Chapter 261: One Versus Six, Astonishing the Entire Arena! Its Name, the Reigning King!
Chapter 261: One Versus Six, Astonishing the Entire Arena! Its Name, the Reigning King!
At the other end of the competitors' hall, the camera slowly panned, focusing on the two mysterious Pokemon.
Diantha, the champion, watched them on the screen, a look of surprise on her face. With her discerning eye, she could tell that these two Pokemon were no ordinary creatures; their eyes and aura set them apart.
"Naoki… I've never heard of this trainer in the Galar region before. Could he be from another region?" she wondered.
On screen, as Vivian's voice echoed, the first battle officially began.
Aubrey confidently faced his opponent and reached for a Poke Ball, tossing it with a flourish. "Whoever you are, we won't lose this battle! Go, Hoarder!"
With a flash of white light, Hoarder the Cramorant took to the field.
"..." Naoki remained expressionless as he turned to his Pokemon. "Go, Grokey!"
Grokey let out a determined cry, stepping forward to stand before its trainer. As it entered the battle, a crimson ancient pulse resonated from its body, and a mysterious power spread through the air, causing the sunlight to intensify.
"In the first battle, Aubrey has sent out Hoarder, while Naoki has chosen that red Pokemon! The sun's intensity has increased—could it be due to that Pokemon?" Vivian exclaimed, noticing the change in the arena.
The battle had begun, and Aubrey gave his command: "Hoarder, use Charm!"
Obeying, Hoarder put on a cute act, trying to charm Grokey while sneaking closer.
Grokey, confused by this behavior, tilted its head and asked, "Grokey?"
"Finish this quickly!" Naoki ordered from behind.
Grokey snapped back to attention. Following its trainer's command, it flexed its leg muscles and leaped high, shifting its form as it slammed down on Hoarder with tremendous force.
Sensing the danger, Aubrey cried out, "Hoarder, watch out!" But it was too late; the ancient power of Grokey's attack had already triggered a violent explosion, sending Hoarder flying.
Hoarder lay motionless on the ground, defeated in an instant.
A swift victory!
Before the audience could even react, the first battle had ended.
"What just happened?"
"Aubrey's Hoarder was taken out in one move?!"
"What kind of Pokemon is that? Its power is terrifying!"
"Yes!" Mack exclaimed, pumping his fist. His confidence soared as he laughed, "Hahaha! Is that all? Robbie, is this the trainer you were so confident about? Who's going to be sent packing now?"
Robbie scowled. "Damn, don't get too cocky yet! The match isn't over!"
Mack was in high spirits. "Then I'll enjoy watching you lose!"
"Incredible!" Vivian exclaimed, shocked. "Aubrey's Hoarder was defeated in one move! What kind of power is that? And now, we move to the second round, with Aubrey sending out an Eevee! Round two begins, and—”
Before Vivian could finish, the audience witnessed the red Pokemon open its mouth and unleash a blast of fiery flames.
The Eevee was instantly engulfed, falling unconscious in the blaze.
Vivian gasped, "Astonishing! Round two ended just as it began! Another one-hit victory!"
The spectators were stunned.
"What's going on?! This is a high-level regional tournament! Why is Aubrey performing like a novice trainer?"
"No, it's not that Aubrey is performing like a novice; it's that his opponent is incredibly strong! That kind of strength belongs to a champion!"
At these words, the entire arena erupted in whispers. All eyes turned to the young man below.
"Could it be a champion from another region visiting Galar?!"
The battles continued.
In the third round, Aubrey sent out a Chewtle, only to be defeated in five seconds.
The fourth round saw a Runerigus take the field, but it, too, was swiftly defeated.
In the fifth round, Eldegoss met the same fate.
By the final round, Aubrey's face was grim; he could barely stand.
At the very least, his six Pokemon could take on each of Diantha's in turn!
By this point, Vivian and the audience were stunned into silence.
"What kind of Pokemon is that? Its power is truly terrifying!"
"I can't believe it. The Steel Armor Taxi Company actually found such a formidable trainer!"
Even Mack, the owner of the Steel Armor Taxi Company, was astounded.
He stared with wide eyes, muttering, "Holy crap!"
Had he just drawn the rarest of gold cards? His luck was unbelievable!
In the competitors' hall, Diantha gazed at the Pokemon that had achieved a five-win streak, his eyes reflecting his shock.
Then, a fierce battle intent ignited within him.
Seeing the dejected look on his opponent's face, Naoki felt a twinge of guilt.
"I'm sorry," he said. "I only entered this battle to obtain something; I didn't intend to target you specifically."
Hearing Naoki's words, after a moment of confusion, Oak shook his head firmly. "No, you don't need to apologize. We were simply outmatched. But the battle isn't over yet!"
Saying this, he took out his last Poke Ball.
"You're a trainer from another region, aren't you?" Oak asked.
Naoki nodded.
Oak smiled. "In that case, let me show you one of the specialties of the Galar region! Gigantamax, Sirfetch'd!"
As his words landed, a purple energy surged from Oak's Gigantamax Band, flowing into the Poke Ball in his hand. Instantly, the Poke Ball began to grow visibly.
Oak hugged the ball with both arms and then threw it with force.
With a loud thud, a Sirfetch'd several dozen meters tall landed on the field, its powerful aura filling the arena.
"It's here!" Vivian finally found her voice. "Oak's ace Pokemon, Gigantamax Sirfetch'd!"
Naoki looked up at the Sirfetch'd before him, his heart pounding.
So this is a Gigantamax Pokemon?
It's quite a spectacular sight!
Behind him, Leon watched, deep in thought, sensing the aura around them. That power... it resembled the Dark Night they had once faced.
