Chapter 266: The Disappeared Werewolf Wizard
Chapter 266: The Disappeared Werewolf Wizard
Ivan recalled the magical item that could reverse time, the Time Turner. Despite its usage having some limitations and being unable to change established facts, if calculated correctly, it might provide a chance to reverse everything.
The key was to find the mastermind behind the scenes and understand what exactly happened before that.
This renewed hope invigorated Ivan, and he began using the Dusting Charm to clean the chaotic Dark Magic Shop.
Under the influence of the spell, dust and broken wooden shelves were swept into the corners, and the bloodstains on the floor were gathered up.
The only things untouched were the bodies of the invaders. Ivan stepped closer to inspect them one by one, finding nothing but unfamiliar faces and no identifying marks on their bodies.
After memorizing their features, Ivan approached the Black-robed Wizard, grabbed his head, and examined it, only to release it in disappointment.
He was dead too!
Ivan sighed. If this Black-robed Wizard hadn't died, he might have been able to extract some information and leads about the mastermind from him.
Unfortunately, the Basilisk Eye had worked for the first time, with a direct-death effect.
Ivan speculated that the power of the snake's eye might be related to his emotional fluctuations. The stronger the killing intent, the more potent the direct-death effect, but it also made it harder to control.
Losing an important source of information left Ivan somewhat frustrated, but it didn't mean he had no other options.
Ivan pulled a tuft of hair from the Black-robed Wizard, then paused, thinking of something, and took a strand of Aisha's hair.
He then began dealing with the bodies of the invaders, sealing them and storing them in a separate room.
As for Aisha's body, Ivan used a Transfiguration Spell to create a coffin, placed her inside, and sealed it with a spell before carrying it to the Basement.
Carrying the coffin, Ivan walked through the Basement, his mood complex. He remembered the previous summer when he had followed Aisha here to learn about the creation of magical artifacts.
Looking at the workbench, he noticed a large number of magical items laid out, seemingly items that were usually displayed on the counter for sale.
Had Aisha anticipated an attack?
The thought flashed through Ivan's mind, but he didn't dwell on it. He sealed Aisha's coffin in a hidden place in the Basement and then sealed the entire Basement.
Having done all this, Ivan decisively left the Dark Magic Shop.
After the attack, the place was dangerous, and he had no interest in being a target. He needed to find some allies to help with his future plans, such as the werewolf Wizards.
However, when he arrived at the werewolf Wizards' base in the Eastern Ruins, Ivan found the situation even worse than he had imagined.
The place was empty, with cooking pots still simmering in the corners and scattered utensils on the ground.
Ivan's expression was grim as he muttered to himself.
"Who could have moved or eliminated all the werewolf Wizards here?"
He had ordered Fren and Walker to only contact Aisha and report any actions to him. Dugard was unlikely to have been able to mobilize them.
Two days later, in a dilapidated house in Knockturn Alley, Ivan was diligently brewing a Polyjuice Potion.
Suddenly, Ivan stopped his actions and looked ahead.
A short, ugly House-Elf appeared there, holding a stack of potion books.
"Sir, the books you need", Dobby carefully placed the books on the table.
Then Dobby looked at Ivan with longing, hesitating to speak. He keenly sensed that Ivan was in a very bad mood and wanted to ask, to help his new master alleviate his worries.
However, seeing Ivan's dark expression, Dobby did not have the courage to speak.
"How is the location you were asked to monitor?" Ivan turned his head, continuing to brew the Polyjuice Potion, his tone harsh.
"Everything is normal, sir! No suspicious individuals were found", Dobby reported.
Ivan nodded, somewhat disappointed.
Logically, the black-robed Wizards who attacked the Dark Magic Shop should have been completely wiped out, with no news leaking out. The mastermind behind the attack should have sent scouts to check the situation.
Considering this, he had dispatched Dobby to keep an eye on the place.
If he could capture one of their scouts, he could trace the thread and find out the details of the attack, locate, and kill the mastermind.
Unfortunately, the other party was more cautious than he had anticipated, or perhaps the scouts had already come and gone before he sent Dobby to monitor the location.
Ivan frowned, another lead lost. He then recalled the events of the past two days.
Filled with anger, Ivan was certain that Dugard knew something, and might even have been involved.
Ivan didn't know where this scoundrel was, but he could find someone who knew him!
"Dobby, prepare yourself. Take me to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries later", Ivan covered the cauldron he was brewing the potion in. The brewing of the Polyjuice Potion required time.
If he didn't find any leads on Dugard, Ivan would have to risk using the Polyjuice Potion to disguise himself as one of the deceased black-robed Wizards, or even Aisha, and go to crowded places like the Leaky Cauldron to lure out the mastermind's scouts and assassins.
This was why he had sealed the information and disposed of the intruders' bodies one by one.
"Yes, sir! Dobby is ready to take you! The former master once took Dobby there!" Dobby puffed out his chest, assuring him.
In the evening, at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, in a corner of the Headmaster's office, the space seemed to twist and tear.
In an instant, a large and a small figure appeared out of nowhere.
Ivan looked around. The room was spacious, with the Headmaster's office divided into two areas: a reception area for guests and a desk piled high with papers and documents.
The walls were adorned with various plaques and banners, including a prominent Order of Merlin.
"This is..." Ivan walked to the desk and picked up a frame from the corner, which contained a group photo.
In the center was a young brown-haired male Wizard, around his twenties, with a cheerful smile.
Ivan had seen his younger self in a photo on the wall of Dugard's mansion, and it was identical.
On either side of the young Dugard stood a middle-aged male Wizard and a middle-aged female Wizard, who appeared to be Headmaster Bohan and his wife.
