Chapter 271: Sky Island Development
Chapter 271: Sky Island Development
"Peach Peach Fruit induces a poisoned state when consumed... Is this effect reversed somehow?" Naoki plucked a soft, plump, and juicy Peach Peach Fruit, its pinkish hues enticing.
The sweet aroma of peaches wafted towards him, but sadly, this tree fruit was poisonous. Poison-type Pokemon would surely relish it, but there weren't any such Pokemon at the ranch at the moment.
Having accomplished his goal for this trip, Naoki prepared to return to the ranch and make a special trip to town to purchase flowers and saplings for planting.
He turned to Giratina and bid farewell: "It seems that your realm can support vegetation. However, I didn't bring many seeds this time, so I'll have to make another trip back to the ranch."
Giratina, the Rampaging Dragon of Destruction, stared at him quietly. After a moment, it nodded its head and let out an unintelligible roar.
A flash of violet light signaled the opening of the portal to the real world.
Naoki mounted his Corphish and, alongside Diglett and Lopunny, departed from this mysterious place.
Upon his return to the ranch, Naoki's first order of business was to rush to Wayborn Town on his Corphish and visit Eiro's seed shop to purchase grass seeds, flower seeds, and tree saplings.
Eiro was surprised to see Naoki buying so many things at once:
"It's not really the season to plant these, is it? It'll snow in a few days, and these young plants will freeze to death!"
Naoki shook his head with a smile: "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. These saplings are destined for a warmer location, and I assure you they won't freeze."
A warmer location? Eiro then recalled that some farms built greenhouses, enabling them to grow plants all year round.
"Alright then!" Eiro's face lit up with a smile. Then, remembering a new batch of crops he had in stock, he asked, "By the way, I just got some tea seedlings in. They're perfect for growing in a greenhouse!"
"Tea seedlings?" Naoki was intrigued.
Eiro nodded enthusiastically: "Yes! Once the tea plants grow, you can pluck the leaves and make delicious green tea!"
Naoki considered the idea carefully and decided it would be nice to have some in the World of Destruction. "Sure, let's give it a try. Give me twenty plants to start with."
"Will do!"
Eiro grinned and, after transferring all the tea seedlings, inquired further:
"Oh, and the store recently got some apple trees from Beijiao Village. Their apples are famous for being large and round. Would you like a few trees? Planting them at the ranch might even attract Pokemon like Munchlax!"
Apple trees? Since he had already bought so much, Naoki figured he might as well add some apple trees to his collection.
With such a large purchase, the store offered delivery service, so Naoki didn't have to worry about transporting everything himself and overloading his Corphish.
However, before leaving, he couldn't resist asking about Beijiao Village: "Are apples from Beijiao Village famous?"
Before his transmigration, Naoki hadn't heard any news about Beijiao Village, so he was curious about this place.
Eiro nodded with a smile: "Yes! Their apples are renowned throughout all of Padia. The people of Beijiao Village lead simple lives, farming rice and living in harmony with nature. It's a very rustic and charming agrarian town."
"I see..." Naoki's interest in Beijiao Village piqued, and he thought that perhaps after things settled down at the ranch, he could visit the village with a few of his Pokemon for an agricultural exchange.
After purchasing everything he needed, Naoki returned to the ranch on his Corphish.
Soon after, Eiro's store sent over all the seeds and saplings he had bought.
Standing by the lake, Naoki watched as violet light flickered, and the portal to the Reverse World was automatically opened by Giratina.
Naoki tossed in the seeds and saplings one by one before jumping through the portal with Diglett and Lopunny.
Giratina had been patiently waiting for them.
It gazed at Naoki, neither raging nor exuding the same violent aura as before, its dangerous gaze fixed upon him.
This legendary Shadow World Pokemon, the Renegade Pokemon, simply watched Naoki silently, observing the items he had brought from the outside world.
To be precise, it was searching for something that could reverse its temperament.
Without that, it had no idea how to communicate with this human.
However, Giratina scanned the items in vain, unable to find what it sought.
