Chapter 272.6: Training & Etc. (6)
So the Main of a Magic Art Affinity is only up to Level 15…
Vivian's [Poison Mastery] reached Level 15 first because her Poison was x6.4 while her Soul was only x5. And when her Soul finally reached Level 15 as well, there were too many nervous systems rushing towards her that she had to finish them off first and ended up leveling up the Main of her [Throw Mastery] to Level 10.
I got the [Poison Golem] and [Soul Golem] and Level 13…
Got stats at Level 14…
And then got [Poison Body] and [Soul Body] at Level 15, making me now immune to Poison and Soul spells…
I was wrong and they were correct…
It truly is 1 Magic Art = 2 Physical Arts…
A single Magic Art gives around 90 INT…
Meanwhile, a single Physical Art gives around 45 VIT…
A thought suddenly flashed inside her head.
Just to make things simple…
If a person masters 1 Magic Art and 2 Physical Arts…
Then he or she has STR - 100, VIT - 100, AGI - 100 and INT - 100…
So if a person only has 1 Magic Art…
He has 100 points…
If a person has 2 Magic Arts…
Then he has 200 points…
If a person has 3…
Then 300 points…
For 4 or Viscounts and Barons…
400 points…
And then for 5 or Counts, Marquesses, Dukes, Kings, Cardinals and Light Saints…
500 points…
Her gaze landed on her total number of stats.
I'm definitely now stronger compared to Viscount and Baron…
But the problem here is their Lore Magic…
And each Aristocratic Noble family has their own Lore Magic…
I'm assuming the old or ancient Priest and demon-kin families are no different either…
She closed the Status Panel and then swept her gaze around her surroundings.
In front of her was a small cavern only about 5 meters high and the width of almost two basketball courts. There were no other passages except for a hole that was only enough for one person to pass but it led further underground and was also submerged under water which was now littered with bits and pieces of flesh and bones floating in the surface and soaked with blood.
This was stupid…
I should've taken the first or second floor…
What she meant was B1 and B2.
I need to go back…
She turned back and then glanced at her Poison Golem.
Hmm…
To deactivate or not to deactivate…?
The golem vanished.
Yeah…
It's just going to slow me down…
Vooom!
***
Maxence and Stilis were still riding the elevator. They'd already passed B1, B2 and B3 but heard nothing so they decided to head together to B4 and B5.
"Stop!" Maxence suddenly said.
Cra-aaa-annng...!
Stilis quickly pressed a button and the elevator stopped moving.
"I think I heard something," Maxence said.
Stilis focused and strained his ears and then his eyes became wide.
Maxence went over to the hole inside middle of the platform. And as soon as he peaked into the hole, his eyes widened when he saw a 5-meter-tall Demon climbing up on the elevator shaft. His head whipped towards Stilis.
"BRING US UP!!!" he said and as he activated a spell through the hole.
[Light Golem].
Cra-aaa-annng...!
The elevator let out a painful metallic cry and a 3-meter-tall golem began to manifest underneath it. When the elevator started moving, the golem was finally done and fell down to face the Demon.
BOOOM!
Maxence and Stilis heard a loud noise underneath and their surroundings shook, causing the elevator pause momentarily and them to almost lose their balance.
HUWAAAAAAAAA!!!
Once their surroundings stopped shaking and the elevator resumed climbing, they heard a loud and inhuman scream underneath.
Maxence went over to the hole once again and saw the Demon was climbing faster, stabbing its fingers against the stone walls as if they made out of sand.
[Fire Spear].
A 1-meter-long spear made out of fire appeared on his hand and he threw it down through the hole.
Pfff.
The spell landed on the Demon's head but it simply disintegrated as if it struck an impenetrable wall.
Chud!
Stilis grabbed the cloth on Maxence's back.
[Power Leg].
"Let's go!" he said and then jumped over to the entrance of B3 while using the momentum of the Physical Art.
Thud, thud!
BA-RIIIP!
As Stilis and Maxence landed on B3, a giant demonic fist shot through the elevator and destroyed it.
[Poison Golem].
A 3-meter-tall Poison Golem that was kneeling on one knee appeared in front of them while the Demon continued climbing up.
Maxence and Stilis immediately got up and activated skills.
[Mana Sword].
[Mana Axe].
Vooom!
Stilis lunged forward.
[Explosive Axe].
Booom!
His skill landed the golem's head but it was completely unharmed.
"We have to run! Create a distance between the caster and the golem!" Maxence said.
[Blessing].
Red light enveloped Stilis' body.
[Blessing].
This time around it was his.
Vooom!
Vooom!
As they both turned around and began running, the Poison Golem was finally done manifesting.
Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud…!
It immediately began crawling on all fours as it pursue them.
Chud-crack!
