Chapter 260: Koman's Revenge
“Oh?”
“So you’re saying there’s a demon’s nest there?”
Kai Xiusu’s eyes lit up with sudden interest. With powerful limbs, he slowly rose to his full height, his massive frame towering over the land. Within his molten lava-colored pupils, flickers of flame danced like embers in a forge.
In his memory, the demonic invasion of the Anstica Mountains had been triggered by the original “Kais.” But now, the worldline had diverged—this very chapter, which should have unfolded long ago, had changed.
“Yes, Master.”
Alje knelt on the ground, head bowed, voice calm and precise.
From his pack, he drew forth a Magic Scroll, its surface etched with a grotesque illustration of a creature—half-human, half-vulture—its body and spirit fused in unnatural union.
“Master, based on Lord Lanpu’s bestiary, this is undeniably a Frothmaw. I’ve also discovered Bagulam, Frenzied Warrior Demons, and even a Fallen Giant that has already undergone full demonic transformation.”
Kai Xiusu stared at the image, his clawed fingers brushing along the bony spines jutting from his chin. His eyes narrowed.
“Then that Fallen Giant is the source of the change.”
“And the exact location of the nest?”
Alje immediately pulled out another Magic Scroll, presenting it with reverence.
“Southwest corner of Anstica… Good.”
Kai Xiusu glanced at it once, then turned away without another word.
The Red Dragon shifted, muscles flexing beneath his scales. With a subtle shake, he stretched his vast wings, and molten light began to seep from every fissure in his armored hide. The Dragon Crystal embedded in his chest pulsed, slowly beginning to spin.
“Have Lanpu prepare the Giant Dimensional Gate.”
Flames swirled within Kai Xiusu’s pupils. He even licked his lips—his battle instincts stirred by the thrill of confronting something unknown.
“After so long in deep slumber…”
“It’s about time I stretched my limbs.”
“Let me see for myself just how strong the Deep Abyss Demons truly are.”
After his transformation through the Ancestral Bloodline, Kai Xiusu held absolute confidence in his power. Even if a Demon Lord descended into the Prime Material Plane, he could still survive. Let alone a mere demon nest.
“Yes, Master.”
Alje and the Tiefling Guards hurried toward Northwind Keep, scrambling to ready the Red Dragon’s campaign.
In the dark, damp depths of the cave, the Fallen Giant stared at the murky liquid surface, where a distorted image flickered—showing the four-horned Red Dragon now emerging from the shadows.
“He… he’s stronger than before.”
A low, guttural voice echoed through the void.
“Koman… are you afraid?”
“Do you not trust the strength of the Abyss? Have you forgotten your hatred?”
The tone carried a subtle threat.
Instantly, the vision of the Youshuang Clan’s extinction flashed through the giant’s mind once more.
Koman clenched his yellowed, foul teeth. His face twisted into a snarl. Tremors wracked his massive frame as the last Frost Giant erupted into fury once more.
“Yes! That’s just bluffing! I am far stronger than him!”
“I am the Favorite of the Abyss! The Chosen One of the supreme Revenant Demon Jezarslak! Beyond the fear of death—that is my power!
“Now rise, ascend—let me bring him the ultimate chaos!”
The monstrous Fallen Giant roared to the heavens. Abyssal flames erupted from his eyes.
“Good, Koman. Keep going.”
“You will have everything you desire.”
A voice—ethereal, omnipresent—echoed from the void.
Hearing the demon’s praise, the giant surged with manic energy. He raised his spear, wreathed in black mist.
“I will have revenge! I will destroy everything he holds dear!”
The demons within the nest stirred, roaring in chaotic frenzy, their shrieks a cacophony of hatred and madness. They screamed until even their own ears ached.
Spines-like shrieks tore through the sky.
Above, in the cloudless expanse of the heavens, a comet-like figure streaked across the firmament, trailing a long, blazing tail, leaving behind a wake of glowing vapor.
—That was Kai Xiusu.
