Chapter 261: The Ambush
Chapter 261: The Ambush
In the seventh vehicle of the convoy, Xiong Jianyi sat with his arms crossed, his tall stature making the two security personnel on either side of him appear petite.
Expressionless, he sat still in his seat, while the two security guards watched him vigilantly, and even the driver occasionally glanced at him through the rearview mirror.
As the car rounded a bend, it slowed down, and at that moment, Xiong Jianyi's expression suddenly changed, and he quickly leaned back in his seat.
Just then, a circular blade of light descended from above, slicing through the middle of the car, the force from the blade tearing the entire vehicle into two halves in an instant!
Both halves of the car flipped and flew up, and the people inside, including the driver, immediately curled up to protect themselves when the unexpected happened.
However, the rear half of the car only flew up slightly before a powerful force pushed it away, sending it tumbling into the distance. It landed and continued to bounce and roll.
A tall figure emerged from within, at least two meters tall, clad in a black bodysuit that hugged his bulging muscles. His arms were long, and his fingers seemed to effortlessly reach his knees. He wore protective goggles, and his hair was tied in a ponytail.
Xiong Jianyi!
Chen Chuan instantly recognized him from his movements and the force he exuded. He was a Third Limit Fighter! As expected.
If he didn't have this level of skill, he probably wouldn't dare to return to Great Shun.
But none of that mattered now; all he knew was that this man was his target.
There was no time to confront this man; the Palace Clan had their guards, and more trouble would come if they surrounded him later.
So, he slowly straightened up from his slashing stance, locking eyes with Chen Chuan for a moment. He tightened his grip on the sword handle and suddenly charged forward, his long sword swinging upwards towards Xiong Jianyi! Xiong Jianyi had no weapon at hand, and the Palace Clan guards were keeping a close eye on him, but he didn't rely on that. His specialty was the art of capture, and his entire body was clad in specially designed protective clothing that, combined with his own force, could withstand the blades of fighters to some extent.
Facing the descending blade, he retreated and leaned back, narrowly avoiding the sharp edge with a swift movement. Through his protective goggles, he observed Chen Chuan's every move.
The next attack would be a slash...
The blade shifted, transforming into a slashing strike aimed at his torso. He continued to back away, and the tip of the sword barely grazed past his nose.
He kept his gaze fixed on Chen Chuan, and then... it was time for a thrust!
Indeed, after the unsuccessful slash, Chen Chuan lowered his sword handle to his waist, sinking his strength as his left hand also gripped the handle, the tip of the sword pointing directly at Xiong Jianyi, ready to burst forward.
Xiong Jianyi had been waiting for this moment!
As Chen Chuan pushed and thrust his sword forward, Xiong Jianyi's back muscles tensed, and at the very moment when Chen Chuan's force reached its peak, he needed to retract and gather his strength to prepare for the next offensive. But in that brief gap, Xiong Jianyi burst forward, instantly breaking Chen Chuan's bones!
Chen Chuan's eyes deepened, fixing on his opponent. In that instant, Xiong Jianyi released the full potential of his metamorphic body, and his Furnace Breathing Method also activated. His blood suddenly boiled, and he channeled all his strength into a forward thrust of the Snow Lady Sword!
Xiong Jianyi's sword move initially seemed slow, as if it hadn't changed from before. But midway, it suddenly accelerated, and both man and sword seemed to transform into a shadow that even Xiong Jianyi struggled to capture.
What?
Xiong Jianyi's eyes widened behind his protective goggles, taken aback by Chen Chuan's sudden change. His nervous system couldn't keep up with the unexpected shift.
However, the intense stimulation triggered an instinctual response in his body. Driven by his metamorphic body, his arms shot up, crossing in front of his chest, while his body leaned back.
But the swift blade of light pierced through his crossed arms in an instant, continuing through his chest and exiting from his back with a ripping sound.
In just one move, Xiong Jianyi suffered a severe injury.
Third Limit Fighters had tenacious vitality, and he wasn't at the brink of death yet. However, with his arms pierced by the blade, and his specialty being the art of capture, he instantly lost his ability to counterattack.
But he knew that if he let Chen Chuan draw his sword, he would undoubtedly die. Even if they fought one-on-one, his struggles would be futile.
Fortunately, the Palace Clan's guards were nearby, and they would soon react and come to his aid. So, he abruptly tightened his muscles and metamorphic body, firmly gripping the sword.
At the front of the convoy, Palace Zhan Yi's armored vehicle came to a stop. Despite the sudden attack, he remained calm and asked, "Which side are they from?"
With the biofield disrupted, he couldn't confirm the situation himself, but an experienced person beside him took a glance and said uncertainly, "Master, that windbreaker looks a bit like the Administration Bureau..."
Palace Zhan Yi's expression changed. They had anticipated that the Handling Bureau might intervene, but the Handling Bureau was manageable. If it was the Administration Bureau...
He spoke sternly, "Open fire! Kill Xiong Jianyi immediately!"
The handler's heart skipped a beat. "Yes!"
At his command, the other members of the convoy in front raised their guns without hesitation, aiming towards the rear.