The golem caught Stilis by the head but no green mist exploded and broke his neck. It shifted its attention to Maxence while carrying Stilis' corpse on its hand.
Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, thud…!
Maxence couldn't remember the last time he ran so fast. At his age, early 30s, White Cloak, two Magic Art Affinities and the rank of a Captain in the Infantry Division of the Holy Crusade, his stats were:
• STR - 165 (+30)
• VIT - 165 (+30)
• AGI - 165 (+30)
• INT - 165 (+30)
Chu-psssh-crack!
The golem caught finally Maxence and broke his neck as well. It then turned around and went to where its master was while carrying the two corpses on its arm.
***
[Greater Origin Transformation].
Blaaak!
Thud.
Vivian reverted to her human form except for her eyes as she landed on B2.
I don’t can’t go back to the surface…
I can already guess that there are people there waiting for me up in the skies to track me…
And the 2nd is too close to the surface…
By 2nd floor, she meant B1.
[Mana Tail].
A 3-meter-long demonic tail made out of blue mana appeared on her lower back and it picked up her belongings wrapped with White Cloak.
Vooom!
She ran around randomly until she reached a dead end.
Here…
Vooom!
Her Poison Golem arrived behind her and then placed the corpses of Maxence and Stilis beside the wall.
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
A crater with a diameter of 1 meter appeared on the wall and the two corpses turned into a mist of blood and dust.
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
Vivian threw the same skill at the crater, deepening its depth.
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
When Vivian was already a couple of meters away from where she first started, she sent out a mental command to the Poison Golem.
The golem immediately began destroying the ceiling and rocks started falling until the entrance to the small tunnel that Vivian created was closed.
There…
I don't have to worry about the light anymore…
[Greater Origin Enchant].
Dark red lightning appeared on her hand.
[Halo].
As soon as the golden ring started to manifest on her back, the lightning on her hand crawled from her body to the ring until the ring itself grew 4 times larger.
"It's digging time!"
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
[Explosive Fist].
Booom!
***
Somewhere in the Great Plains of Stanza.
Thud.
A flat plain of sand bounced.
Thud.
It bounced once again.
Thud.
This time around, it bounced for a moment but then the sand suddenly started sinking to the bottom until a hole was formed.
Booom!
The sand covering the hole vanished and Vivian, who in her human form except for her eyes and was wearing her Inquisitor attire along with her half-mask, emerged.
She turned to the horizon and saw the sun already rising.
Well…
It's not like I can stop time or instantaneously recover my mana…
She pulled her gaze away from the sun and swept her gaze around the rest of her surroundings.
I really have no idea where I am…
And as expected…
She saw a Rhonea flying in the sky.
[Greater Origin Transformation].
Her eyes reverted to their human form.
[Halo].
A golden ring appeared on her back and she began waving.
Several seconds later, the Rhonea and its rider, a Priest wearing a full set of the Crusader Armor, descended from the sky.
Vivian deactivated her [Halo] and waited. However, as the Rhonea got closer to her, she could feel its murderous intent towards her.
If she were to describe what a Rhonea was, it was basically a giant owl that stood almost 3 meters tall, it had 2 black horns protruding on its head and it also had a snake-like tail with a spear-shape blade on its tip. Depending on the color of its feathers, aside from the neutral overall gray, it can cast Magic Arts. And the Rhonea she was looking at had light blue feathers.
When the bird was about 10 meters from her, it suddenly cast a spell.
[Ice Arrow].
Woooh!
"Kyaaaah…!"
Thud!
Vivian let out a frightened scream as she jumped to the side to evade the spell and fell to the ground. She didn't stand up and held one hand in front of her chest as she trembled in fear.
The Crusader immediately pulled the reins to control the Rhonea from going berserk.
"Loro! Stop it! What's going on with you?!"
The bird continued being aggressive so the Crusade violently yanked the reins, almost breaking the bird's neck.
"I'M WARNING YOU!" he said and then activated [Halo]. "BEHAVE!!!"
The bird now was trapped in two states -- on one hand, due to its training and appreciation for its master, it wanted to follow the command. On the other hand, it wanted to rip and tear the Priestess below. In the end, its training and appreciation for its master prevailed. However, it continued to glare dangerously at the Priestess.
When they finally landed, the Crusader deactivated his [Halo] and got off of the bird.
"Loro, I'm warning you. I really don't have time for this," he said coldly before rushing over to Vivian and offering his hand. "Sister Inquisitor, are you alright?"
Still trembling from the unexpected attack, Vivian hesitantly half-reached out for the Priest's hand while her gaze bounced between the Priest and the Rhonea, but mostly on the latter.
"I... I'm fine… It's just… your bird…"
The Crusader removed his helmet, revealing a man with short black curly hair and dark skin in his early 30s.
