Chapter 260: Gutting Jinx
Chapter 260: Gutting Jinx
Ved took a slight pause, then entered the room, meeting the gazes of Draco and Crabbe.
"Ved?"
Dumbledore approached, "I believe you have what I requested."
"Yes," Ved replied.
His words shifted Crabbe's attention, while Narcissa Malfoy silently comforted Draco by placing a hand on his back.
But Ved could sense Lucius Malfoy's icy gaze fixed on him.
Like a cold, slithering water snake.
"Dumbledore..."
Malfoy spoke coldly, "Why involve an unrelated person? I haven't heard that Ved Gre is also involved in this matter."
"You're just in time," Dumbledore said. "Today, Ved has unveiled a new invention—"
At this, all the adults, except for Snape, turned to look at the boy.
"—He has improved upon the two-faced mirror technology and created an alchemical product that can record images. What do they call it?...Oh yes, it's a Magic Television."
Dumbledore, as if just remembering, nodded to himself and then turned to the two families beside him.
Draco's face gradually turned pale.
"Mr. Malfoy strongly resists the use of the Flashback Curse on his wand..." Dumbledore continued, "Of course, I am merely a headmaster without the authority to enforce it."
"Although the Minister of Magic should be in the Great Hall at this moment, you also refused to have officials or Aurors from the Ministry conduct a fair judgment. Since that's the case, we can review the recorded footage to see what actually happened."
"What do you think?"
He asked, graciously leaving the decision to the parents of both parties.
Malfoy's eyes flickered.
He hadn't received an invitation to the Hogwarts challenge and hadn't heard any rumors about the "FlowMirror." He wasn't sure if Dumbledore's invention was real.
But since the inventor was Ved Gre... the likelihood of it being true was indeed high.
Even if such an invention existed... what were the chances that it had recorded the conflict between Draco and his group?
If they insisted on not showing the footage, it would undoubtedly prove they had something to hide. But if it had been recorded...
Without evidence, they could deny it, claiming it was Dumbledore's plot to split them up or blame other students for acting behind the scenes. With actual evidence, the Malfoy family would have to pay a heavy price.
Malfoy weighed his options, not turning to look at his wife and son.
Narcissa had always doted on Draco, and he knew his own son better than anyone. The moment he saw Draco at school, Malfoy knew the boy had caused a major problem.
Before he could make a decision, he heard Crabbe's hoarse voice:
"This is trouble, Dumbledore... I also want to know who did this to my Vincent."
Malfoy looked at Crabbe, seeing his former lackey with a gloomy expression, avoiding eye contact and not willing to share his thoughts.
Malfoy's heart sank.
"Of course, as the father of the victim, we must respect your opinion in handling this matter," Dumbledore said, turning to Ved.
"Well done, Ved," Dumbledore said in a steady tone.
Ved stepped forward, enlarging a mirror to the size of a dressing mirror, then took out the master mirror. He tapped the mirror surface with his wand, murmured a spell, and the image on the mirror rapidly rewound.
The group watched the master mirror, and after a dizzying flash of images, familiar figures appeared and the footage began to play at a normal speed.
Vold put away his wand and pocketed the master mirror, stepping aside.
Suddenly, Professor Snape glanced over, his eyes narrowing slightly, signaling for Vold to leave the master mirror behind before quietly departing.
Vold pretended not to notice, keeping his hands in his pockets and silently moving to the side to minimize his presence.
The Slytherin Head of House's face was cold and terrifying, but Vold no longer met his gaze.
Vold was also curious about how this incident had occurred and what the outcome would be.
The magical puppet bird that had captured this footage was a bit far away, and through the sub-mirrors, the sound of rustling leaves in the wind, the flapping of the bird's wings, and distant, indistinct shouts and screams could be heard, but the conversation of the young wizards was inaudible.
There were spells to amplify specific sounds, but at that moment, everyone seemed to have forgotten about them, merely frowning at the mirror's display.
The group of six seemed to have just escaped from some monster's pursuit, running frantically. Daphne suddenly stumbled and fell, and the others stopped to help her, catching their breath together.
They all looked disheveled, and the atmosphere among them was tense.
Not long into their rest, Vincent Crabbe started arguing with Draco, which quickly escalated into shoving and then a full-blown fight.
Despite Draco's usual arrogance, his slender build was no match for Vincent's tall and robust physique.
Vincent's sheer weight pinned Draco down, and he furiously punched him several times.
The others pulled them apart, and Zabini and the others seemed to be blaming Vincent, but he suddenly roared at them, causing them to release him with grim expressions.
Daphne and Pansy tried to intervene, but when boys fought, they didn't hold back. Vincent, caught off guard, elbowed Daphne in the face, causing her to fall with blood gushing from her nose.
A house-elf suddenly appeared like a ghost, taking away the bleeding Daphne as if the fight hadn't happened.
Pansy was also knocked down, but she quickly got up and pushed Vincent, shouting angrily.
The girl wasn't unattractive, but when her expression turned ferocious, she looked truly menacing, momentarily stunning Crabbe.
At that moment, Draco, who hadn't fully recovered from the fall, suddenly raised his head, drew his wand, and shouted, firing a beam of black light that struck Vincent.
Vincent's movements and anger seemed to freeze abruptly. He stood rigidly for a moment, his face contorted in agony, before collapsing without warning.
Where he fell, a large, pixelated mess appeared, and blood began to spread.
Pansy screamed, and the others were all stunned, unable to react.
Compared to them, Draco's reaction was even more panicked. He dropped his wand and backed away, terrified.
"Enough!"
Mr. Malfoy suddenly stood up, and with a wave of his wand, the sub-mirror's display vanished.
Dumbledore sighed deeply, looking at Draco with an indescribable expression.
"Gutting Jinx..."
He said slowly, "I don't recall the school teaching you such a spell."