Meanwhile, in the back, Chen Chuan, with Xiong Jianyi's grip on the blade, exerted force, pulling the sword towards himself.
Xiong Jianyi's body was pierced through, and he couldn't muster a complete burst of power. His body was moved by the force, and Chen Chuan struck his head with a palm.
Xiong Jianyi felt something amiss as the altered tissue above his shoulders and neck squirmed, protecting his neck. Simultaneously, his head suddenly lowered, and his long hair whipped towards Chen Chuan like a whip.
Chen Chuan paid no heed to the flying hair. With a palm strike to Xiong Jianyi's forehead, the force exploded, causing blood to gush from Xiong Jianyi's mouth and nose. His entire body tilted back, exposing his neck.
Chen Chuan's fingers gently slid down Xiong Jianyi's cheek, reaching his throat. With a quick flick, he tore the soft tissue and flesh, accompanied by a tearing sound.
Xiong Jianyi let out a whimper, and blood gushed from the wound, splattering onto Chen Chuan's scarf.
Just then, Chen Chuan sensed something amiss behind him. He swiftly spun, switching positions with Xiong Jianyi's body.
"Bang, bang, bang..." A rapid succession of gunshots rang out.
The bullets all struck Xiong Jianyi's body, most of them sliding off his protective suit.
But amidst the gunfire, Chen Chuan heard a strange sound. Immediately, Xiong Jianyi's tense muscles slackened completely.
The gunfire ceased.
Chen Chuan glanced back and saw a large hole blown open on Xiong Jianyi's forehead. It was a bullet that had entered from the back of his head, precise and deadly.
Even a Third Limit Fighter, with their brain shattered, would not survive, no matter how strong their life force.
At that moment, Chen Chuan noticed a strong sign of virtualization on Xiong Jianyi's second self, but it flickered and disappeared in an instant.
Footsteps approached from behind, and the security team from the Palace Clan's convoy arrived. They spread out, aiming their guns at Chen Chuan's back.
Chen Chuan seemed unaffected. With a flex of his arm, he calmly withdrew his sword from Xiong Jianyi's body.
As the gleaming sword reappeared in the sunlight, Chen Chuan gripped the hilt and twisted his wrist, flinging the sword to the side. Xiong Jianyi, now without support, fell back, his limbs splayed, and crashed heavily onto the ground.
The Handling Bureau's team, dispatched to assist Chen Chuan, had arrived, but to their surprise, everything was already over before they could act.
They had arrived swiftly, but from the time Chen Chuan jumped off the balcony, cut through the vehicle, and Xiong Jianyi was shot, it had all taken less than twenty seconds.
When they arrived, they only witnessed Xiong Jianyi's collapse from a distance. Chen Chuan stood there, sword in hand, while the Palace Clan's security personnel behind and in front of him had their guns drawn, their faces tense.
Chen Chuan turned to look at them. Recognizing their uniforms, he realized they were from the Handling Bureau. A thought crossed his mind, and he understood—they were probably here to handle any issues arising from his actions. He sheathed his sword and walked towards them.
At the front of the convoy, the manager turned to look at Palace Zhan Yi, who shook his head. Without orders from him, not a single person had fired a shot, and they watched as Chen Chuan walked away.
The team leader, Zhao Heng, watched him leave. He turned to look at Palace Zhan Yi, who shook his head, giving no orders. Throughout the entire incident, not a single shot was fired, and they bid him farewell with their eyes.
As Chen Chuan approached, the team member who had gone to the residence's checkpoint emerged with a sword sheath, tossing it towards Chen Chuan, "Chen Xiao Ge, here's your stuff."
Chen Chuan caught it and thanked him. He then turned to Zhao Heng, saying, "Senior, I confirm that Xiong Jianyi is dead. According to the mission regulations, I need to return and report."
Zhao Heng smiled, "Good job, young man. You can go back. The rest is not your concern; we'll handle it."
Chen Chuan nodded to Zhao Heng and the surrounding team members. He adjusted his scarf, sheathed his long sword, and took his leave.
Zhao Heng looked forward and signaled a team member to approach the Palace Clan's convoy. Just then, his Boundary Vessel reactivated, and Li Dui's voice came through, "How's the situation over there?"
Zhao Heng replied, "Li Dui, Xiong Jianyi, already deceased."
Li Dui asked, "So fast? Did you handle it?"
"No, it was that new guy, Chen... Chen Chuan, right? When we arrived, he had already taken care of it."
Li Dui fell silent for a moment.
"What did you say?"
Zhao Heng raised his voice, "I said, when we arrived, he... had already... taken care of it!"
Li Dui seemed skeptical, "Are you sure?"
Zhao Heng glanced at Xiong Jianyi again, "His head has a gaping hole, and his brain is a mess inside. I don't think even medical help could save him."
Li Dui took a breath and said, "Bring Xiong Jianyi's body back."
"And then?"
"Then we'll return to base. Let the higher-ups handle the rest."
After the call, the team member who had fetched the sword sheath earlier produced some items, "Zhao Heng, take a look at this."
Zhao Heng examined them and was surprised. Wow, these are all potential stimulants! If you take them all at once, you might just explode! Are all the newcomers this daring nowadays?