With a roar of wind, he landed atop the mountain, peering down at the cavern below—a gaping maw, dark and deep as a bloody wound. The howls echoing from within were unmistakable.
“This is it.”
“The past Maw of Anstica… now, a Demon Nest.”
As a sanctuary for Deep Abyss Demons, this cave was undoubtedly perilous. Hovering beside the Red Dragon, Heaven’s Judgment Dragon Eye had already glimpsed fragments of the future—rotting, boiling blood; spreading shadows; limbs twisted and distorted; Rune Arrays drawn in thick, sticky liquid. The cave had become a manifestation of the Bottomless Abyss, spreading its corruption across the Prime Material Plane.
Though Kai Xiusu felt no fear, these horrors would certainly complicate things.
“Well then,” he muttered, a cold smirk forming, “if there are so many disgusting things in there… why waste time?”
With that, he chuckled—low, dangerous.
“Wonder if these Deep Abyss Demons even know the game of ‘smoke out the mice’?”
Slowly, the Red Dragon opened his maw. Energy surged through dense basal vessels, funneling toward the Dragon Crystal embedded in his chest. The stone glowed with an impossible light, like a miniature sun. Cracks in the surrounding rock pulsed with the same fiery radiance.
Along his neck and tail, rows of porous organs burst open, releasing dazzling trails of flame. Thick white smoke billowed from his throat.
Within the smoke, super-dense energy was drawn deep into his throat—then, with a thunderous crack, a blinding white fire column erupted, blasting directly into the cavern.
Boom!
For an instant, the entire cave blazed like daylight.
Demons hiding in ambush—those preparing to strike—were instantly vaporized by the searing heat. Any obstacle in the path of that breath was reduced to ash.
The flame column melted through stone, carving deep into the earth.
Demons screamed in agony, scrambling blindly, fleeing in all directions, trying to escape the inferno.
But this was not the end.
Kai Xiusu unfurled his wings, maintaining the breath while weaving magic with sheer will. Under the weight of his overwhelming charisma, the Weave of Magic trembled violently, unleashing a storm of chaotic spells.
Inferno Ash Veil
Thousands of small, incandescent volcanic rocks plunged from the sky. A torrent of volcanic ash poured down like a black rain, flooding into the cavern.
“Come taste the smoke of the Prime Material Plane,” Kai Xiusu said.
Ordinary demons could breathe in any atmosphere. Their lungs were strong—resistant to toxins, even to the deadly, soul-sapping breath of the Bottomless Abyss. They could survive in any natural gas.
But Kai Xiusu’s Volcanic Ash Mist was no ordinary air. It was a storm of superheated ash fragments.
The ash turned demon bodies into furnaces. Their flesh burned instantly. Their shells melted away.
Dozens of Frothmaw flailed through the smoke, blinded and disoriented, crashing into one another. They inhaled too much ash and choked to death, falling lifeless.
Hundreds of lesser demons writhed on the ground, fighting each other in blind panic. None escaped.
Some died, collapsing into pools of black, tar-like pus.
Some lost their skin, revealing raw, exposed muscle and organs.
Others collapsed, their flesh rotting in an instant, leaving behind a stench so foul it made the air itself sickening.
Their bones remained—but crumbled at a touch.
Others turned translucent, then exploded in a burst of lightning, leaving behind ghostly afterimages on every wall around them.
Demons died in ways that defied reason. As creatures born of the Abyss, they were not mere beasts, but living embodiments of chaos and catastrophe—manifestations of pure devastation.
More and more fled toward the entrance, driven by instinct, even in their madness.
And that was exactly what Kai Xiusu wanted.
The Red Dragon’s pale gold eyes flickered with amusement.
“Looks like these ‘mice’ are being forced out.”
Kai Xiusu slowly closed his jaws. The air around him warped from the heat. Thick white smoke curled from his mouth.
He swung his massive claw, veins bulging beneath his scales.
Claw Rake
A shimmering, claw-shaped force field materialized nearby—like a phantom hand from the void. It sliced through several demons, cleaving them in two.
