Chapter 270: Capturing Sirius Black
Chapter 270: Capturing Sirius Black
The Black Dog, or rather Sirius Black, realized at this moment that something was off about the grayish-white owl.
Already on edge from the pursuit, Sirius immediately became cautious. As an Animagus, he would not take any unusual behavior from an animal lightly.
The Black Dog bared its teeth and growled at Ivan, but it did not dare move recklessly.
Because Harry was there, he was unsure if the other party would harm his godson.
However, from Harry's perspective, the Black Dog seemed ready to pounce and tear him apart. Harry frantically pulled out his Wand, pointing it at the dog and recalling the spells he had learned.
Sirius realized this and inwardly cursed. He gritted his teeth and suddenly ran off. He was gambling that the other Animagus was after him, and was merely waiting for him near Harry, without any intention to harm Harry.
After running for a while, Sirius turned his head and, as expected, saw the owl chasing after him. While he breathed a sigh of relief for Harry, Sirius also understood that he was in grave danger. He immediately lowered his head and sprinted as fast as he could.
Ivan, transformed into an owl, quickly followed. With his aerial view, he was not worried about losing track of Sirius. Moreover, he was not alone.
The Black Dog ran at an astonishing speed, weaving through the alleys, heading deeper and deeper. Suddenly, a House-Elf appeared at the end of the alley, blocking his path.
"Stop right there, big Black Dog!" Dobby shrieked, extending his right hand, and a blinding red light shot from his fingertip.
Sirius's pupils constricted. He hadn't expected a House-Elf to be part of the pursuit team. It was too late to turn back now.
He leaped, landing on the wall of the alley, then twisted his body to dodge another spell from Dobby. Using the wall for leverage, he jumped over a two-meter-high wall and disappeared into another alley in an instant.
Not bad!
Ivan, observing from above, thought to himself.
Looks like this guy is pretty competent!
Ivan increased his speed and swooped down. It seemed he couldn't just watch anymore.
Sirius also noticed Ivan's approach. After running a few steps, he transformed back into his human form and grabbed a nearby trash can, throwing it at Ivan.
Ivan flapped his wings, ascending to avoid the flying debris, then accelerated towards Sirius again.
Without a Wand, Sirius couldn't perform many effective attacks, especially since he hadn't eaten in a long time and his strength was limited. The earlier run had already drained him considerably.
Dobby had already Apparated behind him, blocking his escape route, and cast another spell.
However, Ivan didn't give him that chance. In his Animagus form, he used the Blood Magic, Basilisk Eye!
A vertical, orange-yellow pupil appeared in one of the owl's eyes. As soon as Sirius made eye contact, he was instantly petrified and fell to the ground.
After a period of intense practice, Ivan had mastered this Blood Magic and could control the power of the snake eye well, so he wasn't worried about killing Sirius.
This unique Blood Magic only required a pair of eyes to use. Combined with the secrecy of the Animagus form, it was enough to render an enemy helpless before they even realized what was happening.
The grayish-white Owl landed gracefully and instantly transformed into Ivan. He glanced at the petrified and stiff body of Sirius Black and spoke.
"Dobby, let's take him back."
Dobby approached, gripping Sirius Black's arm while looking at Ivan with great reverence. It had only seen Ivan's transformed Owl flap its wings a few times, and then the previously lively Sirius Black had fallen as if struck by a Petrification Charm.
Too terrifying.
Dobby shook its head, quickly dispelling the thought. It then grabbed the arm Ivan offered and performed Apparition, and the three vanished from the spot.
Back at the hideout in Knockturn Alley, Ivan retrieved a dark-colored potion from his room.
This was a special potion made from Mandrake roots, capable of reversing the petrifying effects of a Basilisk Eye. After obtaining the blood magic Basilisk Eye, Ivan had brewed some to have on hand in case of emergencies.
Ivan administered the potion to Sirius Black, then put the vial away and returned to the table to continue his research on potion improvements, waiting for Sirius Black to regain consciousness.
As he turned, Sirius Black suddenly opened his eyes and leaped up, moving with lightning speed!
But he crashed to the ground, his limbs still stiff.
Dobby was startled and watched Sirius Black warily, the tip of its right index finger glowing with magical light, ready to strike if the other made any sudden moves!
Ivan, however, was not surprised. He didn't even turn around, his voice slightly hoarse.
"Stop struggling. The potion needs more time to fully reverse the petrification. You can't even stand right now."
Sirius Black struggled to prop himself up, his eyes fixed on Ivan, his face filled with disbelief. He hadn't expected to be captured not by Aurors, but by a boy no older than thirteen or fourteen.
Feeling the heavy weight of his limbs and the dizziness in his head, Sirius Black wisely abandoned the idea of direct confrontation for the moment. He calmly surveyed his surroundings, looking for an escape opportunity.
It was clear that this was a dilapidated house, though it had been cleaned spotlessly. The lack of furniture and the cracks and holes in the walls were evident.
What caught his attention most were the lifelike animal statues on the balcony, mostly rats, snakes, and lizards.
Sirius Black narrowed his eyes, recalling the pair of orange-yellow eyes he had seen before losing consciousness, and the stiffness in his body. He felt a chill run down his spine.
Those were probably not statues but living creatures, likely petrified by a very special magic that could be released through eye contact.
Ivan ignored Sirius Black's movements and continued to improve the potion. He knew that without completing this, nothing else he did would matter.
Ivan tentatively added black silk powder to the cauldron, and soon, thick black smoke began to rise.
Another failure.
Ivan was frustrated, barely resisting the urge to destroy the cauldron. He recorded the data on paper and then turned to look at Sirius Black, speaking.
"Sirius Black?"
"It's me", Sirius Black snarled.
