Chapter 27: In Search of Tsunade
Chapter 27: In Search of Tsunade
"An S-rank secret technique, and one that deals with souls, no less. It's highly likely that Konoha's Scroll of Seals will have a record of it."
Yuyi Xuan Yue contemplated aloud.
The Scroll of Seals held by Konoha, of course, contained more than just the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique at the beginning.
A large scroll like that would undoubtedly contain numerous forbidden techniques.
Most of the contributions came from Tobirama Senju.
The weight of the other ninjas of Konoha could not be overlooked either.
"Should I just break into the Hokage's office and steal the Scroll of Seals?"
As soon as this thought crossed Yuyi Xuan Yue's mind, he dismissed it.
Although Konoha had suffered significant losses, its foundation as the first ninja village remained solid.
And he was no Uzumaki Naruto.
With his current level of power, attempting to steal the Scroll of Seals would likely result in his capture or death.
Fortunately, even if the path of obtaining the scroll was not feasible, there were other options.
"The Kato clan, I think I've heard of them before. They're quite insignificant, though, easily overlooked. Shouldn't Kato Dan have any descendants left? I think her name is Shizune?"
Yuyi Xuan Yue thought of the black-haired woman who had always been by Tsunade's side, the Fifth Hokage.
If he remembered correctly, Kato Dan should be Shizune's uncle.
Shizune's parents were also ninjas of Konoha, but like Kato Dan, they had perished in the war.
The orphaned Shizune was then taken in as Tsunade's disciple and later left the village with her.
"So, the Kato clan only has Shizune left," Yuyi Xuan Yue surmised.
Otherwise, given Tsunade's aversion to hassle, she wouldn't have taken the trouble to bring along such a young girl if there were any other elders in Shizune's family.
Although only one member remained, the clan's legacy would still be passed down.
Kato Dan's unique S-rank Spirit Transformation Technique would not only be recorded by the village but also likely inherited by Shizune, the sole descendant.
As for why Shizune never displayed this technique in the original story, some ninjutsu was not easily learned simply by obtaining a scroll.
Just as some people could effortlessly grasp the material in textbooks during their nine years of compulsory education, while others struggled no matter how hard they tried.
Obtaining an ultimate skill book didn't guarantee instant invincibility.
More likely, one might go mad or die while attempting to master it.
There was a high probability that Shizune possessed the Spirit Transformation Technique he needed.
Additionally, there was a chance that Tsunade, his ex-girlfriend, might know it as well.
Just as a poor boy might win the heart of a princess, and to bridge the gap between them, he might offer her his most precious treasure—in this case, the Spirit Transformation Technique.
With these dual possibilities in mind, Yuyi Xuan Yue decided to give it a shot, whether through force or persuasion, he would first try his luck with Tsunade and Shizune.
After all, finding them would be easy.
All he had to do was ask around at the various casinos and lenders, and he would soon have the information he needed.
Without the need for sleep, Yuyi Xuan Yue wasted no time. His figure flashed, and he disappeared from the Valley of God's Fall.
The mountain wind howled, and under the moonlight, the two towering statues remained silent, continuing their decades-long confrontation.
As Yuyi Xuan Yue set out in search of Tsunade, others with the same goal began their journey as well.
"Let's go!"
At the entrance of Konoha, Uzumaki Naruto, with his luggage on his back and the toad wallet he had painstakingly saved up, waved enthusiastically as he embarked on a journey to find Tsunade, accompanied by the perverted sage, Jiraiya.
At this point, he only knew that he needed to find someone who could heal Sasuke and the man with the thick eyebrows; he had no idea that the person they were seeking was the village's chosen Fifth Hokage.
However, Kabuto adjusted his round-framed glasses and looked at Orochimaru, who was standing helplessly by his side, confused. "Lord Orochimaru, how can you be sure that Lady Tsunade will treat your hands?"
As a rogue ninja of Konoha who had just killed the Third Hokage and caused significant damage to the village, Orochimaru was not likely to receive a warm welcome from Tsunade.
Orochimaru's lips curled up at the corners as he replied in a hoarse voice, "Because I will offer her a condition she can't refuse. The restoration of lost familial and romantic love, the two most beautiful emotions in the mortal world—who could deny such an offer?"
"I see," Kabuto said, his eyes shining behind his glasses.
Thinking of the opportunity to use Orochimaru's techniques as his master's hands, he echoed Orochimaru's sentiment, "The Reanimation Jutsu is indeed an unimaginable and magnificent technique!"
"Even the greatest techniques require careful execution," Orochimaru added, suddenly remembering the rogue ninja, Hagoromo Ootsutsuki, who had escaped his control. With a flash of insight, he asked, "Any news on Hagoromo?"
Kabuto shook his head. "None at all. However, we have discovered that Konoha, as well as ninjas from Cloud and Mist villages, are among the many forces investigating his movements."
Orochimaru was not surprised. Finding someone like Hagoromo, a wily survivor from the Warring States era, was never going to be easy once he went into hiding.
"Never mind. For now, finding Tsunade is our top priority," Orochimaru decided, gritting his teeth against the relentless pain in his arms. He cursed the old man in his mind and instructed, "Let's go, Tanzaku Gai!"
"Tanzaku Gai?"
In the back room of a casino, where the lively sounds of gambling could be heard outside, there were only cries of anguish within.
Hagoromo, disguised as an ordinary middle-aged man, was the only one standing. He skillfully stuffed bundles of cash into his pockets, looking down at the loan sharks who had once been fierce and intimidating but were now cowering in fear. Without an ounce of pity, he asked,
"You're saying that the legendary big spender is currently in Tanzaku Gai?"
"Yes, yes!"
The bruised and battered leader of the loan sharks dared not be insolent. He quickly nodded in agreement, his entire body aching.
"You're talking about the woman with the golden ponytail, green gambling robe, voluptuous figure, young and beautiful. She's undoubtedly the legendary big spender. She borrows from our company from time to time and still owes us fifty million ryo. We know her too well! Every year at this time, she'll head to Tanzaku Gai without fail, rain or shine."
"You should know that Tanzaku Gai boasts the largest and most luxurious casinos in the Fire Country, if not the entire ninja world! The big spender won't rest until she's spent at least a month there!"
