Chapter 260: Sealing the Shadow Card (Third Update)
Chapter 260: Sealing the Shadow Card (Third Update)
Late at night, above Tomeda Elementary School.
After a series of crackling sounds, Jerry's figure appeared out of thin air.
"Shadow Card, I'll take you back first!"
If everything went as expected, the Shadow Card would cause chaos at Tomeda Elementary School the next day, piling up all the desks and chairs into a mountain. The following evening, Sakura would come to seal the Shadow Card with the Wind Card.
So, he decided to act first and see if he could catch the Shadow Card early to study it.
He didn't plan to take Sakura's Clow Cards; he just wanted to study the Magic principles behind them and return them to her once he was done.
The Clow Cards were created by Clow Reed, and only he and his descendants could truly control them. Jerry had no intention of keeping them for himself.
There was no need for it.
Moreover, using the Clow Cards in battle was too complicated, involving a wand, incantations, and releasing them one by one, which didn't meet his practical combat requirements.
Once he fully understood the Magic principles of the Clow Cards, he could create his own set.
Of course, not for his own use, but for his sister, who was always obsessed with Magic.
Aisha had no Magic talent and couldn't learn Meditation Technique. Creating a set of Magic cards for her would allow her to protect herself at any time.
"Hmm, did you find me?"
As soon as he landed on the square in front of the school, the human statue in the central fountain was lifted by something and hurled at him forcefully.
Clearly, the Shadow Card, hidden within the school, had detected his arrival.
"Full-body bind!"
Jerry extended his hand and cast a Freezing Charm, freezing the human statue in mid-air before gently placing it on the ground.
"Vandalism isn't a good thing!"
Seeing the massive shadow on the ground next to the fountain, Jerry flicked his wrist and threw a Particle Ball at it.
Although the shadow had no physical form and could ignore physical damage, it had little resistance to Magic. The rapidly fired Particle Ball instantly shattered the giant shadow into countless fragments.
As if enraged by Jerry's attack, countless shadowy figures resembling elementary school students quickly swarmed out of the teaching buildings, like a horde of ants.
The Shadow Card's ability not only allowed it to lift heavy objects using shadows for physical attacks but also to gather the shadows of living beings to enhance its power.
During the day, the Shadow Card had already collected the shadows of most of the students and teachers at Tomeda Elementary School.
Now, it was merging all the shadows to increase its strength and directly manipulate the massive shadow to attack Jerry.
"If I didn't know your weakness, you'd be much harder to deal with!"
Watching the shadow surge towards him like a tidal wave, Jerry didn't dodge. Instead, he quickly chanted:
"Daylight!"
Instantly, a bright light, like a small sun, radiated from his body, completely dissolving the tidal wave of shadows, leaving only a hooded black figure standing there in shock.
The Shadow Card's advantage was that as long as its true form wasn't found, Jerry could blast the shadows it created as many times as he wanted, but they would always regroup after a while.
However, its weakness was its fear of light. Intense light could directly disperse all the shadows, leaving its true form exposed.
Without the enhancement of shadows, the Shadow Card's true form was very weak.
Seeing all the shadows dispersed, the Shadow Card didn't dare to stay and hurriedly fled towards a nearby area with shadows, trying to escape using the shadows.
"Summon the Guardian!"
Maintaining the Daylight spell with one hand to continuously weaken the Shadow Card's abilities, Jerry pointed his other hand forward and summoned the Giant Guardian.
Although he didn't know the principle behind the creation of the Clow Cards, Jerry was still a powerful Witch proficient in the three major Magic systems.
He could roughly guess that the essence of a card spirit like the Shadow Card was most likely a combination of special Magic power and mental energy.
This was quite similar to the Guardian he summoned using the Guardian Charm.
So he speculated that his Guardian should be able to touch the Clow Card directly, thus allowing him to capture it.
Sure enough, due to the effects of Luminos, the Shadow Card's abilities were suppressed to the minimum, and its movement speed was greatly reduced. The Giant Guardian caught up to it in just two steps and grabbed it in one hand.
The Shadow Card, hooded and all, immediately started to struggle violently once it was caught by the Giant Guardian.
However, without the support of its master's Magic power, the Clow Card was much weaker. Additionally, it was further weakened by Luminos. No matter how much it struggled, it couldn't escape the Giant Guardian's grip.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid. I won't hurt you. I just need to check your body. Once I'm done, I'll return you to your new master!"
Jerry smiled and approached, then took out a thermos and spoke softly to the Shadow Card:
"Seal!"
A special Magic power wrapped around the Shadow Card, pulling it into the thermos.
He closed the thermos, retracted all his Magic, and used Mind Magic to move the human statue back to its original position. Then, with a Phantom Shift, Jerry vanished from the spot.
Tonight, he planned to have a good conversation with the Shadow Card to see if he could understand the special Magic of manipulating shadows.
The power of a Mage comes from the accumulation of countless Magic knowledge. If Jerry wanted to become a Dimension Lord or even a more powerful existence in the future, he needed to continuously absorb more Magic knowledge that he didn't understand.
By doing so, he could gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental laws of the world and eventually reach a level where he could control and alter these laws.
Three days after arriving in this world, Jerry pushed his bicycle out of the yard as usual in the morning.
During these three days, he had gained some insights into the Shadow Card. He estimated that in another two days, he might be able to use the Magic of manipulating shadows with his own Magic power.
The Shadow Card belonged to Dark Magic, and Jerry had always been quite knowledgeable about Magic, especially after obtaining Voldemort's notebook and learning a lot of Dark Magic knowledge that was prohibited at Hogwarts from Voldemort's soul.
"Hey, it's Sakura and Toya!"
Seeing the two figures, one big and one small, coming out of the house ahead, Jerry immediately rode his bicycle to catch up.
"Good morning, Toya!"
Toya, who was riding his bicycle and bickering with his sister Sakura, heard a familiar voice from behind and his mouth twitched.
Jerry Carmen, the transfer student who came from New York three days ago, was actually a Mage who could use Magic.
He was a good person with a pleasant personality, and the lunchboxes he brought every day were exceptionally sumptuous, making Toya and his friend Yukito truly experience the allure of delicious food.
The only issue was that Jerry liked to joke around and often teased him about his pure relationship with his friend Yukito, which gave Toya a headache.
"Who's this?"
After catching up with Toya, Jerry pretended to be curious and looked at the girl on roller skates beside him.
"Oh, this is my sister, Sakura!"
