Chapter 270: I'm an Innocent Civilian, Really
Chapter 270: I'm an Innocent Civilian, Really
"You actually know about Whitebeard?"
"Of course! Although I couldn't witness that war personally, I've seen newspaper reports. And the Alliance Chief Officer was there the whole time—what he says must be absolutely accurate."
The pirate said smugly.
Then, he froze in shock because that voice didn't seem to come from nearby—it came from...
He raised his head. In the Sky above, three figures cloaked in Navy-hooded capes gazed down at the square below.
One floated midair, while the other two stood on either side, balancing atop Black Guns.
"My point is, you savages who only know burning and killing… do you even deserve to speak Whitebeard's name? He was an existence from an entirely different realm than you pirates."
Kuro stood with arms crossed, his gaze icy.
"Navy!"
The pirates drew their weapons, aiming sharply upward at Kuro.
"Navy forces are here! Everyone, stay alert!"
At the roar of one pirate, dozens more erupted from buildings, swarming into the plaza and streets.
"Prepare for battle! This is just another Navy wave—we've driven off plenty before!"
"Pirates like us have handled Navy forces many times!"
The pirates jeered, clearly unafraid. They had extensive experience dealing with such situations.
Inside the town tavern, a pirate burst in shouting:
"Quickly! Officer Johannes, Navy forces have arrived!"
Inside the tavern, a dozen elite pirates feasted and drank. At one table sat a lone figure in a black tuxedo and top hat. Under his eyes was a tattoo of a five-pointed star.
"Calm down."
Johannes, who had a clear view of the gathering pirates outside, raised his hand. With a flick of his finger, a white dove abruptly materialized in his palm. The dove flapped its wings and landed gently in the startled pirate’s hands.
The pirate swallowed hard, too terrified to move.
"They're like this dove—already trapped in our grasp, unable to escape. Now go. Don't interrupt my entertainment."
"Yes, Officer Johannes!"
The pirate obeyed, cradling the dove as he exited.
On Pegasus Island, besides the alliance of various pirate crews, the largest force was the Pirate Alliance itself. Johannes was a high-ranking officer within this formidable organization.
With him overseeing matters, a few Navy soldiers were nothing to worry about.
"How amusing. They dare send Navy here after all the lessons they've already learned..."
Johannes chuckled. "After this, I'll destroy another two Marine Bases just for fun."
Outside, the pirates waited, but no further Navy assault came—only the three figures floating in the Sky.
"What's going on? Where's the Navy?"
They'd prepared to fight, yet no one appeared. Confusion spread among the pirates.
"Didn't you say Navy?"
Kuro descended onto a nearby structure's rooftop, staring down at them. "Three of us are more than enough."
He waved his hand. With a whizz, the two Black Guns beneath Lida and Klah shot forward like lightning, smashing into the pirate ranks.
Boom!
Like skewered fish, the Black Guns impaled multiple pirates before embedding themselves into nearby buildings.
"Come on, you trash!" Kuro's pupils gleamed with brutality.
Lida transformed midair into her female form, her legs lashing out. "Calm Step!"
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A flurry of blue slashes filled the plaza, striking the gathering pirates. Blood sprayed as howls of agony erupted—all within a heartbeat.
Klah slammed heavily onto the ground, his body bristling with black fur like steel needles. He transformed into a werewolf's hybrid form.
"Shave Slash."
A circular area erupted around him. Five radiant flashes expanded outward, carving five deep, bone-exposing wounds into every pirate within the circle.
In an instant, the dense crowd of pirates had two gaping holes torn through their ranks.
"Kill them! They're only three! Don't be afraid!"
A pirate raised his pistol, firing the first shot.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Rear ranks opened fire in unison. Bullets formed an iron curtain, surging toward Lida and Klah.
"Nailsfist Technique!"
Lida had just landed. She thrust her fist forward, unleashing air currents like nails that detonated the incoming bullets midair, dispersing them.
"Iron Body!"
Klah stood firm, letting the bullets ricochet harmlessly off his body with metallic clangs.
"Let me handle this!"
A pirate hefted a heavy cannon, firing a cannonball. It exploded against Klah's chest, engulfing him in smoke. Then a hand emerged from the cloud, sweeping the smoke aside.
Still in hybrid form, Klah grinned maniacally. "Boxer shorts! Powerful body! Endless energy! Flawless unarmed combat techniques! I'm so high right now!"
"This guy..."
Lida glanced at him, disgusted. Ever since he ate that Devil Fruit, he'd been getting more obnoxious by the day. Side effects?
"Monster!"
Pirates recoiled in fear. This glasses-wearing freak was a genuine monster!
"Call Officer Johannes! The Pirate Alliance's commander is here!"
"Right! We have countermeasures—Officer Johannes!"
"Officer Johannes! Officer Johannes!"
The pirates roared toward the tavern, their panic making Kuro's expression darken from above.
"To slow..." He raised his hand, pressing downward.
Meanwhile, Johannes stood up amidst the commotion. From his vantage point, he watched Lida and Klah's performance outside.
Unfazed, he smirked. "A Devil Fruit user with strong martial arts? Useless against me—'Magician' Johannes."
His nickname in West Blue was "Magician." As for the more famous 'Magician' Hawkins? He refused to acknowledge it.
"When the Alliance Chief unites these pirates and advances into the Grand Line, I'll make Hawkins recognize who the true 'Magician' is."
Whoosh!
He removed his top hat, brushed it off, and replaced it. His body scattered into crows, reforming at the tavern entrance.
"Now, let me handle you Navy pests."
With a confident smile, Johannes stepped outside. At that very moment, the Sky suddenly darkened.
Johannes looked up. His smile froze. He stood paralyzed—neither moving nor speaking.
After a long silence, he gazed at the figure on the rooftop, a godlike presence above, and said:
"I'm an innocent civilian. Really."
Above the Sky, countless weapons rained down—a storm of gleaming Black Guns pointing like divine retribution at the entire town!
Alright, delaying by another day. These past few days have been exhausting. I'll take a nap and continue after waking up.
