After Rogen and the others left, Liam quickly got up and tidied up. Ten minutes later, he was sitting at the dining table.
Having not eaten for three days, he was indeed starving. After a hearty meal, Liam began to discuss the details of creating the Puppet with Teacher Rogen. However, before they started talking, Rogen first called out the Puppet that had been hiding behind him.
“Weren’t you asking your brother why he hasn’t woken up? You were so concerned then, why are you shy now?”
At this, the small Puppet stepped out from behind Rogen and gave Liam a very ladylike curtsy. “Rose Crystal greets Big Brother.”
“Rose Crystal?” Liam asked, a bit puzzled.
“Yes, every child needs a name. Since you were in a coma, we had to name her. Alice came up with this name first.” Rogen replied. “Do you think it’s not good?”
“I think it’s very good,” Liam said, recalling his first thought when he saw the Puppet. He realized that naming wasn’t his strong suit, and Alice’s choice was better. Despite the name, Liam could sense the power of the world’s will in it.
What relieved Liam the most was that the Puppet called him "Big Brother" rather than "Dad." Being a single father was a very demanding role, and he wasn’t like Rogen, who had already been married. He wasn’t ready to raise a daughter on his own just yet.
Feeling Liam’s genuine affection, the Puppet named Rose Crystal walked over and sat on his shoulder, then quietly listened to their conversation while hugging Liam’s head.
“By the way, there’s something important I need to tell you. Each person can only create a maximum of seven such Puppets, because our soul can only be split into seven parts during the creation of a Puppet. If you continue to split it, all the Puppets will lose their sanity.” Rogen warned Liam with a serious expression.
“Seven times?” Liam suddenly remembered something important. “Why does this sound so much like Voldemort’s Horcruxes?” In the original story, counting Harry, Voldemort had made seven Horcruxes, splitting his soul seven times. Although Liam hadn’t read much of Rosary Maiden, he knew that Rogen eventually created seven Puppets. What was the connection between these two things? Could it just be a coincidence?
“Horcrux, what’s that?” Rogen asked curiously, as he hadn’t heard of it before. After Liam explained it, Rogen thought for a moment and said, “I think I know what you’re talking about. This is very similar to a type of magic that originated in ancient Egypt. You know about mummies, right?”
Liam nodded. Mummies were a significant part of many literary and cinematic works, and he was certainly familiar with them.
“In fact, mummies originally came from a method to avoid death. Someone invented a way to cut a small piece of their soul and create a Soul Vessel to store in a safe place. When they faced life-threatening situations, they could use this to regenerate. The Horcrux you mentioned is very similar to this Soul Vessel.” Rogen explained.
“In magical terms, the process of making mummies, where the stomach, intestines, liver, and lungs are placed in separate jars while the heart is left in the body, is actually a metaphor for creating a Soul Vessel. You can cut a part of your soul, but remember that the soul in your body is the most important. Never let the means become the end. Over time, ordinary people who couldn’t master magic also learned this method, but they only followed the literal steps, turning it into a famous method of preserving corpses.”
“If our two worlds have similar cultural backgrounds, then the Horcruxes that Voldemort created are essentially soul fragments used to make Soul Vessels.”
"But how does Voldemort claim that creating a Horcrux can keep him away from death?" Liam asked further, as Hogwarts didn't have a single book that mentioned Horcruxes. Since Professor Rogen had touched on something similar, Liam wanted to clarify to gain a better understanding of what a Horcrux really was.
"It's quite simple. On one hand, with a Soul Vessel, it's incredibly difficult to die from any fatal injuries. On the other hand, each Soul Vessel grants the owner a lifespan equivalent to their original body. If the person you mentioned created seven Horcruxes, it would mean they have eight times the lifespan of an ordinary person. Even for someone who has mastered Supernatural Power, living nearly 1,000 years is an extraordinarily long time. Of course, this is based on the conclusions drawn from my world, but from what I've observed, your world should be similar. However, if you could obtain a Horcrux sample, I could conduct a more detailed analysis."
After analyzing Voldemort's Horcruxes, Rogen continued, "But like the rules of the world, no matter how powerful an Extraordinary Being is, they can only divide their soul a maximum of seven times. According to the records of those who have created Soul Vessels, exceeding this number causes the person's self-awareness to disappear. Even if the soul still exists, they are no longer the same person."
Rogen paused to caution Liam.
"Moreover, when we create a Puppet and separate the soul, it's like trimming your nails or cutting your hair. It can be restored, and even if done multiple times, it only affects our creations, not us directly." As Rogen spoke, Liam felt Rose Crystal's grip on his head tighten slightly. However, Rogen didn't notice and continued.
"However, if one wants to ensure their survival by cutting their soul, the danger and complexity far exceed our methods of creating Puppets. It involves cutting the soul's main body, akin to an amputation surgery for a regular person. This can lead to irreversible issues with the damaged soul. Most importantly, the extended life achieved through this method is actually done by consuming the soul's inherent power, leading to the soul's complete disappearance. For an Extraordinary Being, the disappearance of the soul is extremely dangerous and worse than death itself."
"But I can't be entirely sure about how Horcruxes work in your world unless you can show me a sample." Rogen looked at Liam with a thirst for knowledge.
"I think I know where a Horcrux is. I'll bring it to you when I have the chance", Liam replied to Professor Rogen.
"Don't worry, I'm only interested in research. I would never use such a harmful method to the soul. After all, the pinnacle of Alchemy naturally grants immortality", Rogen assured Liam with a solemn promise.
Liam recalled Dumbledore's words from the original story: "Death is merely a great adventure." It seemed that the damage to the soul caused by Horcruxes was far more severe than he had imagined. Both Professor Rogen, who could touch the World's Essence, and the great Professor Dumbledore had emphasized the importance of the soul, indicating that recklessly cutting the soul would lead to significant problems.
"Alright, that's all I wanted to tell you. You must always remember the importance of the soul in your future life", Rogen concluded, standing up. As he reached the door, he turned back and said, "To celebrate the addition of a new member, I've decided to host a banquet for Rose Crystal tonight."
"Thank you, Professor!" Liam stood up to see Rogen off.
That evening, everyone had a great time. Three days later, when Liam felt that the injury to his soul had fully healed, he bid farewell to Professor Rogen and his daughters, and returned to the Multiverse General Store with Rose Crystal.