The creatures writhed on the ground, screaming, bleeding black ichor. Twisted worms wriggled from their wounds.
Eventually, they disintegrated—leaving only the writhing worms behind.
If a demon died in another plane, its corpse would return to the Bottomless Abyss—unless magically bound.
But if a demon was slain outside the Abyss, its essence would return to the primal chaos of the Abyss and be reborn as a new demon.
“ROOOOAAAAAARRR!”
“Worms from the Abyss!”
Kai Xiusu roared, his thirty-meter-long body surging forward into the midst of the demon horde.
“Aaargh!”
A dozen Frenzied Warrior Demons—massive, brutish, built for close combat—charged from all sides, their oversized claws aimed to tear through the Red Dragon’s scales.
But against such overwhelming strength, their efforts were laughable.
The Red Dragon moved like a mountain in motion. He crushed the charging demons into black-red meat paste. Their claws never even touched his scales—burned to ash before they could strike.
Even demons fleeing in terror were reduced to ash by the thunderbolts and fire that crackled around Kai Xiusu’s form, sent back to the Abyss’s Blood Pool.
A few Bagulam—ape-like creatures—charged, leaping onto the Red Dragon’s back in an attempt to pound him.
But it was like attacking a city wall. Kai Xiusu didn’t even flinch. Electric arcs danced across their bodies, convulsing them mid-air. They crashed to the ground, then were crushed underfoot.
In seconds, hundreds of demons lay dead. Kai Xiusu, however, felt a dull sense of boredom.
“Is that all?”
He stood on the blood-soaked ground, wings slowly unfurling, casting a shadow over the trembling demons.
Then—something shifted.
From the thick smoke of the cavern, a hazy, towering humanoid figure emerged—The Fallen Giant.
His eyes burned with Abyssal flame. Cracks ran across his body, glowing with a sickly yellow light.
“Kai Xiusu! I will kill you!”
The giant roared, raising his black spear, and leapt through the smoke—soaring nearly a hundred meters into the air.
The spear tip, gleaming with cold light, aimed straight at Kai Xiusu’s head, as if it would pierce him in an instant.
Then, with the grace of a dragon in flight, the giant dove downward—like a falling meteor.
But Kai Xiusu was already prepared.
With a single, effortless flick of his wings, he summoned a gale of wind. His massive body blurred into a streak, soaring hundreds of meters into the sky.
Koman’s attack missed.
His descent was unstoppable.
The earth trembled. Dust exploded into the air.
When the smoke cleared, the Fallen Giant knelt on the ground, his face twisted in rage. The black spear was buried deep into the cracked earth—so deep it had vanished up to its shaft.
Slowly, he rose. His arms bulged with veins as he wrenched the spear free from the ground.
With a roar, he raised it again—aiming at the sky.
He lifted his head, screaming with all the fury he had buried for years.
“Kai Xiusu! Tremble! I am back!
I will never forget my hatred—because hatred is my spear of revenge!
Every night for three years, I dreamed of this moment. I will tear you apart, scale by scale. I will steal your treasure, burn your kingdom, slaughter your people!
The humiliation you once inflicted—I will return it a hundredfold!
Remember this—this giant, who brings you despair… is Koman. Child of Vengeance and Chaos!”
The Fallen Giant raged, unleashing decades of suppressed torment. His decaying corpse trembled. His cloudy eyes burned with demonic fury.
But the Red Dragon above did not rage.
Instead, Kai Xiusu simply lowered his head, wings still spread, eyes narrowed in thought—studying the giant’s status.
Yet after long consideration, he could not recall a single reason why he’d ever angered such a creature.
Where had this enemy come from?
So, with a voice tinged with strange curiosity, he asked:
“So… who are you?”
To be ignored—after all that rage—was worse than any insult.
Koman felt a surge of black bile rise in his throat. His fury boiled over, threatening to consume him.
His long-awaited enemy—his sworn enemy—didn’t even know he existed.
He didn’t care.
He didn’t remember.
And in that moment, the truth of his revenge crumbled.
