Chapter 262: You Are Even Greater Than Dobby Imagined!
Chapter 262: You Are Even Greater Than Dobby Imagined!
"Let's go, we need to visit the Forbidden Forest first!" Ivan described the location to Dobby.
Ivan remembered that there were still quite a few valuable items in the Acromantula's cave. Previously, they were too heavy to move, but now they could be transferred.
Dobby nodded, grabbed Ivan's wrist, and began to cast a spell.
A dizzying whirl, and when Ivan regained his senses, he was already standing next to the Acromantula's lair. In front of him was a pile of rubble, the result of two Blasting Curses.
"What are we doing here, sir?" Dobby looked around curiously. Apart from weeds and trees, there was nothing else.
"Can you use Apparition to take me inside that rubble?" Ivan pointed to the pile of rocks.
Dobby didn't fully understand Ivan's meaning, but he still complied. The two quickly Apparated into the cave.
Despite only a few days having passed, the place was already filled with a putrid stench. Piles of spider corpses still lay there.
Some of the Acromantula spiders were as large as cars, with no visible injuries, lying still as if they could wake up at any moment.
Dobby's eyes widened in terror as it moved closer to Ivan, clinging to his thigh and surveying the terrifying spider cave.
"Wh-where are we, sir?" Dobby asked, stammering.
"Let's go! Our target is deeper inside!" Ivan didn't answer and walked straight into the cave's interior.
Dobby followed in fear, holding onto the edge of Ivan's robe.
When they saw the long, motionless giant snake lying at the end of the cave, Dobby was even more frightened and let out a terrified scream.
"Good heavens, that's a Basilisk!"
Dobby panicked and grabbed Ivan's hand, ready to Apparate away. It had already figured out how the Acromantulas outside had died.
"It's a dead Basilisk!" Ivan interrupted Dobby, walking step by step to the front of the Basilisk.
Dobby froze, quickly catching up and realizing that the Basilisk's head had a massive wound, almost cutting it in half.
Near the Basilisk's corpse, Aragog's mountain-sized body lay there, a large hole piercing through it.
Dobby could tell that the same magic had killed both of them.
"Did you do this, sir? Did you kill the Basilisk and all those Acromantulas?" Dobby turned around, its tennis ball-sized eyes full of admiration as it looked at Ivan.
"You are even greater than Dobby imagined!" Dobby screamed loudly.
"I didn't hire you to flatter me. Get to work!" Ivan shook his head and continued.
"I'll cut the materials, and you'll use Apparition to transport them to the Room of Requirement. You know where it is, right?"
"Yes, sir, Dobby has seen you go in there before." Dobby nodded and then, as if injected with energy, started working enthusiastically.
Without even letting Ivan help, Dobby cut the remaining snake skin, pulled out all the teeth, packed the eyes, and dismembered the remaining Acromantula corpses into materials.
After plundering all the valuable items from the spider cave, Ivan left Dobby in charge of selling them and returned to his leisurely studies and life.
After over a month, as his proficiency in various spells steadily improved, Ivan also took time to research the counter-curse for Sectumsempra.
This lethal spell created by Snape had almost become his strongest offensive magic.
However, the lack of a counter-curse was a significant issue, meaning that using this spell could easily result in irreversible damage, making it impossible to use as a regular spell.
Ivan, of course, could not accept this!
Since Snape was able to create the Sectumsempra spell during his student days, Ivan believed that, with his mastery of the spell, he should also be able to develop a counter-curse.
Thus, taking advantage of the time before the end of the term, Ivan immersed himself in the study of counter-curses. After consulting numerous books on the subject and putting in countless hours of effort, he finally made some progress.
"Sectumsempra!"
Time flew by, and one afternoon after the exams in June, Ivan lightly waved his Wand, neatly slicing off a corner of the mahogany table.
Then, Ivan recited the counter-curse, placing his Wand at the cut. The table leg slowly returned to its original form.
"Finally, I've done it!" Looking at the repaired table, Ivan sighed in relief, confirming that his counter-curse had successfully eliminated the Sectumsempra spell's effect of preventing healing.
Feeling a bit tired after his hard work, Ivan sat down in a chair and snapped his fingers.
"Your tea, snacks, and today's Daily Prophet, sir!" Dobby promptly appeared, handing him a cup of tea and a newspaper.
Dobby then stood quietly by, waiting for further instructions.
Ivan took the tea and sipped it, eating a snack while flipping through the Daily Prophet, inwardly sighing at the corrupt lives of Wizarding nobility.
Of course, Ivan wasn't referring to himself. After all, he paid Dobby, making him different from those "slave owners."
Sipping his tea, Ivan scanned the Daily Prophet and nearly spat it out.
The front-page headline read, "Caring for Werewolves Starts with You and Me!"
The dynamic cover showed Dougtr, looking spirited, shaking hands warmly with several werewolf Wizards.
Wasn't this old man usually quite disdainful of werewolves? To boost his reputation, he was willing to sacrifice his dignity.
Ivan shook his head in exasperation, then glanced at the other sections. One part of the news was reporting on his receipt of the Order of Merlin.
However, the Award Ceremony had been over a month ago, and the buzz had largely died down.
Ivan wasn't particularly interested, preparing to fold the Daily Prophet and set it aside. Just then, a news title in the corner caught his attention.
"Former Deputy Head of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, Dougtr, Nearly Became an Azkaban Prisoner?"
Ivan was taken aback and read the headline again curiously.
After reading the entire news article, Ivan realized it was more of a gossip piece, with no solid evidence.
It vaguely mentioned that over a decade ago, Dougtr had almost been arrested and sent to Azkaban due to an incident, but somehow managed to escape punishment.
