Chapter 261: Ambush
Chapter 261: Ambush
In the seventh vehicle of the convoy, Xiong Jianyi sat with his arms wrapped around his body, his towering stature making the two guards on either side appear diminutive.
Expressionless, he remained still in his seat, while the guards were alert, keeping a close eye on him. Even the driver occasionally glanced at him through the rearview mirror.
As the vehicle navigated a curve, it naturally slowed down. Suddenly, Xiong Jianyi's expression changed, and he quickly leaned back.
Outside the car, a circular blade of light descended from above, slicing through the middle of the vehicle. The force from the blade tore the entire car into two pieces, front and back, in an instant!
Both sections of the car flipped and flew apart, but the occupants were not weak. Even the driver, at the first sign of trouble, curled up to protect themselves.
The rear section of the car flew up slightly, but a powerful force pushed it away, sending it tumbling into the distance. It continued to bounce and roll even after landing.
A tall figure emerged from within, standing at least two meters tall. His black bodysuit hugged his muscular physique, and his long arms reached down to his knees. He wore protective goggles, and his hair was tied in a ponytail.
Xiong Jianyi!
Chen Chuan instantly recognized him from his movements and the force he exuded. He was a third-limit fighter! Just as expected.
If this person didn't have this level of skill, they wouldn't dare return to Da Shun.
But none of that mattered now. Chen Chuan knew that this was his target.
There was no time to engage in a standoff with this individual. The Gong Clan had their own guards, and if they joined the fray, things would only get more complicated.
So, Chen Chuan slowly straightened up from his slashing posture, locked eyes with Xiong Jianyi for a moment, tightened his grip on the sword handle, and then charged forward. He brandished his long sword, aiming for an upward slash!
Xiong Jianyi was unarmed, and the Gong Clan's guards were closely watching him. However, he didn't rely on weapons. His specialty was capture techniques, and his body was clad in a specially designed protective suit that, combined with his own force, could withstand the blades of fighters.
Facing the blade, he retreated and leaned back, narrowly avoiding the sharp edge. Through his protective goggles, he observed Chen Chuan's every move.
The next attack would be a slash...
The blade shifted, transforming from a slash to a downward chop aimed at his torso. Chen Chuan continued to back away, and the tip of the blade barely grazed past his nose.
He kept his gaze fixed on Chen Chuan, and then... a thrust!
As expected, after the unsuccessful slash, Chen Chuan saw Xiong Jianyi lower his sword, his power sinking as he gripped the handle with both hands. The tip of the sword pointed directly at him, ready to burst forward.
Xiong Jianyi waited for that moment!
Chen Chuan's muscles rippled beneath his skin. As Chen Chuan thrust forward, the moment the force reached its peak, Xiong Jianyi seized the opportunity. In the brief pause before the next attack, he instantly countered, using the sword to control his opponent and break his bones!
Chen Chuan's eyes were calm and focused on his adversary. Just as he was about to deliver the final blow, Chen Chuan released the restrictions on his altered body and activated his Furnace Breath. His blood boiled, and with all his might, he thrust the Xuejun Blade forward!
At first, his sword technique seemed slow, but midway through, it accelerated suddenly. Man and sword became a blur, even Xiong Jianyi struggled to capture.
What?
Xiong Jianyi's eyes widened behind his goggles. His assessment of Chen Chuan's movements was based on the previous three attacks, but this sudden change caught him off guard, and his reflexes couldn't keep up.
However, the intense stimulation triggered a primal response. His altered muscles pushed his arms up, crossing them protectively over his chest, while his body leaned back.
But the swift blade pierced through his crossed arms, slicing through his chest and exiting from his back with a hiss.
In just one move, Xiong Jianyi suffered a severe injury.
Third-limit fighters had strong vitality, and he wasn't in mortal danger yet. However, with his arms impaled by the blade, and his specialty being capture techniques, he had lost his ability to counterattack.
But he knew that if Chen Chuan pulled out his sword, he was as good as dead. Even if they fought one-on-one, his struggles would be futile.
Fortunately, the Gong Clan's guards were nearby, and they would soon react and come to his aid. So, Xiong Jianyi clenched his muscles and altered body, gripping the sword tightly.
At the front of the convoy, Gong Zhanyi's armored vehicle came to a stop. Despite the sudden attack, he remained calm and asked, "Which faction are you from?"
With the bio-field interference, he couldn't confirm the situation himself. However, an experienced member of his entourage glanced at the attacker and said uncertainly, "Master, that windbreaker... it looks like it's from the Administrative Bureau..."
Gong Zhanyi's face changed. They had anticipated that the Processing Bureau might intervene, but if it was the Administrative Bureau...
He ordered, "Shoot! Kill Xiong Jianyi immediately!"
The attendant's heart skipped a beat. "Yes!"
