Chapter 263: Rod vs. Mira, A Domestic Violence Scene
Chapter 263: Rod vs. Mira, A Domestic Violence Scene
Logically speaking, on the day when a confession is successful, the two people should go shopping, have a meal, watch a movie, or even play some... jokes.
In short, they should do these things to deepen their relationship.
But neither Rod nor Mira did any of that.
On the day they confirmed their relationship, they had a fight.
They even went to the lakeside to fight, worried that they might destroy the guild if they fought in the courtyard.
This was the first time Rod fought Mira. Usually, he fought with Elfman while Mira watched, acting as the referee and coach.
Now, the head coach was warming up, and the referee was about to get into the ring, which made Rod a bit uncomfortable.
However, it had to be said that Mira, wearing a sports bra, shorts, and sneakers with her hair tied up, looked very beautiful.
The downside was that it made it hard to keep one's eyes from wandering.
Mira gave him a playful glare, "Focus, I won't hold back."
"Alright," Rod was actually warming up properly, it was just that his eyes wouldn't behave, "Can you give me a hint about the prize for winning?"
"Hmm..." Mira was stretching, making a cute sound as her body formed beautiful curves.
After completing the stretch, she exhaled and smiled, "You're already confident you'll win the prize?"
"It's important to be confident. In any fight you can't afford to lose, no matter who the opponent is, you have to believe you can win."
Rod now understood the guild's brutes a bit better. Often, their confidence was a source of strength.
But Rod wasn't trying to become one of them. He just wanted to mentally prepare for important battles, not be blindly confident.
"Not bad, but let's see if you really win first," Mira got into a fighting stance, "Ready?"
From Rod's perspective, Mira's current posture had many flaws, almost like a criminal's excited punch.
But he knew that if a real criminal dared to approach, Mira would beat them so badly they wouldn't even recognize their own mother.
Unfortunately, he was now the one who had to be that criminal.
Rod cautiously stepped forward, using a left jab as a feint and a right hook as the real attack.
Mira easily defended against him, countering with a side kick.
Her leg, which looked pale and slender, revealed its true strength when Rod raised his arm to block it.
How could it be so powerful without even using Reception Magic?
This slight loss of balance was an opportunity for Mira, who rained punches down on him, forcing Rod into a defensive position, retreating step by step.
After taking a few solid hits, Rod began to use magic.
The hard shell of the Stone Beetle began to appear on various parts of his body, allowing him to withstand two punches and counterattack.
Attacking the face was out of the question, and the chest was also a bad choice, so he aimed for the shoulder and abdomen.
Mira had similar defensive measures. Her body felt soft on the outside but hard on the inside, so while his punches made her flinch a bit, they had no substantial effect.
Mira grabbed Rod's arm, twisted her body, and rammed her shoulder into his chest, throwing him away.
Rod felt a sharp pain in his chest and a dizzying spin, but he managed to adjust his posture to avoid landing awkwardly.
"You've become very proficient with Reception Magic and can integrate it flexibly into combat. That's great," Mira praised him, winking at him, "But don't underestimate me either."
Rod also confirmed that Mira wasn't just using Reception Magic; she had fully recovered in terms of strength, combat skills, and mindset.
This meant he didn't need to hold back as much.
He nodded, "Alright, but we agreed, no getting mad after the fight."
Mira replied, "Of course, you can treat me like Erza, Cana, and Mira-jean."
Rod smiled, "I can't do that, they're not as beautiful as you."
Mira touched her face, "Ah, sweet talk won't work either. I'm getting serious now."
Rod braced himself.
"Reception: Satan Soul!" Mira's body surged with the same daunting magic power as yesterday, and she gave a sinister smile, "Let's begin!"
"Reception: Azure Carved Magic Golem!"
Rod chose the golem form and clashed fists with Mira, the powerful force pushing him back uncontrollably.
Moreover, Mira's expression when she was serious was quite intimidating.
If he were to assess it, the destructive power and visual impact didn't seem as strong as Ragsas' move, but the strength was no less.
However, Ragsas' move was a small skill, while Mira's was an enhanced normal attack after transforming, making a direct comparison difficult.
After a few exchanges, Mira changed her strategy.
She flapped her wings, her figure appearing ghostlike to the side of Rod, and her leg, clad in burgundy boots, delivered a heavy kick to his shoulder.
Rod stumbled, just as he was about to grab her, her figure vanished and reappeared on the other side, landing a punch on his right chest.
As he turned, Mira was already behind him, using her full strength to collide with his back.
Rod flew forward, breaking through the guild's wall and landing in the courtyard.
He still couldn't avoid causing damage. Next time, they should find a more spacious place.
Rod vaguely remembered that the first time he received the golem form, Ragsas had also used his speed advantage against him.
Fortunately, while this form wasn't the fastest, it was very durable and could restore his magic power.
If Mira's attacks continued at the same intensity, Rod was confident he could wear her down.
Mira pursued him, and two small stone golems emerged from the ground, floating in the air and firing blue laser beams at her.
Azure Floating Cannons.
Mira dodged them nimbly, but the floating cannons were quite agile, though not as fast as she was.
After firing twice, she shattered them with a punch each.
"Reception: Crimson Mark Treant!"
A drawn-out battle was boring. A real man should win her head-on!
Punch!
The next punch was evenly matched, an invisible shockwave spreading from the collision of their fists, stirring up a fierce wind in the courtyard.
Since Mira had pounced from mid-air, the ground beneath Rod's feet cracked, and his feet sank in.
Red flames... were non-existent. Who would start a fight with their wife and end up with real injuries?
However, Mira was a bit dissatisfied, "Use that move, treat me like Natsu."
"Alright," Rod no longer held back, using the Ember Crown to exchange several blows with her quickly.
Red flames accompanied his attacks, and Mira's fists felt the sting, soon showing some scars.
Rod's wooden fists were also damaged but, under the catalysis of magic, regrew and healed quickly.
Mira used the same tactic she used against the golem, her figure flashing around Rod, landing continuous punches and kicks.
The treant's defense was inferior to the golem's, and Rod accumulated some injuries.
At one moment, Mira kicked Rod's back, but she couldn't retract her leg in time.
Because several tree vines had already wrapped around her calf.
Mira broke the vines with force, but Rod's fist had already landed on her.
"Ugh..." Mira clutched her abdomen and flew backward.
Just as Rod was worried about whether he had hit too hard, Mira stabilized herself in the air.
Her hands formed a calyx shape, and a dark, ominous sphere appeared between them, filled with terrifying magic power.
Rod's eyes widened, "Hey, hey, hey..."
How could she still use a wave attack?
Hum~
Boom!!!