It felt puzzled. Why wasn't the human using that ability on it anymore?
Seeing that Naoki truly hadn't brought that item, Giratina pondered for a moment. The food it had eaten earlier should still be effective, right?
Thus, Giratina decided to continue pretending that the food hadn't expired. A terrifying smile spread across its already fearsome face.
"That's right," Naoki nodded, his gaze drifting to the floating islands in the void. "But the land distribution in this world is chaotic, and they can't come together to form a complete continent, so I have to plant them one island at a time."
"Then I'll leave it to you." Giratina felt it was getting better at communicating. In the end, it added shyly, "Thank you, human. I will remember everything you've done for me."
Naoki: "..."
Did Giratina still think the effects of the cooking were ongoing?
Oh dear, this was embarrassing! If he pointed it out, Giratina might get angry and lash out with its claws.
After a moment's thought, Naoki decided to pretend he hadn't noticed anything.
He rode Corphish to the empty island where he had just planted the Peach Peach trees and buried a layer of grass seeds in the soil that Diglett had turned over.
Then, Lopunny activated her ability.
In the next second, the broken island was covered in greenery, transformed into a vibrant landscape.
The first empty island was complete.
Naoki named it the 'Initial Island' and looked around, his gaze settling on another large island above with a waterfall.
"Let's go there!" He mounted his Corphish.
"Agassi!"
With a light leap, Corphish carried Naoki to the other island.
Naoki first observed the terrain and then said to Diglett, "I'll leave this one to you too!"
"Chy!" Diglett chirped happily and continued to work on the island's construction.
For this island, Naoki planned to turn it into an Apple Island, filled with apple trees bearing large, red apples.
If Giratina felt peckish, it could come to this island and eat an apple.
The island's waterfall flowed upwards, creating a clear pool on the island.
The rippling water reflected the image of the real world.
Naoki looked at the water's surface, thinking that this was how Giratina spied on the real world.
What did it look at?
The sunlight, flowers, and trees of the real world? And what went through Giratina's mind when it saw these things?
Naoki looked at Giratina and saw it staring innocently at Diglett as it tilled the soil.
Naoki couldn't help but smile. From a certain perspective, Giratina, a legendary Pokemon living in isolation, probably had the cognition and experiences of a human child. So, it would be curious about Diglett's soil turning.
Soon, Diglett had this island prepared as well.
Naoki and Corphish brought over apple saplings and planted them across the island, then sprinkled grass and flower seeds on the soil.
Finally, Lopunny activated her ability once more.
With their combined efforts, in the blink of an eye, the island was transformed.
From its previous dilapidated state, it now bustled with greenery and vitality.
The entire island's ground was covered in green grass, with small yellow flowers blooming among the blades.
Sturdy apple trees formed a lush orchard, their branches laden with large, round, red apples.
Naoki looked down and information about the apples appeared in his mind.
[Sweet Apples: Delicious sweet apples. Affected by Lopunny's power, any unpleasant traits have been removed, leaving only a delightful flavor that brings happiness.]
[Apple Tree (Eternal)
: An ordinary apple tree. Affected by antimatter, it maintains this form forever, neither withering nor aging.]
"As expected, the apple trees in the Reverse World also maintain an eternal state," Naoki murmured.
He walked forward, plucked a few red apples, gave one to Lopunny, tossed one to Giratina, and then fed one to Corphish and Diglett by hand.
The tossed apple was unaffected by gravity and slowly floated towards Giratina.
Giratina gazed at the bright red apple, then opened its mouth and stretched out its head to swallow the fruit whole.
The next second, it experienced an explosion of sweet and juicy flavors in its mouth.
Giratina's eyes lit up, and its voice was filled with delight, "Delicious!"
"I'm glad you like it," Naoki smiled gently.
Just then, not far away, Diglett, who had finished eating an apple, suddenly let out a confused chirp as if it had discovered something unexpected.
This is...
Naoki paused for a moment, and the next second, information about the mushroom appeared in his mind.