At his command, the other members of the convoy didn't hesitate to raise their guns towards the rear.
At the back, as Xiong Jianyi clamped down on the blade, Chen Chuan exerted force, pulling the sword towards himself.
Xiong Jianyi's body was pierced, rendering him incapable of mustering a complete burst of power. Chen Chuan, on the othere hand, struck a palm towards his head.
Xiong Jianyi sensed something amiss. His altered organs above the shoulders twitched, protecting his neck, while his head suddenly dipped, his long hair lashing out like a whip towards Chen Chuan.
Chen Chuan paid no heed to the whipping hair. He struck his palm onto Xiong Jianyi's forehead, unleashing a burst of power. Blood spurted from Xiong Jianyi's nose and mouth, and his entire body tilted back, exposing his neck.
Chen Chuan's fingers brushed against Xiong Jianyi's cheek, sliding down gently. As they reached his throat, he clenched his fingers and pulled downward, tearing the soft tissue and flesh with a sickening sound.
Xiong Jianyi let out a mournful whimper, and blood gushed from the gaping wound, splattering onto Chen Chuan's scarf.
Just then, Chen Chuan sensed something amiss behind him. He swiftly spun, using Xiong Jianyi's body as a shield.
A rapid series of gunshots rang out—'Bang! Bang! Bang!'
The bullets struck Xiong Jianyi's protective suit, most of them sliding off harmlessly.
Amid the gunfire, Chen Chuan heard a peculiar sound and felt Xiong Jianyi's tensed muscles suddenly relax completely.
The shooting ceased.
Chen Chuan glanced up and saw a large hole in Xiong Jianyi's forehead, a bullet shot from behind had entered with deadly precision.
Even a third-limit fighter, with their brain shattered, would find it impossible to survive despite their tenacious vitality.
At that moment, Chen Chuan noticed a strong virtualized phenomenon on Xiong Jianyi's second self, but it vanished almost instantly.
Footsteps approached from behind; it was the security team from the Gong Clan's convoy. They spread out, aiming their guns at Chen Chuan's back.
Chen Chuan seemed oblivious to the threat. With a swift motion, he withdrew his blade from Xiong Jianyi's body.
As the gleaming blade caught the sunlight, he gripped the handle, twisted his wrist, and flung the blade to the side. Xiong Jianyi, now without support, fell backward, his limbs splayed out as he crashed heavily onto the ground.
The Processing Bureau's team, dispatched to assist Chen Chuan, had arrived, but before they could act, everything was over.
In less than twenty seconds, Chen Chuan had leaped down, severed the vehicle, and Xiong Jianyi was shot dead.
When the team arrived, they witnessed Chen Chuan standing with his blade, surrounded by the Gong Clan's security personnel, their guns pointed at him.
Chen Chuan turned to face them, recognizing their Processing Bureau uniforms. He understood their presence; they were likely there to ensure his safety and handle any aftermath. He waved his blade and walked towards them.
At the front of the convoy, the manager turned to Gong Zhanyi, who shook his head. Without his command, no one had fired a shot, watching Chen Chuan walk away.
The team leader, Shao Hang, watched Chen Chuan approach. He gestured to a team member, who nodded in understanding and headed towards a nearby residence.
As Chen Chuan reached the residence, a team member tossed a sheathed blade towards him, saying, "Xiao Brother Chen, here's your stuff."
Chen Chuan caught it and thanked him. He then turned to Shao Hang and said, "Senior, Xiong Jianyi is dead. According to the mission regulations, I need to return for debriefing."
Shao Hang smiled, "You did well, young man. Go back. The rest is not your concern; we'll handle it."
Chen Chuan nodded to Shao Hang and the surrounding team members. He adjusted his scarf, sheathed his long blade and strode away.
Shao Hang signaled a team member to approach the Gong Clan. Just then, his boundary token reactivated, and Li's voice came through, "How's the situation there?"
Shao Hang replied, "Xiong Jianyi is dead, Li."
"So fast? Did you handle it?" Li asked.
Shao Hang explained, "No, it was the new guy, Chen... Chen Chuan, right? By the time we arrived, he had already finished him off."
Li fell silent for a moment.
"What did you say?"
Shao Hang raised his voice, "I said, by the time we got there, he... had already... finished him off!"
Li seemed incredulous, "Are you sure?"
Shao Hang glanced at Xiong Jianyi's body and said, "There's a gaping hole in his head, and his brain is a mess. I don't think he can be saved."
Li took a breath and said, "Bring Xiong Jianyi's body back."
"Then what?"
"Then we'll call it a day. Let the higher-ups handle the rest."
As the call ended, the team member who had fetched the blade showed Shao Hang something, "Look at this, Shao."
Shao Hang was surprised to see a stash of potent potential-stimulating drugs. "Wow, these could blow you up if taken together. Are all the new generation this daring?"
