Chapter 262: A Clue
Chapter 262: A Clue
Bald Monk relied on his agile movements to roam unhindered in Great Black Mountain without any restrictions. The reason he was captured was entirely due to the nauseating Water Prison Technique that completely suppressed his agility.
The practitioner of this technique possessed formidable spiritual sense and exquisite skill, acting with speed and precision.
Bald Monk thought that even if this person wasn't a Foundation Establishment cultivator, they must be a magistrate of the Dao Court, or perhaps an experienced spiritual master.
Instead of taking his life, this person repeatedly trapped him with the Water Prison Technique, toying with him like a cat playing with a mouse.
It was either due to a personal grudge or for the bounty offered by the Dao Court.
He had committed countless atrocities over the years and had accumulated innumerable karmic consequences. Anyone could have a reason to target him.
But he never imagined that the one manipulating him in the palm of their hand would turn out to be this little brat?!
Where did this little monster come from?
Bald Monk's gaze was filled with malice and disbelief.
Mo Hua smiled at him, "Now you know who I am?"
"I'll remember this," Bald Monk said as he stretched the corners of his mouth, revealing a bloody smile. "I'll remember your face. If I ever escape, I'll come back and kill you!"
Mo Hua remained unperturbed, "Once you're thrown into the Dao Prison and sentenced to death, forget about such fantasies and wait for your end peacefully."
"Even if I do escape by some chance, I'll be far away and out of your reach. Do you still dare to come back and find me? Are you asking for death?" Mo Hua's tone was indifferent, his eyes holding a hint of contempt.
Bald Monk flew into a rage, his face twitching, but he had no rebuttal.
Deep down, he knew that this brat was right.
He couldn't even escape this brat's grasp now, so it would only become more difficult in the future.
Moreover, in his impression, this brat possessed exceptional agility, was slippery as a loach, and had profound spiritual sense, along with the precise and bizarre Water Prison Technique.
It would be challenging to kill him, and even more so to escape from his clutches.
After some thought, Bald Monk sneered, "You came here to ask me something?"
"Yes," Mo Hua admitted frankly.
Bald Monk snorted, "I fell into your trap and want nothing more than to kill you. Now that I'm as good as dead, why would I answer your questions?"
Mo Hua shrugged it off, "I just want to humiliate you. If you don't want to answer, I can always find someone else."
"Oh, right," Mo Hua said as if he had just remembered something. "By then, I'll spread the word that the infamous Bald Monk, renowned and notorious, fell into the hands of a thirteen-year-old junior cultivator like me. I toyed with you using my techniques, and no matter how you scurried and hid, you couldn't escape..."
Bald Monk spat out a mouthful of blood, "You dare?!"
"What's there to be afraid of?"
"You're just asking for trouble. The Sin Cultivators will come after you for revenge," Bald Monk said through gritted teeth.
"You, a mighty Sin Cultivator, fell into my hands. How much more the other cultivators?" Mo Hua said.
Mo Hua's right hand formed a seal, conjuring the Water Prison, as he smiled, "Then I'll just wait for the fish to take the bait. Whoever comes will be captured, be it one or a pair. Anyone who dares to provoke me won't get away!"
Bald Monk clenched his teeth, "I'm as good as dead anyway..."
"Death doesn't mean the end," Mo Hua continued. "Think about it. If I spread the word, you'll become a laughingstock. The nearby Dao Courts, Demon Hunters, and even those Sin Cultivators will mock you for entertainment."
"They'll ridicule you, calling you a waste who fell into the hands of a child. They'll curse you for being stupid and having a pig's brain."
Bald Monk coughed up blood repeatedly.
Mo Hua sighed, "You see, even after death, one might not find peace. If you're cursed for doing evil, you might not care, but being cursed for stupidity and incompetence is something that's hard to bear..."
As Mo Hua spoke, his eyes lit up, "Oh, I forgot to tell you. There's a restaurant called Blissful Feast Tower in town, and there's a storyteller inside. I'll ask them to turn your story into a narrative and have the storyteller recite it every day..."
Bald Monk interrupted loudly, "Enough!" After a while, he conceded, "I'll talk..."
Mo Hua seemed reluctant to stop, "I haven't finished yet..."
Bald Monk said furiously, "Ask away! I'll tell you everything!"
He would rather die than become a joke for these miscellaneous cultivators to mock!
The few magistrates guarding Bald Monk were stunned, their eyes reflecting their shock as they looked at Mo Hua.
Others kill with knives, but you kill with your words...
When Mo Hua saw that Bald Monk had calmed down, he asked, "Was there a merchant selling pills among those you recently robbed?"
"Yes."
"How many pills were there?"
"Not many, just a few dozen bottles. They were trading in a variety of goods and weren't solely selling pills."
Mo Hua and Zhang Lan exchanged a glance, both surprised.
That caravan was indeed not robbed by Bald Monk.
"Then, do you know Kong Sheng?" Mo Hua asked further.
"Who's Kong Sheng?"
"The young master of the Kong family."
Bald Monk scoffed, "What good is the Kong family? Never heard of them."
Mo Hua was momentarily speechless. You Sin Cultivators and the Kong family are equally despicable; how dare you look down on each other...
"The young master of the Kong family may have died at the hands of your group of Sin Cultivators," Mo Hua said.
"So what?" Bald Monk replied nonchalantly.
"Didn't you have a deal with the Kong family?" Mo Hua inquired.
Bald Monk coughed, "We Sin Cultivators only follow orders from those who pay us in spirit stones. Whoever has the spirit stones calls the shots. Without spirit stones, who cares about the Kong family or their young master? If anyone displeases me, they get slaughtered."
Mo Hua nodded, understanding the situation, and then continued, "I have one last question. What place is marked on this map?"
Mo Hua took out the crudely drawn map from his storage bag and unfolded it in front of Bald Monk.
Bald Monk's eyes widened in shock as he exclaimed, "You found the secret compartment?"
"Yes."
Bald Monk muttered in disbelief, "How is that possible...?"
"Why not?" Mo Hua asked, puzzled. "The secret compartment wasn't even that well-hidden."
"There's an array outside the cave where the compartment is hidden..." Bald Monk explained.
"I dismantled that array myself," Mo Hua said nonchalantly.
Bald Monk's expression twisted as if he were about to spit blood. "How are you also an array master?! Are you trying to drive me insane?"
Then it dawned on him. No wonder his spiritual sense was so strong. All the arrays he had encountered were set up by this little brat himself.
Mo Hua glared at Bald Monk, his face cold. He was thinking that if Bald Monk dared to curse again, he would draw out his Thousand-Catty Stick and smash his mouth to pieces!
Bald Monk didn't dare to utter another curse. His eyes twitched, and his expression gradually turned despondent.
The cave had been discovered, and all the treasures he had accumulated over decades of killing and plundering were now gone. Even if he managed to escape by some miracle, he would be left with nothing.
Mo Hua waved the map in his hand and asked, "Are you ready to talk now?"
Bald Monk had completely lost hope. At this point, there was nothing left to hide.
With a sigh, Bald Monk explained, "This map belonged to a good brother of mine from many years ago... We were both Sin Cultivators, drinking, feasting, and killing together, and we were both wanted by the Dao Court."
"He treasured this map like his life, but he refused to lend it to me. So, I poisoned his wine, killed him, and took the map. But after I got it, I regretted it. The map is messy and doesn't seem to point to anything significant. I've studied it for decades, but I still can't make heads or tails of it. What pains me the most is that because of this worthless thing, I lost a good brother..."
Mo Hua was left speechless by Bald Monk's story.
