Chapter 263: Suppression
Chapter 263: Suppression
At Jiangnan University, in the grand hall, stood an imposing figure—Hao Renyi.
Just minutes ago, he had claimed to be unavailable, but now, he stood before them all.
Lu Wu glanced at Tie Xiong, who held Hao Renyi, and nodded.
"Your body seems more honest than your words, but you look a bit disheveled.
Tie Lao, let him go and let him tidy himself up."
"Okay!"
Tie Xiong nodded, and with a casual gesture, he threw Hao Renyi to the ground.
Hao Renyi scrambled to his feet, "Lu Wu, let me explain..."
"There's no need for excuses right now. What I want to discuss is the issue with your thirteen projects.
Immediately, have your people send me the documentation for those thirteen projects."
Lu Wu's assertiveness was undeniable.
Hao Renyi had no choice but to comply. He glanced at Tie Xiong beside him and, with a resigned expression, made a call to have the project documents delivered.
Since they were all within the school, the documents were readily available, and Hao Renyi had anticipated this, so the process was swift.
In less than ten minutes, the thirteen project documents were delivered.
Hao Renyi, no longer acting arrogant, humbly presented the documents, "Lu Wu, here are the documents for the thirteen projects."
"Read them out loud!"
"What?" Hao Renyi was taken aback but quickly recovered, "Alright, I'll read them!"
He opened the documents and began reading from the overview, detailing each project's research direction, duration, personnel involved, resources consumed, and final outcomes.
"For the thirteen projects, a total of 76 people were involved, with 752,000 credits invested over five years. Nine projects were successful, three failed, and one was still in progress.
Out of the successful projects, three had established partnerships with relevant companies and would exit the market within three years, gradually recovering the research and development costs."
Hao Renyi had indeed risen to the position of Dean of Academic Affairs.
While he might not excel in other areas, he was adept at managing appearances. At least, he seemed to have everything under control.
The students below, initially unaware of any issues, listened attentively, and even Lu Wu couldn't help but applaud at first.
"Well done, well done! To achieve this in just one day is impressive. Keep it up!"
"Keep it up?" Hao Renyi's expression changed.
"Yes, keep going. What you've read so far are just the results. I want to hear about the process.
Read your research logs."
"Lu Wu, that's inappropriate. These logs contain confidential information about the research projects..."
"Read!" Lu Wu's expression remained unchanged.
Hao Renyi shuddered but had no choice but to retrieve a research log and start reading.
It was evident that Hao Renyi had prepared for this, as the research logs were meticulously organized.
His reading of the logs sounded convincing, at least to the students below. However, to Lu Wu, it was all useless.
As Hao Renyi began reading, Lu Wu bombarded him with questions, one after another.
Within five minutes, Lu Wu had asked seven questions, covering material prices, specific operations, experimental results, and processes. Hao Renyi was left flustered and overwhelmed.
Even the pure Summoner students below could identify the issues in Hao Renyi's research logs.
These so-called research logs were entirely fabricated and had no connection to the actual projects.
Logically, Lu Wu should have stopped at this point.
But he didn't. He insisted that Hao Renyi read every word.
However, how could Hao Renyi possibly comply?
After reading for only ten minutes, realizing the futility of deception, even a fool would know he was lying. Hao Renyi halted.
"Keep reading! Why can't you continue? Fine, if you can't go on, let's move to the next topic. Where exactly did those credits go?"
Lu Wu cornered Hao Renyi, leaving him with no escape.
At this moment, Hao Renyi understood Lu Wu's determination.
Hao Renyi lowered his head, clenched his teeth, and his face contorted with rage.
"Alright, I admit it. These thirteen projects were never genuinely researched. They were merely a means for us to obtain funds from the students.
I admit it, and I report it. Every teacher on Lu Wu's list is guilty. Their research projects are all fake, and they were only used to extract funds from the students."
Hao Renyi's words were no longer surprising, but what he said next caught everyone off guard.
"But we had our reasons.
We were forced into this situation. Jiangnan University's finances are in dire straits. Teachers' salaries and research funds are in arrears every year, and we can barely make ends meet.
After all, we are someone's father, someone's son. We have our families to support.
It was out of desperation that we resorted to this."
As Hao Renyi spoke, the students in the hall were left in disbelief.
Lu Wu, too, felt a deep sense of pain and regret.
"It's not easy, Director Hao. You've endured so much. We, the tens of thousands of Jiangnan University students, have wronged you, forcing you to resort to embezzling millions of credits.
