Chapter 268: The Plan for Adventure and Seeking Help
Chapter 268: The Plan for Adventure and Seeking Help
"That night?" Ivan was quite taken aback. He did not expect it to end in such a dramatic way.
"Yes! That very night!" Headmaster Bohan confirmed, his expression quite pleased.
"The Aurors stormed in late at night, subduing those panicked Death Eaters, including my son, Dugard!"
Ivan could imagine how desperate Dugard must have felt, falling from the peak of his life to the depths of despair in an instant.
Perhaps there was also regret!
If Dugard had held out for a couple more days, he would not be a Death Eater awaiting trial, but a hero who resisted the Dark Lord!
However, there was no turning back, and this was the punishment for a traitor!
"Wasn't he imprisoned in Azkaban? Along with the other Death Eaters? Did you save him?" Ivan thought it must have been Headmaster Bohan who, out of pity, had protected Dugard.
But Bohan shook his head, his face stern.
"I wouldn't save a coward! Even if he were my son. But Dugard claimed he was under the Imperius Curse, and he didn't manage to kill any innocent people, so the court ultimately found him not guilty!"
"But I think these memories will be enough to make him live in eternal regret", Headmaster Bohan said coldly, as he knew very well that Dugard had not been under the Imperius Curse, which was why he felt so furious.
Ivan fell silent for a moment, then he looked down at the photograph, where the family of three were interacting warmly, and the young brown-haired Wizard was smiling at him.
Perhaps the son in Headmaster Bohan's heart only existed in his memory and in this photograph.
"I'm sorry to have disturbed you, Headmaster Bohan!" Ivan stood up, realizing there was no need for him to stay any longer.
Dobby promptly stepped forward and grabbed Ivan's arm.
With a snap of his fingers, the two figures vanished from Bohan's sight.
The spacious Headmaster's Office was now empty, with only one person left. After a long while, Bohan gently touched the photograph, his emotions complex.
On the other side, at the temporary base in Knockturn Alley.
The space distorted and ripped, and Dobby and Ivan appeared there.
Beside them, a cauldron bubbled with a potion, and some books were neatly arranged on the table, indicating that no one had been there.
Ivan watched the brewing Polyjuice Potion, which still needed some time to complete.
With the lead from Dugard cut off, Ivan had no choice but to take a risky plan to lure the attackers out.
However, this was extremely dangerous. Two days ago, nine Wizards had attacked the Dark Magic Shop, and they appeared to be ruthless and difficult to deal with.
Ivan was very clear about his own capabilities. In terms of regular combat, he was only slightly stronger than an ordinary Auror. His advantage lay in the enhancement provided by magical artifacts and the instant burst of power from his bloodline magic.
This allowed Ivan to have an edge when facing two or three ordinary adult Wizards.
If the enemies were stronger and more numerous, he would face the problem of excessive magical energy consumption.
Most crucially, his bloodline magic, Unicorn Shadow, was temporarily unusable. Whenever Ivan thought about happy things, he would think of Aisha, and then recall her death a few days ago, interrupting the formation of his Patronus.
The only thing Ivan could rely on was the newly acquired bloodline magic, Basilisk Eye!
Under the influence of anger and the desire to kill, the power of the snake eyes was greatly enhanced, replacing Unicorn Shadow and the six-hour reinforcement rune as his strongest trump card!
However, using it usually came with the risk of losing control.
Ivan needed to spend some time practicing and adapting, and it would be best to find a capable fighter as an ally.
Considering the missing werewolf and the Dugard who was hiding his true identity, Ivan no longer trusted his few close Auror friends.
What he wanted was someone he knew inside and out, and who could be easily controlled. In his memory, there was someone who soon met his requirements.
That was Sirius Black, who had escaped from Azkaban!
As a core member of the Order of the Phoenix, Sirius Black was brave, powerful, and had extensive combat experience. He was also an Animagus capable of transforming to hide.
Moreover, this guy had the most urgent desire—to kill the traitor Peter Pettigrew, and to meet his godson, Harry Potter.
This gave Ivan a strong assurance that Sirius Black would help him.
After all, he possessed the Marauder's Map, was a friend of Harry, and could easily get close to the rat Scabbers, the three factors that would serve as leverage to make Sirius comply.
After a long period of contemplation, Ivan opened his eyes and spoke to Dobby, who was standing beside him with drooping ears.
"Dobby, continue to monitor that Dark Magic Shop and the nearby dilapidated mansion. Also, bring me a copy of the Daily Prophet every day."
"Yes, sir!" Dobby enthusiastically patted his chest and then disappeared from the room.
Ivan himself sat down at the table, not caring that it was still the middle of the night. He picked up a book on Polyjuice Potion that Dobby had brought back earlier and began to read, not sparing any effort in using his academic points.
Before long, the notification of increased Potions proficiency rang in his mind.
Compared to finding the true culprit behind the scenes, Ivan was more eager to find a way to change the outcome of Aisha's death. Otherwise, his use of the Time Turner to return to the past would be meaningless.
If he remembered correctly, someone in the original timeline had already demonstrated how it should be done. The question was whether he could replicate that scene.
In the days that followed, Ivan studied day and night, only taking short naps when he could no longer keep his eyes open.
Amidst this frenzied study, he lost track of time. Then, the system notification in his mind sounded.
【Ding, your Potions proficiency has been upgraded, currently level 5 (6/3200)!】
However, Ivan showed no reaction, continuing to read the book, his eyes becoming increasingly bright.
He had an idea, but he needed to find an opportunity to test whether it was feasible.
"Sir, I think you need to rest", Dobby suggested cautiously.
Ivan ignored him, and Dobby sighed, handing him a copy of the Daily Prophet.
"This is today's Daily Prophet, sir!"
Ivan, who had been flipping through the book, stopped and turned to look.
The headline on the front page read:
Azkaban Prison's Most Evil and Dangerous Inmate—Sirius Black, Escaped Three Days Ago, Destination Unknown!
"Fake Moody, Harry", said Dumbledore, "see how simple and ingenious it is. Moody is known for only drinking from his own curved flask. Of course, the imposter needed to keep the real Moody nearby to continuously brew the potion. See his hair..." Dumbledore looked at the Moody in the box, "it has been cut for a year, and you can see the uneven parts. But I think our fake Moody might have been too excited tonight and forgot to take his potion on time... once an hour... we'll see."
