and causing green blood to spill out.
These wounds were negligible to the Fungal Giant.
However, it couldn't ignore Ji Xinghuo himself.
The Fungal Giant leaped off the dying Poisonous Spine Dragon before it hit the ground. But before it could land, a massive bolt of lightning struck it, paralyzing its body. A flying axe came whistling from afar, nearly slicing it in half at the waist, and the surrounding fire swords took advantage of its vulnerability, stabbing into its chest and detonating an Inferno Explosion.
Boom!
As it landed, the Fungal Giant's body became a burning, mutilated corpse.
The high-temperature flames suppressed the plant-based creature, and despite its powerful regenerative abilities and control over plants, it was utterly useless in this situation.
Ji Xinghuo executed a Flash Step, appearing next to the giant, and with a swing of his axe, he cleaved its head in two.
[Mental Source Energy +1]
"Easy," Ji Xinghuo calmly shook his head.
Whether it was the Poisonous Spine Dragon or the Fungal Giant, despite their high tiers, they clearly lacked sufficient intelligence and relied solely on instinct in battle. In the end, they were just monsters. Moreover, they didn't possess many awakened abilities, and when compared to a true legend, they fell short.
Of course, if it were any other Superhuman facing ten Poisonous Spine Dragons and ten Fungal Giants, simply surviving would be an impressive feat.
"I guess I'm just too strong," Ji Xinghuo thought with a sense of satisfaction.
Surrounding monsters closed in once more.
With less than 1000 Stellar Power remaining, Ji Xinghuo chose the most energy-efficient combat method and relied solely on the Ice Vein Axe, chopping down the monsters one by one.
He was surrounded by monsters, and the situation seemed dangerous, but he handled it with ease.
His battle axe danced, and his footsteps were nimble.
With each step, Ji Xinghuo effortlessly avoided incoming attacks.
And with each strike, he exerted just the right amount of strength, not wasting a bit of energy.
Monsters that rushed forward were cut down, whether they approached from the front or behind, regardless of their direction. Any monster that came close to Ji Xinghuo would be chopped in half or decapitated, none of them able to land a hit on his body.
Ji Xinghuo was immersed in the close-quarters slaughter, and suddenly, the monsters around him were all dead, their bodies littering the ground.
His electromagnetic senses detected over a thousand more monsters in the area, but they were scattering and moving away.
"I haven't had enough yet," Ji Xinghuo thought, feeling a bit unsatisfied as he looked at the battle axe in his hand, dripping with green liquid.
With his physical endurance and recovery abilities, he could keep fighting for seven days and nights without a problem.
High above, several crimson beams of light burst forth.
The laser cannons fired again, and two or three laser beams struck the ground about a kilometer away, obliterating monsters that were attempting to flee. This time, the orbital laser cannon bombardment was brief, lasting only a few seconds.
Ji Xinghuo surveyed the corpses of the monsters strewn across the ground.
In the past, no matter how many monsters he attracted, the laser cannons would turn them to ashes, leaving nothing behind, and he wouldn't be able to collect any exotic species.
But today was different.
Ji Xinghuo immediately walked over to the massive corpse of a Poisonous Spine Dragon and placed his hand on it. A window popped up in his vision, displaying the dragon's exotic species information.
"Not bad," he shook his head, feeling that the Poisonous Spine Dragon's exotic species weren't that impressive in terms of quantity or quality.
Then he moved on to inspect the Fungal Giant's exotic species.
As Ji Xinghuo perused the information in the interface, his eyes lit up. The Fungal Giant's exotic species were much better than those of the Poisonous Spine Dragon!