"Don't worry, Sister Inquisitor, Loro is harmless. But please forgive him. I'm Brother Captain Thabit of the Air Division, by the way," he said and flashed a very warm and kind smile.
Vivian stared at Loro for a moment before returning her attention to Thabit and then finally reaching out for his hand.
"S-Sister Inquisitor Gela…" she said as she got up.
Thabit released her hand and then saluted.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sister Inquisitor Gela. And may the God of Light watch over you." he said and smiled.
Vivian saluted.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well… And may the God of Light watch over you too…"
"Sister Inquisitor, if you don't mind, may I ask what are you doing here?"
Vivian let out a gasp as she covered her mouth under her half-mask with her hands.
"Brother, please help me…! I was sent here on a classified Field Mission with a group of Priests and Knights but we encountered a powerful Lesser Demon…!"
Thud.
She fell down on her knees and then covered her face with her hands.
"I was the weakest in our group… So they told me to hide here while they fight and drive away the demon… I'm sorry… I'm very sorry…!" she said and began sobbing.
Thabit knelt down and thought about putting his hand on Vivian's trembling shoulders to comfort her but decided not to in the end.
"Sister Inquisitor, the God of Light knows how sorry I am to hear that. Unfortunately, I'm currently on a Field Mission as well. A powerful demon attacked and destroyed the Second Stanza Western Barracks last night and I'm one of the people assigned to patrol this area. All I can do for you right now is to call the others and then have them escort you to the nearest base."
Vivian abruptly stopped crying and faced him.
"No, don't do that, Brother Captain. I'm currently on a classified Field Mission. I can't spare you all of the details because it involves a lot of powerful and influential people from the Holy Kingdom and the Twin Kingdom. But all I can say is that we were tasked to investigate a suspected lair of a powerful demon Necromancer and his group around this area. I need you to escort me to the Third Inner Stanza Border Checkpoint right away where our overall leader is waiting so that I can tell him what happened."
She threw herself to Thabit and placed her hands on his chest armor.
"Please…! I beg you, Brother Captain…! Please escort me there right away so that our fellow Brothers and Sisters and the Knights who came with me can be avenged right away…!"
Thabit stared at Vivian's eyes through the slits of her mask.
Unlike the members of the Infantry Division and Air Division who could be assigned anywhere, when it comes to the Inquisitory Division, the Exploratory Division and the Sea Division, they can only be found in specific places.
But despite how strange it was to find an Inquisitor walking all alone in the middle of the desert and for some reason, she also had a strong stench of fish and blood coming off of her, there were at least three things that he was sure of: Vivian had [Halo], her accent sounded like someone from the Luxen Kingdom, and the complexion of her skin shows that she's from around or near the northern region of the Northern Continent.
"Okay. But I can't stay for long, I still have to come back here and report to my team. Don't worry, I won't mention any of this."
Vivian lowered her head and began crying once again.
"Thank you…! Thank you so much, Brother Captain…! I'll never forget this…! May the God of Light bless and watch over you always…!"
***
Some time later…
Loro was up in the sky with Thabit and Vivian riding on its back -- Thabit controlled the reins while Vivian had her arms wrapped around Thabit.
"Are we there yet?!" Vivian asked.
Due to the strong winds from flying, people had to shout in order to hear each other. Not to mention, Thabit was also wearing a helmet.
"About 30 minutes more!" Thabit replied.
Vivian pointed.
"Over that direction?!"
"Yes!"
Vivian waited for a couple more seconds before speaking once again.
"Brother Captain! I think I saw something!"
"What?!"
"I think I saw something over there!" she said and pointed.
Thabit turned to the direction of where Vivian was pointing. But all he saw was a large rock in the middle of a vast desert.
"Do you see it?!" Vivian asked.
"I don't see anything besides the rock!"
"Let's check it for a moment!"
Thabit thought about it for a moment before finally deciding. He pulled the reins and ordered Loro to descend. And when they finally descended, Vivian immediately jumped off a couple of feet away from Thabit and Loro.
[Greater Origin Transformation].
Blaaak!
Her eyes transformed into a demonic form and she swept her gaze around.
"Sister Inquisitor Gela, what is it? Did you find it?" Thabit, who remained on Loro's back, asked.
Vivian slowly turned to him with a smile.
"Yes, there's no one."
A confused look appeared on Thabit's face.
"There's no one?"
"There's no one to see it."
[Mana Tail].
A 5-meter-long demonic tail made out of blue mana appeared on her lower back.
[Greater Origin Enchant].
Dark red lightning appeared on her Mana Tail.
[Explosive Tail].
BOOOM!
Thabit and Loro turned into a mist of blood and dust and a crater with a diameter of 4 meters appeared from where they stood.
Vivian let out a sigh as she deactivated her [Mana Tail].
"What a very long and chaotic night -- and morning."
Vooom!
