Chapter 261: True Thousand Hands 【67】
Chapter 261: True Thousand Hands 【67】
In the Land of Waterfalls, lies a village known as the Waterfall Village.
This is a country with a unique terrain; its mountains are rugged, and the villages are nestled in the plains carved out from the mountains. Many villages are built right behind the waterfalls, and the Waterfall Village is one of them, nestled behind a massive waterfall.
At this moment, the waterfall that once concealed the Waterfall Village has been completely destroyed, forming a wide canyon, seemingly blasted open by a tailed beast bomb.
Water flows down the sides of the canyon, and at its center lies the remains of the Waterfall Village. Some ninja from the village can be seen gathering, but their forehead protectors now bear a change.
Instead of solely bearing the symbol of the Waterfall Village, a symbol of Konohagakure now precedes it, with a connecting dot in between.
All ninjas from other villages who have been absorbed by Konoha wear such forehead protectors, indicating their original village.
This is done for stability and control.
Newly born ninja receive a unified education from Konoha and, upon graduating from the Ninja Academy, don the Konoha forehead protector, no longer bearing the symbol of their original village.
"What a tragic sight..."
Standing on a stone above one side of the Waterfall Cliffs, Kurenai Yuhi gazed down at what used to be the Waterfall Village and couldn't help but murmur.
Judging from the looks of it, the village has likely suffered heavy losses, not just in terms of ninja but also among the civilian elderly and children.
Tailed beasts are a double-edged sword for ninja villages.
When controlled well, they are a formidable force, but when uncontrolled, they become a significant liability.
"I wonder why they insisted on obtaining a tailed beast back then," Hinata said softly as she stood on the water's surface on the other side.
There was a simple reason for her presence here; she couldn't let Feng Ye and Kurenai go alone, or who knows, they might return with a child in tow.
"No," Feng Ye shook his head. "During that period, the Waterfall Village indeed had the qualifications and capability to control a tailed beast. There was a strong ninja in their village named Kakuzu. He once participated in the mission to assassinate the First Hokage."
"Unfortunately, he failed in his mission and, upon returning to the village, was punished for his failure. In a fit of anger, he broke out of prison and defected, greatly reducing the strength of the Waterfall Village."
Having recently conquered several small ninja villages and nations, Feng Ye had gathered much intelligence. Combined with his existing knowledge, he had a clear understanding of the history of these minor ninja villages.
Kurenai looked at Feng Ye in mild shock and said, "Assassinate the First Hokage?"
"Mhm," Feng Ye chuckled. "He also tried to assassinate me, but he failed at that too."
Hinata, equally astonished, turned to Feng Ye and asked, "He tried to assassinate you as well? If he attempted to assassinate the First Hokage, then his age should be..."
"He has a rather unimpressive means of achieving immortality, a way to extend his lifespan," Feng Ye casually explained Kakuzu's ability before leaping down to the front of the Waterfall Village.
The ninja of the Waterfall Village had already spotted Feng Ye and the other two, and upon seeing him descend, many of them drew in a breath before swiftly approaching.
"Greetings, Hokage-sama..." The ninja from the Waterfall Village had complicated expressions in their eyes.
Originally, they were a self-sufficient village, but now they were an annex of Konoha, and it seemed like they would inevitably be swallowed up by the larger village.
However, this turn of events was not necessarily bad. As part of Konoha, they no longer had to worry about external threats, as Konohagakure was now indisputably the strongest ninja village in the world.
The current leader of the Waterfall Village, or more accurately, the captain of the Konoha-Takigakure ninja squad, Hua Yan, stepped forward and addressed Feng Ye. "I can pinpoint the Seven-Tails' location... Are there only three of you, Hokage-sama?" He asked, his expression somewhat tense.
The fifth Hokage of Konoha! The man who ended the Third Great Ninja War and was revered as the God of the Ninja World! What kind of power did he possess that commanded such awe, especially when he appeared younger and not overtly muscular?
"Hmm, if you can track the Seven-Tails, then lead the way," Feng Ye said, giving Hua Yan a nod.
Hua Yan took a moment to compose himself, inhaling deeply before performing a series of hand seals to activate his sensory abilities. A moment later, he opened his eyes and said, "Follow me!"
Whoosh! He swiftly dashed in a particular direction.
Feng Ye, Kurenai, and Rin followed suit, disappearing from their original spots and quickly navigating through the canyons.
Half a day later...
"It's been a while since we last saw Choumei," the Nine-Tails' voice echoed in Feng Ye's mind, having sensed the presence of the Seven-Tails. Feng Ye, however, had detected the Seven-Tails' chakra even earlier.
Whoosh! Whoosh!!
Hua Yan led the group to a spot above a canyon and came to a halt, his brow beaded with sweat as he gazed down. "Hokage-sama, the Seven-Tails is right below us," he said, a hint of trepidation in his voice.
Sensing the Seven-Tails' chakra, a sense of dread filled his heart as he recalled the beast's previous rampage in the village. A single Tailed Beast Ball had destroyed half the village and pierced through the entire canyon—a terrifying display of power. Now, with the Seven-Tails right below them, he felt an instinctive urge to flee.
His eyes flickered towards Feng Ye, and he forcibly suppressed the tremors running through his body. This was the fifth Hokage, the man revered as the God of the Ninja World, just like the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama, who had once subdued the Tailed Beasts. Surely, he could restrain the rampaging Seven-Tails.
"Red, Rin, you two step back," Feng Ye instructed as he walked towards the edge of the canyon. His golden Mystic Law robe appeared, shimmering with a faint golden light.
Kurenai Yuhi and Rin exchanged a glance and immediately retreated to a safer distance, while Hua Yan quickly moved even further away.
Feng Ye reached the edge of the canyon.
Then, with a gentle clasp of his hands in front of him, a surge of chakra rippled within his body, and his eyes glinted with a faint light.
"Mystic Law."
"Wood Release... True Thousand Hands!"
Boom!!!
Behind Feng Ye, the canyon exploded, giving way to a colossal wooden figure that towered far above even a complete Susanoo. Its back bore three concentric circles, each composed of hands.
Then, to Hua Yan's awe-struck gaze, the gigantic wooden figure extended its hand and plunged it into the canyon. A shrill cry echoed from within, and the hand emerged, clutching the Seven-Tails as if plucking a grasshopper. The Tailed Beast was then hoisted into the air.
Hiss!!!
The Seven-Tails struggled frantically but to no avail, unable to budge the giant wooden hand in the slightest. In that moment, it recalled the fear it had felt many years ago when it was dominated by the First Hokage, Senju Hashirama.
"Senju Hashirama!!!" it shrieked.
