Chapter 269: Different Treatment
Chapter 269: Different Treatment
The underground classroom door opened and closed, leaving only Professor McGonagall and her two hapless students.
Her chest heaved violently, her gaze fixed on them like an angry eagle.
Finally, Ron broke the silence.
"Professor, was that a Phoenix just now?"
"Yes, it was a Phoenix!" Professor McGonagall seemed reluctant to elaborate, merely nodding and moving on.
"You should go to the school hospital, Weasley. Your eye is swollen."
"It's nothing." Ron quickly covered his eye. "Professor, did Professor Dumbledore say the Sorting was over when we arrived in the flying car?"
"Yes, it just finished..."
"Then where's my sister!" Ron asked anxiously.
"She's in Gryffindor as well."
Upon hearing Professor McGonagall's reply, Ron exclaimed, "Oh, that's wonderful!"
Although they didn't witness it, the outcome was still favorable.
However, when Gryffindor was mentioned, Harry seemed to suddenly recall something and hastily said, "Professor, we hadn't started school when we arrived in the flying car, so Gryffindor shouldn't be deducted points, right?"
Professor McGonagall gave him a stern look, but Harry noticed that her lips were no longer pursed as tightly.
...
...As it turned out, Harry's words did have an effect.
Professor McGonagall did not deduct points from Gryffindor.
Although they were confined to detention and had to eat in the underground classroom, it was still better than Harry had anticipated.
As Professor McGonagall had to return to the banquet, she soon left as well.
After the door was closed again, Ron whistled softly.
"What luck..." He picked up a sandwich that Professor McGonagall had brought. "It's just detention, much better than being expelled, and we didn't lose any points either."
"I think so too." Harry also grabbed a sandwich.
"By the way, how's your wand?"
"That's not my wand." Ron's mouth was stuffed with chicken and ham as he spoke indistinctly.
He took out a rubber-made black cod from his pocket and said, "This is a trick wand made by Fred and George. They probably wanted to prank me, so they swapped it with my wand."
"It's a good thing they did that." Harry smiled.
"Yeah... When we hit that tree, it almost broke in half." Ron put the black cod back into his pocket, feeling relieved.
"But we should be more careful from now on."
Harry took a sip of pumpkin juice. "I wish I could go to the banquet..."
"Professor McGonagall doesn't want us to show off," Ron said wisely. "She doesn't want others to think that arriving at school in a flying car is something to be proud of."
"But Kael gets to go to the banquet..."
"It's different. He was brought to school by a Phoenix, so it's worth showing off." Ron shrugged. "If it were me, I could brag about it for a whole year... Anyone would do the same."
"Are Phoenixes rare?" Harry asked.
"They are extremely rare, even rarer than dragons." Ron picked up another sandwich. "Many people never see them in their lifetime. I only saw one once on the Quidditch pitch, remember? It was during the suspended match."
Harry nodded...
He certainly remembered, and it left a deep impression.
As the two discussed Phoenixes, Kael was also brought to the Great Hall by Professor Dumbledore.
As soon as he entered, he eagerly made his way to the Hufflepuff table.
Severus Snape's expression was as unpleasant as Hagrid's rag throughout the journey. He was so uncomfortable under everyone's gaze.
By the time Kyle arrived, the banquet had already begun. But upon seeing him, everyone paused in their actions, and then suddenly, the hall became lively again.
However, there were whispers of buzzing in between.
Kyle paid no attention to them and headed straight to the Hufflepuff table.
Cedric helped him find a seat.
As soon as Kyle sat down, he eagerly asked, "Did you also come in a flying car like Potter?"
"What flying car?" Kyle muttered absentmindedly. "I wish it were true if it could be."
"It's no joke," Conna frowned. "That car crashed into the Whomping Willow outside the castle. They were almost flattened, it's said."

Hogwarts never had secrets. By the time the Sorting Hat finished, Harry and Ron's exploits were already common knowledge.
"It's all the same," Kyle muttered. "Whether it's the Whomping Willow or being a Bludger..."
"What Bludger..." Cedric scratched his head, not understanding what Kyle meant.
"Since you didn't ride in that car... How did you get here? Fred and George said you weren't home on the first day of school."
"It was Fang," Kyle explained. "Dumbledore's Phoenix. It brought me back to Hogwarts from Dorsetshire."
Then, Kyle briefly recounted his encounter with Newt, leaving those around him in a daze.
Wow, an unexpected visit from a Phoenix, a pregnant Poison Sac Panther, and then being Apparated back to school by the Phoenix... Kyle's experiences over the past two days were more exciting than the past two years combined.
"A Phoenix..." Cedric sighed. "That must have been amazing..."
Mikkel and Ryan, sitting nearby, nodded in agreement. They, too, wanted to experience such a legendary magical creature.
"Believe me, you wouldn't enjoy the feeling," Kyle waved his hand, speaking seriously.
He was still feeling uncomfortable, and despite the delicious food, he had little appetite. He ate a bit of pie and ordered a lemon water with double the usual amount of lemon juice.
The lemon water made by the house-elves was sour enough, but it wasn't bitter... It was slightly less effective.
Seeing Kyle's state, Cedric didn't mention the Phoenix again. Instead, he took out a piece of parchment and said, "We received the letter you sent during the holidays. This is the new map we made according to your method."
There was excitement in his voice, "It's much more complicated than last year's direct copy, but it's very popular... Fifty people have already placed orders with us."
"But the higher-priced customized maps will need your expertise, as we lack experience in that area."
"How many?" Kyle asked.
"Twenty-five," Cedric smiled. "Many more people bought these maps this year, and they all chose us."
Another batch of Galleons was added to Kyle's account, and his mood finally improved.
He turned to look at the Head Table and noticed that Professor McGonagall had returned. She was talking to Gilderoy Lockhart, who was dressed flamboyantly.
However, her expression was stern, and her lips were tightly pressed together, as if she wasn't pleased.