"It is we, the students of Jiangnan, who have wronged you!"
At this point, Hao Renyi no longer cared about the consequences. He was prepared to take drastic measures, having nothing left to lose.
There was no escape, no way to shirk responsibility.
The only solution now was to play his trump card.
"Fellow students, I, Hao Renyi, admit that my actions have wronged the school and all of you. As of today, I resign from my position as Dean of Academic Affairs at Jiangnan University."
"And me!"
"And me too!"
As Hao Renyi finished speaking, one by one, a chorus of resolute and resounding 'And me' echoed through the hall.
At that moment, the doors of the grand hall opened, and a group of teachers strode in with heads held high.
They entered in a line, one by one.
After over a hundred teachers took the stage, they all gathered behind Hao Renyi, their eyes gleaming with determination. In unison, they said, "We are willing to resign from Jiangnan University. We hope you, Governor Lu, will grant our request."
In a 6-9-1-8-1-3-7-2-5 version, there is no mistake!
Listen to their words and look at their united front.
Those who knew understood that these were corrupt officials confessing their crimes, while those who didn't might have thought they were sacrificing themselves for their ideals.
This was Hao Renyi's trump card.
Since you, Lu Wu, have no shame, there's no telling who will be targeted tomorrow after Hao Renyi today.
With this, their entire interest group would expose themselves, without Lu Wu having to dig them out.
They would turn the tables on Lu Wu.
"Governor Lu, we all submit our resignations to you. Give us a straight answer, will you accept or not?"
"Remember, it's all of us. We are one."
Hao Renyi's audacity knew no bounds.
He felt justified in his boldness, certain that Lu Wu wouldn't dare do anything to them.
If they were removed, Jiangnan University wouldn't even need to wait until next year's rankings; it would come to a halt tomorrow.
Lu Wu would never dare to touch them.
Lu Wu had no choice but to back down. With each step back Lu Wu took, they could push forward, forcing Lu Wu to acknowledge that the funds they had taken were rightfully theirs, fair and legal.
Once Lu Wu conceded, the matter would be put to rest, and Lu Wu could never pursue them again.
As for the future, wasn't the Jiangbei side already in contact with them? Even if they sided with Jiangbei, what could Lu Wu do? With a foolproof plan in mind, Hao Renyi returned without hesitation: "Governor Lu, will you accept our resignations or not? Give us a straight answer."
"Slap!"
Before Hao Renyi could finish his sentence, Lu Wu slapped him across the face, the crisp sound echoing through the hall.
Hao Renyi was left stunned, never expecting Lu Wu to be so bold at this moment.
The students below the stage were riled up.
Lu Wu, after delivering the slap, turned away from Hao Renyi and addressed the students.
"Just yesterday, Hao Renyi told me I was causing a ruckus and destroying Jiangnan University.
I didn't respond then, but now I will give him and everyone an answer."
"I will destroy Jiangnan University!"
"I will tear down this university infested with foul parasites!
Look at these people on stage, no, these parasites.
See these greedy leeches sucking the life out of Jiangnan University. Do you still not understand why our university has been weakening year after year?
It's not because we students aren't working hard, nor is it external pressure. It's because of them!"
"Should we keep them, allowing these parasites to linger, or should we cut them off, destroying this rotten school and rebuilding a new Jiangnan University?"
"Answer me!"
Lu Wu's call resonated with the students.
In the grand hall, every student's heart pounded with fervor. With blood boiling, they raised their arms and shouted, "Cut them off!"
"Cut them off!"
...
The deafening roar echoed once more, the collective will of the entire student body united as one.
This response, completely unexpected, left Hao Renyi and the others speechless.
Meanwhile, amidst the cheers, Lu Wu approached Hao Renyi and the others.
"Your resignation requests cannot be approved."
This news brought a brief moment of joy to Hao Renyi, but soon they plunged into deeper despair.
"You are suspected of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds. Since you have confessed, you are under arrest from this moment on."
As Lu Wu spoke, Tie Lao sprang into action.
A terrifying aura suppressed the hundred-plus people, forcing them to the ground.
Under Tie Lao's pressure, they had no choice but to submit. Their only options were to beg Lu Wu for mercy or threaten him.
Hao Zhijian chose the latter.
"Lu Wu, you will regret this. You will!
As for whether Jiangnan University will be destroyed, we shall see!"