[Doomshroom: A special ingredient, a mushroom that grows in dark and damp corners, filled with destructive power and antimatter. It can be used for cooking, and if brought to the real world...]
What? Looking at the pitch-black mushroom, Naoki suddenly felt that it resembled the Doomshroom from Plants vs. Zombies.
Oh no, I hope it doesn't explode!
Reuniclus and Golurk were also attracted by the mushroom.
With just a glance, Reuniclus saw through the mushroom's essence: "I sense that the power within that mushroom shares the same origin as this place."
"Let's make mushroom soup with it later." Naoki walked over, plucked it, and kept it safely. Based on his past experience, this mushroom might be useful for creating a powerful dish.
None of the Pokemon objected.
Giratina didn't care about such things, and moreover, since Naoki was currently helping it transform its realm, even if Naoki asked for an entire island, it would agree without hesitation.
Giratina regarded Naoki as a little brother and had made up its mind—from now on, it would take care of this human!
After completing the construction of the second empty island, Naoki looked at the exhausted Diglett, panting for breath, and decided to take a short break.
The task of transforming the Reverse World was indeed massive, and they were in no rush, so they might as well take it slow; after all, they had plenty of time.
When Naoki conveyed this idea to Giratina, it readily agreed and opened the portal to the real world for them.
"See you later, then!"
Naoki waved goodbye to Giratina and, carrying the Doomshroom, returned to the ranch.
However, Naoki had barely taken two steps when he suddenly felt the Doomshroom in his hand growing hotter and hotter.
A sense of foreboding rose within him, and his heart skipped a beat. Hurriedly, he threw the Doomshroom away.
The next second, the mushroom, now in mid-air, exploded with a loud "Boom!"
Golurk was startled and thought danger was approaching, so it stood protectively in front of Naoki.
"Holy moly!"
Naoki was bewildered. What was going on? After the explosion, the Doomshroom in mid-air completely vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed.
Reuniclus, who was nearby, used its psychic powers to sense the surroundings and then spoke thoughtfully:
"I sense that two completely opposite forces collided and neutralized each other, after which, the mushroom's essence disappeared."
Hearing this, Naoki was taken aback.
He immediately recalled the description of the Doomshroom—a mushroom filled with destructive power and antimatter.
Could it be that the explosion occurred because the antimatter of the Reverse World collided with the matter of the real world, resulting in annihilation?
How bizarre! Then how was he supposed to use the Doomshroom for cooking?
The moment this question popped into Naoki's mind, he had an answer.
He could simply cook in the Reverse World and not bring the mushroom to the real world!
But was it really safe to consume this kind of mushroom?
As Naoki pondered, he walked toward the ranch house.
It was now ten o'clock in the morning. The Dragonites had already delivered the goods and returned to the ranch, sitting under a tree and enjoying their Poke Blocks.
At that moment, Naoki noticed something unusual about the number of Dragonites in the ranch.
"One, two, three, four... four Dragonites?! How did an extra Dragonite appear?" Naoki was perplexed.
Could it be that some of the Hakutons had evolved into Dragonites?
Seeing this, Naoki wanted to go over and check, but before he could get close, he saw his Dragonite standing in front of the unfamiliar Dragonite, scolding it with its claws outstretched.
"Roar! Roar! Roar! (Who told you to come over here? This isn't the place for you; quickly go back to Dragonite Island!)
"
The naive-looking Dragonite, still appearing somewhat juvenile, didn't turn back. It continued to stare longingly at the Poke Blocks in the hands of the other two Dragonites, drooling profusely.
"Roar! (It's so fragrant, I want to eat some too, share a piece with me!)
" The two Dragonites who were eating looked at each other and turned away, hugging their Poke Blocks possessively.
"Roar! (No way!)
" They had earned these treats through hard work, so they weren't about to share with another Dragonite.
"Roar? (Work?)
" The young Dragonite looked confused.
The two working Dragonites nodded, "Roar! (If you want to eat, then go work for it yourself!)
"
