[Your level has increased to LV5]
[You have gained 1 free attribute point]
[You can choose one of the following three skills]
[1. Basic Wisdom (Allows learning of 3rd-level spells)]
[2. Basic Defense (Reduce physical attack damage by 5%)]
[3. Basic Tactics (Increase marching speed by 10%, increase command effectiveness by 10%)]
This wave of victories boosted Qin Muye’s level directly to 5. After a quick glance, he chose the Basic Reconnaissance and Basic Wisdom skills.
The Basic Reconnaissance skill was a temporary skill, and the word "temporary" disappeared once he acquired it. The Basic Wisdom skill, on the other hand, he believed would synergize well with his Intermediate Scholarship, Intermediate Enlightenment, and learning abilities, so he selected it. After all, it had the word "wisdom" in its name.
As for Basic Magic Power, he already had a skill book for it, so there was no need to waste a choice. More importantly, he didn’t need it.
Mo Xue, his hero, also leveled up, though only by one level, reaching LV5. Unlike Qin Muye, Mo Xue didn’t have an experience boost, so he only gained the standard 5,000 experience points.
Mo Xue upgraded Basic Tactics to Intermediate Tactics, doubling its effects.
[Intermediate Tactics (Increase marching speed by 20%, increase command effectiveness by 20%)]
The effects were quite good.
[Leader/Scholar LV5 (3,385/6,200)]
[Hero: Mo Xue, the Sprite LV5 (4,770/6,200)]
Qin Muye felt that leveling up was never an issue, even if Mo Xue went out every day to clear monsters. This wave of victories closed the gap, and they were only about a thousand experience points away from each other.
If he could further enhance the Enlightenment skill, it would be even more powerful.
"Five times the difficulty, five times the reward," Qin Muye mused, feeling a bit apprehensive.
He was worried that if 1,000 undead creatures came tomorrow, how would he handle it? And who knew what type of troops would come? If it was cavalry or heavily armored infantry, what then?
Fortunately, he quickly calmed down and started by exchanging the Sulfur Workshop and Crystal Room from the points store, then learning and building one of each.
With 3,000 points remaining, Qin Muye didn’t immediately exchange for the class change certificate he needed. Instead, he chose to exchange for the Blacksmith and Market building blueprints, learning and constructing them both.
He needed to equip the mana sprites with weapons; otherwise, they wouldn’t stand a chance tomorrow. So, he decided to take a gamble.
The Blacksmith could forge weapons, allowing him to produce his own in the future. If he could buy them, it would be even better, solving his immediate needs. The Market, on the other hand, would be used to purchase supplies.
Today, I can only buy what I can produce, otherwise, what else can I do?
The two blueprints cost a total of 1000 points, and Qin Muye didn't touch the remaining 2000 points. He saved them for emergencies, planning to use them to exchange for magic scrolls to turn the tide if needed.
"Ma Xue, you don't need to go out searching for the undead this afternoon. Focus on training two batches of mana goblins today. Get all of them to elite status as soon as possible. When it's midnight, start training again. Rest during the day, so by then, you'll have one batch of elites and another batch that's two-thirds of the way there."
Qin Muye couldn't afford to hold back; he had to push as hard as he could.
"Yes, Lord," Ma Xue agreed without hesitation. For him, this wasn't a big issue.
Soon, Ma Xue led 100 mana goblins into the training ground. As for production, Qin Muye had no choice but to take a loss for now. However, the compensation from today's wave would be enough.
He wouldn't touch the gold coins; he still needed them to buy equipment. Otherwise, the mana goblins would be at a huge disadvantage if they went into battle unarmed.
"If I'm not mistaken, this monster siege is likely drawing troops from the nearby undead forces. If that's the case, in the coming days, we might see champion-level or hero units."
This was both good and bad news.
The good news was that if he successfully defended against this monster siege, the nearby undead forces would be weakened. He could then have Ma Xue lead the troops to eliminate this weakened undead force and prevent future threats.
The bad news was that he had to survive the next five waves of the monster siege and preserve enough strength. Otherwise, either his territory would be breached and everyone would die, or both sides would be too weakened to continue fighting.
This was a high-stakes gamble.
Of course, there was another possibility: the undead forces might be stronger than Qin Muye imagined. Even if they lost a significant amount of their strength, they might still be unafraid. If that were the case, Qin Muye would have to find another way.
The blacksmith and market were quickly built.
As expected, the blacksmith could forge equipment and had a standard set, including a helmet, longsword, and long knife. Other equipment required blueprints and materials, such as iron ore, which was hard to find.
However, Qin Muye didn't rely on the blacksmith. Instead, he looked at the market, which had two sections: the store and the auction house.
The store was part of "Lord's Epoch," while the auction house was where lords could trade with each other.
Naturally, Qin Muye chose the store, which didn't have many high-tier items but mostly basic ones.
This suited him just fine.
He quickly found the equipment he needed.
[Standard Set: Includes helmet, armor, shield, and weapon of choice. Price: 100 gold, 10 units of wood, 10 units of ore]
Without hesitation, Qin Muye bought 201 sets. He then used the remaining gold to recruit 18 more mana goblins, bringing the total to 200. It wasn't that he didn't want to recruit more, but he had other uses for the resources.
He chose long knives for all the weapons, as they were better suited for the battlefield. He then distributed all the equipment, giving the extra set to Ma Xue. Although Ma Xue had his own equipment, he found the longsword less convenient to use. For a brute-force hero like him, a knife was more suitable.
