Chapter 265: Dark Mark
Chapter 265: Dark Mark
Not far from where Aisha had fallen, a black-robed wizard stood, holding a Wand. Ivan's rage had reached its peak, his black eyes automatically transforming into orange vertical slits!
Perhaps noticing Ivan's entrance, the wizard abruptly turned his head. But before he could do anything, he locked eyes with those snake-like eyes!
In that moment of eye contact, the black-robed wizard felt his body being sucked into those eyes, his soul drifting out, all thoughts and consciousness vanishing.
Thud~
The black-robed wizard's body fell straight to the ground, silent and still.
Ivan clutched his eyes, his magical energy drained by half, but he still forced himself to endure the discomfort and rushed to Aisha's side.
Noticing the blood slowly seeping from Aisha's back, Ivan panicked and lifted her, pressing his Wand against the mangled wound.
"Healing Wound!" Ivan shouted loudly.
Green light flickered at the tip of the Wand, and the magic quickly took effect, the wound gradually closing.
But Ivan couldn't feel any joy, for there was too much blood on the ground. He trembled slightly, using his fingers to check Aisha's breathing and heartbeat.
He felt nothing, and due to the excessive blood loss, Aisha's body was ice cold.
"No, no! There must be a way to save her. This is the wizarding world, not a Muggle hospital!" Ivan kept reassuring himself, thinking there was still time. He could have Dobby take Aisha to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
With this thought, Ivan called out into the dusty, ruined hall.
"Dobby!"
His slightly hoarse voice echoed, but no one responded.
Ivan punched the ground, remembering that Dobby was responsible for selling the last batch of magical materials today and wouldn't be with him.
"Damn it, where is St. Mungo's Hospital?" Ivan kept searching his memory.
He vaguely remembered the entrance was in a Muggle department store, far from here. Using normal means, he wouldn't make it in time.
Dugard!
Ivan suddenly thought of him. Dugard's mansion was nearby, and he was once the Deputy Head of St. Mungo's Hospital. He might have a way to save Aisha!
With this in mind, Ivan stood up and waved his Wand to levitate Aisha's body. He then carried her toward Dugard's mansion.
The street outside was empty, all doors and windows tightly shut. Ivan passed through a secluded alley, and Dugard's mansion came into view.
It seemed undisturbed, just as it usually was, with neglected trees and weeds around it.
Ivan pounded heavily on the door, then decided it was too slow and prepared to try an unlocking spell.
At that moment, the door opened.
Behind the door, Dugard still looked disheveled, his expression blank as he looked at Ivan.
"Headmaster Dugard, is there any way to save my mother?" Ivan urgently stepped aside, revealing Aisha's pale, lifeless, floating body.
Dugard's gaze shifted to Aisha, and after a moment, his expression was much calmer than Ivan had expected. He said,
"She is already dead!"
"I'm asking if there's any way to save her!" Ivan didn't argue with Dugard, but instead emphasized his words.
"No one can save a dead person!" Dugard looked at him deeply.
Ivan fell silent, sensing something was off with Dugard's reaction. His hand was already gripping his Wand.
Thud~
As they stood in tense silence, a faint sound came from upstairs.
"What was that?" Ivan didn't look up, his eyes still fixed on Dugard, the magical light flickering at the tip of his Wand, the Shield Charm already cast on himself.
"Maybe a cat, who knows?" Doctor said casually.
"I don’t recall you ever having one of those", Ivan’s vigilance reached its peak. He suspected that the Doctor in front of him wasn’t the real one.
However, at this moment, Ivan’s sharp eyes noticed the left hand that Doctor was using to hold the doorknob. On his wrist, there was a skull mark.
A winding snake crawled out of the skull’s mouth, forming an eight-character loop on his wrist.
Ivan shivered, and he spoke each word clearly.
"Dark Mark, you’re a Death Eater?!"
He suddenly understood why Doctor, as the Deputy Head, had been expelled from St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries and why he had almost been sent to Azkaban.
This was the time when Voldemort had fallen.
Ivan realized that he had always underestimated the former Head, or perhaps he had never truly understood him.
"Does she know you’re a Death Eater?" Ivan’s eyes locked onto Doctor, and he asked coldly.
"Perhaps not", Doctor glanced at his wrist ambiguously. Today, he wasn’t wearing that peculiar robe with one long and one short sleeve, so he couldn’t hide the Dark Mark on his wrist.
Doctor’s attitude was like a lit fuse on a powder keg. Ivan’s anger had reached its peak, and his eyes subtly turned into orange vertical slits.
Noticing Ivan’s emotional change, a mocking smile appeared on Doctor’s lips. "I advise you not to waste your time with me. You’d be better off thinking about what you’ve done."
"Getting it out of you will be the same!" Ivan’s tone became even more hostile, and he was more certain that Doctor knew something. Instinctively, he tried to use Blood Magic, specifically the Unicorn Shadow.
But the white mist dispersed as soon as it appeared.
The Patronus Charm is a rare emotional spell that requires the caster’s happy emotions as a catalyst. However, Ivan found that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recall any happy moments.
Bang~
Taking advantage of the moment, Doctor’s left hand with the Dark Mark closed the door.
The next instant, an explosion sounded, and the door was blasted open!
Ivan walked in, and the hall was in disarray, littered with various bottles.
There was no sign of anyone, nor any traces of a struggle.
"Apparition?!" Ivan’s expression was grim. The only way someone could vanish from his sight so quickly was through Apparition.
Even so, Ivan still held a sliver of hope that Doctor might be hiding somewhere in the house, so he used the Blasting Curse to destroy the entire mansion.
In just a few minutes, Doctor’s residence was reduced to rubble.
After his outburst, Ivan looked at Aisha, who was floating beside him, eyes closed as if she were sleeping. He stood there in a daze for a long time.
Dimly, Ivan felt something wet sliding down his cheeks.
Is it raining again?
Ivan looked up, and the sky was overcast, with a bolt of lightning streaking across it.
A heavy rain began to pour.
Ivan tapped his Wand, creating a magical barrier to shield Aisha from the raindrops, then silently retraced his steps.
Large raindrops pounded against Ivan’s body, soaking his clothes, but he didn’t care. The cold rain helped him stay alert.
Countless thoughts swirled in Ivan’s mind as he entered the Dark Magic Shop.
Ivan waved his Wand to repair the damaged entrance. His thoughts had calmed down considerably, and he muttered to himself.
"There must still be a chance, as long as I can get that Time-Turner!"