The final battle had officially begun!
The audience in the arena held their breath, eagerly anticipating the outcome—whether Gigantamax Sirfetch'd or the red Pokemon would prove more powerful.
"Sirfetch'd, use Max Overgrowth!" Oak commanded in a deep voice.
"Sirfetch'd!"
Sirfetch'd let out a battle cry, and its aura surged even higher.
A terrifying energy brewed in the battlefield above.
"Grokey," Naoki said, feeling a tinge of nervousness.
"Grokey," Grokey replied nonchalantly, as if it were no big deal.
"Alright then... let's give it our all with Blaze Rush!" Naoki declared.
As his words landed, the Gigantamax Sirfetch'd moved.
It swung its arm, and a massive green energy ball fell like a meteor toward the ground.
Grokey locked onto its target, timing its move perfectly. Its body ignited with scarlet flames as it charged forward.
Then, it leaped, rushing straight toward the green energy ball.
In that moment, the entire arena fell silent, every spectator holding their breath. Even Diantha watched the screen intently, unblinking.
Amidst the hushed crowd, Grokey, enveloped in flames, pierced through the giant green energy ball and slammed into the Gigantamax Sirfetch'd.
The impact caused Sirfetch'd to stumble, its massive body exploding with a powerful Gigantamax energy.
Then, it began to shrink rapidly.
Green light bathed the entire arena.
"Sirfetch'd has been knocked out of its Gigantamax state in one hit! Oh my goodness! What is happening?!" Vivian exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement.
"He's lost." The moment Sirfetch'd started shrinking, Diantha knew the outcome.
That trainer, that Pokemon... they were certainly intriguing! Diantha was now prepared for the upcoming battle against them.
In the audience, Mack tensed with excitement, exclaiming, "Oh my God!"
Beside him, Robbie's face darkened as he recalled his premature celebration with the champagne. He felt his face burning with embarrassment.
One word: refreshing!
When the energy shrouding the battlefield finally dissipated,
Gorrilla was already lying on the ground, incapacitated.
Meanwhile, Gorlton stood unscathed by its side.
Seeing this, the referee stepped forward, checked on Gorrilla, and then blew his whistle to announce:
"The battle is over! Gorrilla has lost its ability to battle, and the victory goes to Naoki!"
"This is terrifying! It's truly astonishing! That Pokemon just achieved an incredible victory over all six opponents!" Vivian exclaimed excitedly. "Aubrey is a trainer who has participated in the Champion's Cup and reached the semi-finals before!"
"Hey, what's Naoki doing now?" Vivian suddenly noticed something happening in the battlefield.
The mysterious Pokemon that had been floating behind Naoki floated over to the unconscious Gorrilla.
Amidst the puzzled gazes of the audience, the Pokemon gently raised its right hand.
A vibrant energy emanated from it and flowed into Gorrilla's body.
A second later, Gorrilla twitched its eyelids and stood up.
"That Pokemon is healing Gorrilla! Its healing ability is incredible! It restored Gorrilla's energy instantly!" Vivian exclaimed, realizing what was happening.
On the battlefield, Oak stared in astonishment at Naoki and Reigate standing before him.
"What... what are you doing?" he asked, bewildered.
"Release your other Pokemon. I'll heal them as well," Naoki offered.
After witnessing the recovery of Gorrilla, Oak nodded and released his remaining Pokemon.
Reigate proceeded to heal each one of them.
Once all the Pokemon had their energy restored, Oak turned to Reigate and thanked it with a sincere "Thank you."
Reigate smiled gently and then returned to Naoki's side.
"You two are incredibly strong!" Oak exclaimed, genuinely impressed.
"I believe you will reach this level one day, too," Naoki replied, not knowing what else to say.
Oak nodded vigorously, his eyes sparkling with determination. "Yes, we'll keep working hard! We'll strive for that peak as well!"
"Good luck!"
Having accomplished his goal for this trip, Naoki didn't plan to continue the tournament. He intended to forfeit the remaining matches and return to the Pasio region with Raboot and Polteageist.
Just as he was about to head back to the competitors' hall, Vivian rushed over with a microphone in hand.
"Naoki, wait!" she called out.
Naoki paused and turned around, a bit surprised. "Yes?"
Vivian excitedly requested, "After witnessing this match, I'm sure everyone is curious about you. May I interview you on behalf of the audience?"
Naoki nodded gently, a friendly smile on his face. "Of course."
"Thank you so much!" Vivian's eyes sparkled with excitement. "So, my first question: Which region are you from?"
Naoki faced the camera and replied, "The Pasio region."
"Pasio region?" Vivian exclaimed, surprised. "Wow, that's quite far from the Galar region! Well then, my second question is about these two Pokemon. There's no record of them in the Pokedex, and I'm sure everyone is curious about their names..."
Their names? Naoki hesitated for a moment, then unconsciously looked at Reigate.
Reigate, seeming to understand his thoughts, smiled and nodded gently.
Naoki smiled back, then turned to face the camera again.
"This Pokemon is called Gorlton, and like me, it's from the Pasio region," he introduced.
Gorlton chirped happily, "Agasi!"
"Wow! It looks so friendly! Not at all like the fierce creature I imagined!" Vivian exclaimed.
Naoki smiled gently. "Gorlton is a very kind Pokemon."
"I see," Vivian nodded, then turned her attention to the other majestic and regal-looking mysterious Pokemon. "And what about this one?"
Naoki turned to Reigate, their gazes meeting, and in that moment, amidst the thousands of eyes upon them in the arena, he spoke its name:
"Reigate. That is its name."
