Chapter 261: It's Time for Change in the Wizarding World! ——Ivan Hals
Chapter 261: It's Time for Change in the Wizarding World! ——Ivan Hals
"You will regret this!"
Lucius Malfoy knew he was no match for Ivan and Dobby, especially not in front of the Headmaster's Office. He gritted his teeth, flung his robe, and turned to leave.
Hearing Lucius's words, Ivan frowned and said meaningfully to his retreating back.
"Mr. Malfoy, I hope you think carefully before you do anything. For example, consider your son, Draco, who is at Hogwarts."
Lucius Malfoy's back stiffened as he understood the unspoken threat. He glared at Ivan and then quickened his pace, disappearing from view.
After using Draco Malfoy to intimidate Lucius, Ivan shook his head. He had always found it hard to understand why, in the original timeline, Lucius would have let his anger get the best of him and placed a Horcrux with Ginny, sending it to Hogwarts.
While this could certainly pressure his rivals, the Weasley Family, his son Draco was also a student there!
Did Lucius not worry about involving Draco? The Basilisk's gaze did not distinguish between Pureblood Wizards and others; it killed anyone it saw.
Even if Lucius did not know that Tom would release the Basilisk, the Horcrux was still a dangerous item given by the Dark Lord. As long as Draco was at Hogwarts, he could be affected.
Clearly, Lucius cared deeply for his son, Draco.
Unable to figure it out, Ivan decided to let it go for now and turned his attention to Dobby.
"Thank you, sir! You have freed Dobby!" Dobby's eyes shimmered with tears of gratitude.
Dobby had thought he was finished, expecting to be taken back to the Malfoy manor for severe punishment or even beheaded for disobeying orders and acting on his own. But Ivan had unexpectedly stepped in to save him.
"In Dobby's eyes, you are as great as Harry Potter!" Dobby exclaimed in a high-pitched voice.
Ivan rolled his eyes but understood the high esteem in which Harry was held by Dobby.
Otherwise, Dobby wouldn't have come to Hogwarts to "help" Harry, knowing the severe consequences he would face.
"Dobby, do you have any plans now that you are free?" Ivan squatted down, looking directly at the House-Elf.
"Is Hals sir trying to become Dobby's new master?" Dobby fluttered his long ears and stared at Ivan.
"We can put it another way. I can hire you. How about you working for me?" Ivan understood that Dobby was a House-Elf who yearned for freedom.
While he could have taken advantage of Dobby's gratitude and become his new master, it would have created negative consequences. Ivan did not want to become another Lucius.
"Ivan Hals is willing to give Dobby a job? Oh, sir, are you really willing to do this?" Dobby widened his eyes in surprise.
"Of course! As for payment..." Ivan thought for a moment. In the original timeline, Dobby was reluctant to accept regular wages, so he suggested:
"How about one Galleon per week?"
"That's too much! Dobby only needs one Sickle, no, one Knut will do."
Dobby was panic-stricken. The fact that Ivan was willing to pay him at all was more than enough for him, and he refused to accept a Galleon.
After some persuasion, Ivan gave up.
However, Ivan still increased Dobby's salary to the one silver sickle per week that Dobby initially requested.
After all, House-Elves need to eat too, and they can't just rely on meals from the Hogwarts kitchen every day.
Just as Ivan and Dobby confirmed their employment relationship, the system notification sounded again.
[New Task Activated!]
Ivan was taken aback for a moment, then opened the system's task list to check. Sure enough, there was a new entry.
[Task Objective: Form a House-Elf Legion
Current Progress: 1/50
Task Reward: 3 Legendary Points
Task Description: After successfully freeing the first House-Elf, you have come to deeply understand the potential of these magical creatures!
You believe that forming a loyal and dedicated legion composed entirely of House-Elves is essential, which will greatly aid in achieving your ambitions!
Note: A new era is about to dawn, and it is time for the Wizarding world to undergo a change! ——Words of Ivan Hals.]
No, don't talk nonsense, I don't want any change!
Ivan was quite speechless.
He felt that this system might as well be called the Dark Lord Cultivation System, given that the major tasks it generated were either about subduing werewolves or forming a House-Elf legion. What was a second-year Wizard supposed to do with such things?
Fortunately, the system's tasks were never mandatory, so Ivan immediately dismissed this ridiculous task, just like he had done with the earlier task to unify Diagon Alley.
Although the task reward was a generous 3 Legendary Points, the task itself was almost impossible to complete!
In the Wizarding world, House-Elves were typically enslaved by ancient and wealthy Wizarding families. Getting them to betray their masters and follow him was virtually impossible!
After all, House-Elves had been enslaved by Wizards for over a thousand years, and this had become an accepted norm. Even the House-Elves themselves had subconsciously accepted their status as slaves.
Obedience to their masters was almost ingrained in their Dna, and some radical House-Elves would even commit suicide out of shame after being expelled from their homes by their masters!
Dobby, who was willing to serve someone else, was a rare exception!
Apart from that, the only place where a large number of House-Elves could be found was Hogwarts.
But this was Dumbledore's territory!
Ivan dared not casually try to recruit the House-Elves here, as any one of them could secretly report him to Dumbledore, which would be the end of him!
Besides, Ivan had no intention of causing a revolution in the Wizarding world; that would be courting disaster!
The last person who tried such a thing was still locked up in Nurmengard, reflecting on his actions.
Ivan felt that it was better to focus on his studies and magic, just as he was doing now.
"Sir, is there something wrong?" Dobby, noticing Ivan standing there with a changing expression, asked curiously.
"Nothing, just thinking about some things." Ivan shook his head and continued. "By the way, I have a task for you to handle!"
Ivan remembered the Acromantula venom and other magical materials he had stored in the Room of Requirement.
He had never found the time to sell these items, and now with Dobby, he didn't need to handle these chores himself.
"Dobby is ready to serve you, sir!" Dobby bowed deeply, speaking respectfully.
